I thought Nick had a pin, refs in finals were a bit behind on calling pins

I remember in the 70's a Reitz wrestler screaming before his match from the top of Mater Dei gym and then running down to the mat for his match. I think he lost in a good match. Anyone remember that?

I wrestled for Central a long time ago for Coach Tommy Turner. He liked to talk about how he and Coach Gossman introduced the sport to Evansville High Schools. I don't remember the whole story or how accurate it is, but he liked telling it. He was a great guy and coached wrestling for a long time.

Has MD ever not had the lead after first day? Union County wrestles a tough schedule, I think they have a shot to win this. Some good Semis, like the Lampe Boys at 145 and 152, Bryant at HVY.

I was really impressed with the coverage. I thought it was some of the best coverage of any wrestling event I've ever seen. Great close ups, plenty of camera's didnt have to look at the ref when he got in the way would just switch to another camera. Really liked the overhead camera. The graphics were good, up to date and the interviews were a nice touch between matches. Announcers were up to speed with the wrestlers, good coaching commentary, not overbearing. Would have made ESPN proud!

I completely agree! I watched the video off of the IHSAA.Gov site and it was very good. Defitnitely should make it on the TV next year, but hey dont take it off the net or us out of state folks wont get to see. Congrats to all!

The Mater Dei tournament is a good barometer for KY wrestling vs IN. KY still has a long way to go but this years showing at Mater Dei was probably its best ever. The state continues to improve, Union and Trinity are two of the top 5 teams in KY. Other KY notables: Ryle HS in N. KY (Cincy area) wrestles alot of OH tournaments and finished 2nd as team in GMVCA a few weeks ago. Pretty good showing for Ryle, GMVCA is a very tough tournament won by Graham. Johnson Central in eastern KY has a pretty good team this year, they wrestle some W VA tournaments, recently won the Skeens Tourney at Grundy HS.
