  1. Not a summer tournament but a nice big Folkstyle tournament over in Columbus, Ohio. http://www.ohiotofc.com/ It is about a month away though. A lot of good wrestlers there.
  2. Intermediate 55 has 35 kids registered. Intermediate 60 has 35 kids registered. Intermediate 65 has 43 kids registered. What is the largest you've seen in a weight class for the state tournament? it might make for a long day, but you have to love some of the #'s we are seeing for this.
  3. I have heard of it, seen it down in the area. However, I have never heard anything about it from other people. I'm not even sure if there is much else in the area.
  4. Maybe, they are worried about those couple extra kids that might now show up to seeing the participating list. I heard a couple kids not going because they know there are a couple kids that will be there that they got beat by. It's a shame, they don't have the killer attitude yet and fight for it everytime. However, it would be nice to see the list growing up until Wednesday. Should have a lot of competitors this year as it seems to have more and more kids everytime I go.
  5. Those weight classes at Beech Grove on Sunday were loaded with a lot of good young kids. Should be A LOT of kids in those weight classes. Everytime I see those weights at a tourney, there is at least 12. I can't imagine how many will be there for state. Unfortunately for our club(Whiteland), most of our guys are beginners and most are not participating in state and freestyle either. Starting a club from scratch is pretty rough with getting kids pumped for these types of tournaments.
  6. From watching the live feed, Yorktown, seems to be a very defensive wrestling team. Mishiwaka is attacking left and right showing solid shots and takedowns. 21-11 after 152, I think Mishiwaka is going to roll with it from here on out.
  7. Whiteland had 28 kids there. I was there first thing in the morning at 8 am. Wrestling didn't start til about 10:45 or so, slightly earlier in the other gym with Women's wrestling first. I didn't leave until 7 pm. The kid had 3 matches all day, and two of them were the last 15 minutes of the day. Another one of our wrestlers didn't wrestle his first match until 3 pm. Kind of dissapointed by the tournament. The whole faxed/email weigh in thing, is for the sole purpose of speeding up tournaments. I don't understand allowing some people to be register if they didn't previously fill anything out. If there was a mistake that left them out then, okay, but try to have enough help to fix these problems within a half hour. We know most tournaments start late, but they usually get going in the half hour range sometimes up to an hour. I wish a lot of tournaments would get away from the splitting up age/weight groups. I'd rather see a 16 or 32 man bracket, instead of 4, 5 or 6 different Intermediate 60's. Most kids only get about 3-4 matches out of that. If done correctly, you could easily get the large groups started first, and worked their way through even in the large bracket and completed in a timely manner. The whole 2-3 matches only thing is a bit of a waste.
  8. We were there last year. Started a little late, not much, but that's to be expected at any tournament anymore. Once rolling it ran very smooth and kept it at a steady pace. As I remember plenty of room for spectators, and a lot of room for wrestling. I believe they had 8 mats going and was out at a pretty good time as well. Whiteland Wrestling Club is full of beginners and we are bringing 32 kids in all, from Pee-Wee to Cadet.
  9. Whiteland will have about around our 15 or so club members there. I'm guessing this will be a bigger on since Perry usually puts on some pretty good tournaments. Let's hope for another quick starting well ran tournament.
  10. Clark Pleasant is giving up about half of their weight classes. We only had 3 guys win matches, 1 by fall, two by decisions and a forfeit on our half. Moorseville is one solid looking wrestling team. For the youngsters they are, they are very aggresive and like to go after you. Congrats on the win, you guys look like you work very hard in practice.
  11. Whiteland wrestling club will be at Franklin. Last year was ran very well and went very smooth.
  12. Hmm.. There is always Bdub's, love the boneless Mango Habenero wings. A new cajun place called J. Gumbo's, with lots of tasty adult beverages to choose from. Jimmy John's if you're in a hurry. I would say King David Dog's but they are only open Mon-Friday 11-4. Best hot dogs in Indy.
