  1. From The Mat forums today.... Embarassing Occurrence in Florida http://www.thematforums.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=323760&sid=a1439da68f6c3a5cc781748892151ebb
  2. The 3rd Hobbit movie comes out on Dec 27 so that's no good ;D
  3. The Regional brackets should be: A1 vs B4 A3 vs B2 B3 vs A2 B1 vs A4 Always the 1 vs 4 / 2 vs 3 in the first round Each sectional has it's 1 and 3 on the same side of the bracket
  4. I did that one time during "team building". Nobody liked Tobey anyway
  5. Huh?? If you flip this bracket over, its the same matchups! One regionals is labeled A, the other is B. The A1 wrestles the B4. The B1 wrestles the A4. The 1 and 3 from the same sectionals is always on the same side of the bracket, as are the 2 and 4 from the same sectionals.
  6. For any Sectional A and Sectional B, here is how the bracket will be built - you can lookup results and build it yourself... A1--------- | |--------- | B4--------- A3--------- | |---------- | B2--------- A2--------- | |---------- | B3--------- A4--------- | |---------- | B1--------- And so forth...
  7. 106 Reitz 113 Jiminez 120 Torres 126 Castellanos 132 Escobedo 138 Warmack 145 Gonzalez 152 Morgan 160 Arredondo (#1 seed is 11-14 ???) 170 Sopko 182 Fowler 195 Hedrick 220 Williams 285 Yanez
  8. 106 Dawkins 113 Starks 120 Red 126 Mccarty 132 Wilson 138 Smiley 145 Uhls 152 James 160 Young 170 King 182 Nuckols 195 Wagner 220 Vaughn 285 Beeson 195 championship should be worth the price of admission
  9. 106 Allen 113 Flood 120 Ellis 126 Barrantes 132 Robinson 138 Kitko 145 Amos 152 Ryan 160 Wormuth 170 Mccool 182 Hein 195 White 220 Leininger 285 Porter
  10. 106 Wilhelm 113 Bocock 120 Mantel 126 Chastain 132 Eldred 138 Eldred 145 VanCamp 152 Steele 160 Haverson 170 McCloskey 182 Morales 195 Dixon 220 Warner 285 Bauer
  11. I could live with it if the first round loser at least had an opportunity to wrestle back through and move to regionals. Think of the difference though - sectionals with 8 teams -- everyone has the chance to wrestle back. Sectionals with 9+ teams, unless there are forfeits there are kids who don't get the chance so it's luck of the draw to see if you get placed in a winnable match, or if you randomly draw into one of the kids better than you, and your day is done
  12. It's not just the #1/2 seed either. Take a look at Zionsville sectional 170 lbs. 16 man bracket In the first round, there is a matchup: Westfield Senior (17-12) vs Zionsville Freshman (24-8) One of these successful wrestlers will not get a chance to go for 3rd/4th place. It's one match and done. Meanwhile, in the same weight class there is a matchup of: Wrestler1 (2-3) vs Wrestler2 (3-6) BOTH of these wrestlers will get at least 2 chances to wrestle on the day. Just doesn't seem right
  13. That is a good idea, and I agree. Hope someone from IHSWCA can bring up this possibility with the IHSAA in off-season talks. It doesn't add any matches to the tournament, but gives some good wrestlers a shot at 3rd/4th and advancement to regionals.
  14. Slightly different seeding question -- In a 16-man bracket with 10 or 11 teams, how many kids are seeded? And does the loser of first round matches really get sent home with no chance to wrestle back for 3rd/4th? I'm looking at 138 at the Shelbyville sectional - one of the toughest in the state with Warren Central, New Palestine, Greenfield. At 138 lbs, a kid with 15-13 record is paired with the #1 seed. OK so maybe he's not the best wrestler in the tournament, but it seems like he should have a chance to battle for that 3rd/4th place and move on.
  15. Now *THAT* is a contingency plan! I love it
  16. If I remember right, the same situation happened in 2010 with the Jay County Regional. Several parents were on the board here prepared to caravan, but I *think* were told by their AD that since there was a snow emergency in their county (Randolph) that they were not allowed to participate. Not sure what a coach could do in this case, as the AD/school system is their employer. I think I also remember that Brent Faurote with Bellmont was the one person at the tournament that really spoke out against the situation as it was happening and tried to get it postponed for the benefit of those schools that couldn't make it. In any case, there have been multiple forecasts on the internet of another storm barrelling down on us here in Indiana. I really hope that the AD of host schools is looking at schedules for basketball tournaments and determining if there is a good contingency plan, even if it means moving the event to another school with a free schedule. Can't control mother nature, but they can plan in advance so that no senior ever has to be put out of the tournament in their final year after sometimes years of hard work by something that could have been avoided.
  17. Look, can we ALL AGREE that IHSWCA needs to include another class in their team championship next year for non-sanctioned Baptist wrestling schools?
  18. His note says that if 50% of the schools can show up, then you should hold the tournament. So what happens to the other 50% are they done for the season? I can't imagine that a senior's career could end in this manner!!
  19. I didn't think they were but got me excited when I saw the 17 of 32 subject! I can wait a few days, I guess.
  20. None of the 17 are visible at this time? Or am I looking at the wrong place?
  21. Did this event occur or was it cancelled with the snow?
  22. Wow looks like the Perry Meridian machine will keep on rolling! How many kids do you have wrestling for the middle school program?
  23. 106 Egli - He and Konrath will battle at semistate and then perhaps again at state. Fantastic practice partners will make the difference 113 Pepple - has gotten stronger as the season has went on 120 Red - Lahue should be a good matchup but otherwise he is untouchable 126 Micic - Nick Lee will need to wait his turn 132 D Wilson - the Jordan Burroughs of IHSAA. You know that double leg is coming, but theres nothing you can do 138 Hughes - last year's run got him the experience to win it all this year 145 LeCount - Maybe the best technical wrestler in the state. Doesn't make mistakes 152 Macri - Best of the field 160 Corsaro - Vinny didn't quite have enough for Farrell last year - he will not only win this year he will be dominant 170 J Stevenson - McCloskey returns with championship experience, but Stevenson's brutal in-season schedule has him prepared 182 Eldridge - Rypel and Eldridge will be a battle. Eldridge wins a tough grind-it-out match 195 Kral - Fort Wayne semistate guys battle back and forth, but he sneaks through for the championship 220 Robinson - From what I saw last year at Bankers Life, ain't nobody going to approach this kids athleticism 285 Bernard - Battle tested, improved every year
  24. D Wilson, you've won me over as a fan! Best of luck to you
