  1. Remember this is due by Friday the 6th. So hit up your ad if you haven't done so already.
  2. Just a heads up at 220 the Kilgore Hare result is listed twice in both of their results. They only wrestled once. Also Kilgore McKeever wrestled 4-0 Kilgore. It's not in either of their results.
  3. Whitley County where I coach would pry be Matt Koontz, that's the only champ I believe. Columbia City has a few high placers you could throw out there as well. Wells County where I'm from would be either Ben Sprunger or Randy Pursley. Those two are real similar. Pursley went 6-3-1 and I'm pretty sure Sprubger went 2-1 his junior and senior year. Anyone know off the top of their heads what Springer did as a fresh/soph or Pursley as a Frosh?
  4. I followed the prompts. I just have no clue what "matching teams, matching athletes, and dumping matches" is or does. I also would bet most of the other coaches in the state would have no clue how to do those things as well. Either way I called track this morning and the guy acted as though it was something that the tourney director would handle. He was very helpful and the issue was fixed. So I guess to put a button on this issue could someone explain how to match teams, match athletes and dump matches so that others wont have the same problem.
  5. It is currently only importing our placement matches, the rest cannot be found. Any thing I can do about that?
  6. If you wrestle in a tournament that is ran on track do you have to import anything for the matches to show up on your results, or is this something that the host school has to do? We were in a tournament last friday, and about 1/4 of the matches are currently on our guys results. Just figured that I am missing something, thanks.
  7. I think Marion has a nice team this year as well, may be flying under the radar a bit. 220 has a potential to have a pretty solid group in the semi's.
  8. Curious if anyone knows the story on this team. They look to be really solid, and their rise seems to have came rather quickly. According to the results section they went from 2015 0-7 to 2016 22-4. Anyone know is it a good class, youth program, new coaching? Just curious.
  9. Thought I'd give a call-out to former Churubusco state qualifier Jason Nicodemus and the St. Francis Cougars on bringing home the NAIA national championship! I am pretty sure there were some other former wrestlers on that squad, anyone know any?
  10. For Busco Kilgore defeated McKeever (Carroll) 4-0 and Camp (Garrett) 1-0. At 138 # 5 Hicks (Carroll) over #4 Leazier (Busco) I'm pretty sure it was 7-6.
  11. I was on the commitee and thought it was a very interesting and fair process. There were a large group of coaches representing each area of the state and a lot of calm discussion took place, and the whole group had to more or less agree. I came into it thinking it would get pretty heated, but everyone really seemed to be working toward doing what was best for the tournament, real calm, a lot of thought and calm discussion went into it. It would have been very hard to make a sectional drastically weaker and have everybody agree. I can't recall each change, but the changes as a whole seemed pretty fair from what all I remember. Curious what sectional and figure are you referring to? It is pretty inflammatory throwing accusations that coaches are trying to cheat the system out there.
  12. I just saw on the site that they were NCAA compliant and NHSCA approved, so not NFHSA. At the state clinic they talked about headgear that were similar to what soccer goalies wear that were not approved. I did a quick image search and they look pretty similar.
  13. I came across these headgear in a wrestling catalog the other day. I thought they looked pretty sweet, and just had a 6th grader ask me if those "were cool?" Anyhow I have to know if I am crazy for thinking these look good. Also anyone know if they are legal? http://batstoi.com
  14. 220- JT Kilgore Busco over Austin Evans Lakeland 7-6
  15. At the fall clinic it sounded like it would be offered as an option, not required.
  16. I think the t-shirts make a big difference. I I saw a kid at the IHPO wearing a two piece singlet, so essentially compression shorts and a tight fitting shirt. I thought it looked great. The shirts are way less revealing than the singlets. Both are tight fitting, and I always just thought of the tiny sleeves on the t-shirts, and thought it wouldn't make that big of a difference, but it really did. The area you really notice it at is the chest, underarms, and back. Most singlets have a 5X7 or so cut out on the chest, back, and arms? That ends up being a lot of extra material. You really see it when a guy in a singlet is wrestling a guy in shorts/ tight tee. I think that the new uniforms will be a big time positive for the sport. They don't take away anything, and imo add a lot of positives. From a marketing stand point the new singlets will be a huge improvement. I would love to be able to support my favorite wrestlers and college teams by wearing their singlet shirt around. Besides the fact that people like them, and that singlets are somewhat traditional is there any rational reason why they are better than the new uniform?
  17. We always go later, and have the kids get down before taking them. We use Tanitas. I have always wondered what difference it would make if we went early.
  18. Any update on this? Anyone know what will happen to a team if they cant find a coach?
  19. Curious if anyone knows the status on some of the teams still listed as being without coaches? Anyone think that schools may have trouble filling positions? I hope that is not the case, but it seems like with the current state of education, the time commitment that coaching takes, and the lack of available teachers that schools will start having real trouble find people to take over programs.
  20. Not trolling just kind of a fun topic in a dead time of the year. I don't think that this would ever be considered, but am curious in finding out if others thought this would encourage more action, or if people thought it would even be a feasible way to score matches. My thought is simple, it's more exciting seeing guys shoot than watching guys wait for the other guy to fire in there. If your reward for shooting was a possible 3 points, while the consequence is only a point against you, I think you'd see more guys with attacking mentalities. Also as far as trolling goes, I think that finding ways to innovate our sport is a serious topic. My idea for scoring this way came from a question about the first takedown being worth three points that was on the NFHS survey a few years ago. Finding ways to increase action and scoring in wrestling seem like serious topics to me.
  21. Totally agree with those saying that this would cause some judgement calls by the official about who would be the aggressor. A snap to a front head would constitute being the aggressor, and in my opinion would be a higher point td. A fronthead movement off of someone else's shot would be considered a defensive td in this situation. Any officials out there have any opinions on if something like this would be feasible. I think it would take communication from the ref's "green is the aggressor" something like that. Similarly were do our current rules stand on the referee communicating with the wrestlers during matches? Is it encouraged, ref's choice, discouraged?
  22. Every year at the coaches clinic a discussion about rules changes comes up. There is always talk about making wrestling more exciting, so I've spent some time thinking about ways to make wrestling more exciting. With that in mind what do you think about scoring "offensive" takedowns- double, single, etc. as 2 or even three points, and defensive takedowns- fronthead, front 1/4, etc. as one point? I think this would encourage aggressive wrestling as there would be a reward in attacking, and your not going to be in a huge hike for taking a chance. Anyone think this is a feasible option? What problems do you think scoring like this would produce? Also has something similar to this been attempted before?
