I have 2 for Friday only, section 118 row K. (Physical tix in-hand). Will sell for $25 total. I'm in Evansville & can meet tonight or tomorrow before gates open.
Edit: I've posted on FB too, so 1st come, 1st served.
That was a great match, but how did they not give Tharpe the takedown at the end?
Edit: my bad, I thought they gave Sprague an escape point, but it was the stalling call that tied it up. Tharpe never lost control, so no td.
All 3 Welch bothers made it to state in both 2010 and 2011. In 2010, Luke (freshman year) drew Ayersman (champ) in the first round & lost 5-0. Doug was runner-up and Chad was 3rd. In 2011, Luke placed 5th & Chad and Doug were both champs. And yes, I had to google that.
It was fun watching Brimm back in the day. He looked like a man-child even in middle school. His dad, Jim Shannon, was my freestyle coach for several years & he was such a great guy. Jay definitely had a good support crew there. As for your reference to Pat Cassidy...I had the good fortune of wrestling him several times. Never turned out well for me. lol
I think you're referring to the AAU Grand Nationals. I went one year in the early 90s, and it was in Battle Creek, MI. There was a regional qualifier at Terre Haute that year, with the top 6 advancing to nationals.
Watching webcast from home & just noticed the background music......AC/DC - It's aLong Way To The Top. Much better than Chariots of Fire or some other sappy music like in years past.
