  1. I swear I heard him say "Hulk Smash!" right after he did that. What a animal? Pulling the singlet down even before getting his hand raised may have been a little much for my taste, but what can you do the kid was probably in a daze of emotions at that point.
  2. Not a heck of a lot of new singlets to choose form this year but a few observations, A few wrestlers sported throw back uniforms. Some at the nice nostalga look and some just looked old and worn out. Some teams still have the same basic design for several years, like MD and CP and those always look classy. Indian Creek- Good try with the tuxedo singlet but they just didn't come off as cool in person as one might think. New Castle- I want a closer look at at the green singlets with some type of white spots. I couldn't see one up real close to tell if it really looked cool or not. Jeffersonville-The black singlet with gray flames was kind of neat. Culver Military- Superman design, while used before by other teams, wasn't to bad. Anderson- Never really got into the plaid look from a few years back but they definitely stand out. Someone had a black singlet with red pinstripes that looked decent. Anyone else see some other good or bad singlet choices.
  3. Almost happened twice. It's like Chalfant had a brain glitch a few times during that match. But still won.
  4. Wright is going to be completely confused next year when he doesn't see Eppert across form him at face offs.
  5. At one point Richey didn't get ahold of all four fingures when he was pulling the arm in. Because of that one of Egolf's fingures in particular got pulled back hard and it broke or was dislocated I'm not sure which. Injury time expired and Quincy was DQed since it was an illegal move. From what I saw I would not say it was done out of frustration or to purposely cause injury. He did pull on the fingures hard and since he didn't grasp all of them that was the end result. This is exactly why the rule is in place that you need to at least grab all 4 fingures when pulling the arm in.
  6. Best matches of the night by far were The entire Wright vs Eppert match. And series of matches over the last few years for that matter. The last period of Young vs McGinley. Just crazy what happened in a matter of a few seconds. The first 15 second of Chalfant vs White. He got that place going with the big first move. To bad the rest of the match really wasn't that energetic.
  7. From what I heard most of his loses this year were to McMurry. If true, that would make since because his record sure doesn't reflect the talent that was out on the mat this weekend.
  8. Agreed he did have one heck of a run through the state finals competition. Left no doubt he was the man at that weight.
  9. CP is about as well rounded a team as you will find this year. Anyone that watch half their team at state knows you won't find any holes in that part of the line up.
  10. March. Sandefer was kind enough to lift him in the air and run him over to recieve the award so he didn't have to walk.
  11. #1 Leave the big celebration moment for after you get your hand raised and shake hands not before. #2 It's fine to let some emotions fly and do something fancy but don't be excessive. Show a little class and integrity. #3 Don't do any celebration that is directed towards your opponent or his fans. See the end of #3. That's my take on it.
  12. Where exactly is Pro Power High School located at? I have nothing against Pro Power. In fact I honestly think they are a great assest for the wrestling community. They are a terrific company, have great products, and are a wonderful supporter. With that being said hopefully this next comment is not taken in offense to the company, but more of a message to the coaches and schools. What with a handful of wrestlers wearing Pro Power shirts during face offs and during finals pictures? I'm sure one or two others wore a none wrestling related shirt but the Pro Power shirts seemed to stand out. What the problem with showing a little school/team pride during those moments and wearing a teams warm up or t-shirt. If you want to wear something else doing it in between matches or while preparing but not during the state finals highlight moments. Those times should be set aside for representing your school, team and community. I can understand a kid wearing the logo headband or something like that but the a t-shirt of a company instead of their schools shirt is a little much. I wont place blaim on Pro Power because I'm assuming they didn't intend for the shirts to be worn at those times. I would think the coaches would ask their guys to wear something school related on those type of occasions vs. any type of logo t-shirt. On the bright side at least its not the ripped up jeans and "white-trash" tank tops some guys wear to regular season awards.
  13. If Lance Palmer can do it then why not Chalfant!
  14. Is there a reason the schedule is set up as it is. It seems to me that the current schedule is not helping the youth end of the sport as much as it could be. To me pushing back the entire season even 2 weeks would allow for more people to give the ISWA events a try. Why not end it in the middle of March instead of the start of March. Maybe I'm wrong but to me this still would give them time to finish up before the baseball and track season really get in full swing. In the elementary basketball is in full bloom during the main part of the ISWA season. If those are they type of kids we are wanting to pull wrestlers from then we need to find a way to give those kids a chance to even try wrestling out. During the basketball season most parents and even kids probably don't want to try and juggle both sports so they stick with basketball since thats the usual childhood favorite. Most don't want to jump into the wrestling season with only a few weeks left in it when basketball ends. If we could move the ISWA season back 2 week that opens up 2 more weeks these kids can participate in wrestling. At the middle school level they middle school wrestling is in full bloom during the start of the ISWA folkstyle season. Most middle school wrestlers have enough going on and don't want attend ISWA event on the weekends. If we pushed the season back 2 weeks these kids would have more oppertunity to attend ISWA folkstyle events. By doing this they may take more interest in ISWA wrestling and that converts over to move of them trying the ISWA freestyle season, as well. The later date would also allow middle school basketball players sick of riding the pine and wanting to give wrestling a try time to participate with their middle school wrestling club or team and join in on the ISWA folkstyle season, as well. At the high school level the kids are still in season during the ISWA folkstyle season and are not allowed to participate. After they finish up their high school season and tournament they only have a few weeks of freestyle to wrestle before the ISWA state competitions. That does not give many kids time to transition over to another style. Many high school kids are trying freestyle for the first time as freshman and need the time to learn the style before the season rushes past them. Plus, many high school kids may not feel comfortable with trying the ISWA program out because freestyle being a little different. But these same kids would participate in folkstyle events if they were more available at the start and then may stick it out and try the freestyle program too. To add to that many elementary through high school kids also go on spring break with their family this cuts out 2 weeks of the ISWA season which may already be short for some of them. Having the ISWA season pushed back 2 weeks would give those kids more time to wrestle events before the ISWA state competition occurs. Any thoughts or opionions? Just trying to find a way to maximize participation of both current and potential wrestlers during the ISWA season. With lower attendance at state the last few years you would think they would be willing to try at least some small changes in order to jump start the sport.
  15. The phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" comes to mind. Well that and also "check yourself before you wreck yourself"
  16. Class wrestling is 36 pages long but 1/2 of it is just the same 3 or 4 people arguing back and forth. Many of which are not making much sense other than trying to find ways to annoy the others. If you eliminate that arguing its only 15 to 20 pages of content. At least semi-state upsets has a variety of posters on it.
  17. Windows was partially designed using a Macintosh operating system design. Take what you can and make it better is the Bill Gates way.
  18. If anything the results show that the talent in southwestern Indiana is on the rise just as much as it shows EMD is down compared to previous years. I thank EMD for setting a standard that the rest of the southwestern part of the state is finally rising up to meet.
  19. I used to want to see someone dethrown Harper just because I tend to side with the underdog. However, the more I see him struggle this year the more I see myself pulling for him. It will come down to who he faces next week if I end up pulling for or against him. Either way he is a very talented individual and a great representative of Indiana wrestling.
  20. tripleb says they are 2 hours behind schedule, semis on 4 mats, skipping weights. Told me he's ready to trade SS with Merrillville. Man it must be bad if someone is going as far as wanting to be at MV. Anyone even have the rest of the ticket round results for EV?
  21. Great info on each of the semi-state but it looks like the Eville news is at a standstill. Maybe SlickRodz battery died or something. Thanks for those conveying the news though. It's been helpful for those of us who are not able to attend all the sem--states.
  22. That specific Delphi group has been working hard since they were little guys going to events in the days of elementary school. For many of them the years of dedication and sticking together are paying off.
  23. In most caes if they can't beat a #4 not sure they could beat the #3-#1 guys on a consistant basis either. It would almost be impossible to see this type of event to start with being common opponent would even be hard to find. Records vs strenght of schedule would be crazy deal with on top of that. You have to just come ready to wrestle and if you can't put together a string of wins I guess you'll be going home. I'd like to see wrestle back in the ticket round on and thats it. It will be more interesting to see how many #4s could put two good matches back to back and advance to state.
  24. We should be finishing out the ticket-round matches in the near future. Lets start hearing which sectionals were stacked and had 3 or 4 from the same wieght class make it to state.
