Speaking of bridges. When we first took over our program we could not win a match to save our lives, therefore we got to practice a bunch of bridge and turns. We had one of wrestlers during a meet we were getting trashed at yell out to his teammate as he was on his back, "they can't stop our bridge and turn." It was a sad sad day.

I used to think it was all about takedowns. But over the years I have adjusted. You also have to be a good scrambler, have good defense, and be able to get out from bottom for that to work well. I have always heard if you want to be one of the best you should be great in 2 of the 3 positions. Who were the twins that moved in from Alabama? They were awesome on their feet but nothing on top and I don't think they were great on bottom so neither one ever on state championship.

As long as you host it at a school that has a basketball game that night you will run 4 mats. Westview runs 4 mats and it gets done around 4:30 - 5:00.

I have no doubt that you know what you are talking about. I have witnessed you coach and watched your sons for years. I also know that you travel to a bunch of tournaments. My only question is what have we fallen from? It isn't like we are or have ever been recognized for producing a ton of great wrestlers. I will say over the past 10 years we have seen some great kids come through the state, your kids included, but I don't think that is necessarily going to change. We may be in a dip right now but I would not say we are falling. I could be wrong though.

I am sorry I am such a doofus with a Dekalb education. I wasn't thinking. The way our draws work now with 4 feeding in. Someone from that regional will have to be in his bracket.

I would agree. From time to time you get a phenom that no one can touch. But for the most part if you take 2 great wrestlers and put them against each multiple times it is going to go back and forth.

Agreed. Over the last 10 to 15 years it has only gotten better. There was a pretty big group of undefeated kids coming through a few years ago. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything nationally.

I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he was still sick from mono. That is too bad he is a great kid and wrestler.

Since I just saw Petrov's name it reminded of his his state finals last year. He had one of the best displays I have seen in my 20 years of going to the State finals.
