  1. So this would be similar to what you would expect based on the data when we look at classes, school size has no effect when it comes to being a qualifier. In terms of placers bigger schools are doing better. Given that it looks like we need to figure out how to get the top end kids at small schools to that next level. Is classing the best way to do that? I think that makes for a good debate, anyone else have any ideas?
  2. Yeah, I think it would be interesting to see if the percentages of the population argument held up in that situation.
  3. Does anyone have the data for enrollments? I would be interested to see how the numbers look if you simply based it off total population of students, instead of classes... So if you took the total populations, divide by three, and then see were the state qualifiers and placers came from...
  4. Mainly Indiana for sure, but there have been Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois schools as well. The majority have been in state though.
  5. Pretty much every kid I have had who made it to at least semi-state received either some sort of letter, call, or conversation with interested college coaches...
  6. This post had me wonder how the populations of wrestlers vs total population of the state looks. From 2014. Indiana Ohio Illinois Population 6.597 Million 11.59 Million 12.88Million Wrestlers 7,512 11,433 16,022
  7. Yes, that would be true. I have no problem admitting that this is a possible fault in my argument, no questions. I believe there are several possible reasons for why you see a drop in the number of placers and qualifiers at small schools, but I can admit that this is the one level that the class wrestling argument may hold some relevance.
  8. If things were fair obviously the 10 % of the kids who go to small schools would make up 33% of the qualifiers. Common sense.
  9. Didn't Pruitt hit one into a Peterson on Lawrence in the the finals last year?
  10. Casual if we had classes we would be treated as a team sport and not an individual is basically what I've been told. I felt there was a little confusion from the IHSAA on exactally what we wanted, but I felt that the IHSAA didn't seem real keen on having us have a multi class team championship, and a 1 class individual tournament. I also didn't get the vibe that they were real interested in having our individual portion classed at this point as none of the other individual sports are classed.
  11. I get everything that is being stated above, but other than giving us more clout with the IHSAA I don't see how having a three week tournament really helps out our sport. I see a lot of discussion about how small teams need more representation at state, but wouldn't having less opportunities to make it to regionals and semi-state negatively effect the small schools even more? That would mean less patches, less sectional champ pictures on the wall, less accomplishments and opportunities overall. I'm not being snarky here in the least, just legitimately wondering what positives it would bring.

  13. Cool, if that is the case then everything should be covered with that... As long as it says 6 qualifying then your good.
  14. I'm pretty sure that the program we enter the weight into is only looking for you being at or above the minimum weight as stated on your alpha weigh in. So as long as you are above that weight it's qualifying according to the program even though it might not be according to the rule. So if your minimum weight is 125, and you go 125.4, 130, then back to 125.9 I think they would all be qualifying according to the program because I don't think it takes the 1.5%into account, it just looks for you being above that minimum weight. Anyone know if I'm correct or not on that?
  15. Bellmont vs. Yorktown at team regional in like '09... was a great dual. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I'm pretty sure Bellmont needed to win the last two matches by extra points to win the dual, and both matches were either supposed to be close, or Yorktown slight favorites. Either way Busse pinned Castner in the last match to get the Bellmont win. That was probably the best duel that I have seen. Another fun match, probably not the best ever, but exciting none the less, was Busco vs AC in the team state finals in 14. Came down to the last match, the kids stormed the mat. The next weekend at Adams Central we wrestled again for the championship at the Adams Central Super Duels. That match was the most intense match i've coached in at a run of the mill 5-way, it was really close again, and the fans were super into it.
  16. Summitmeasurement.net They were a sponsor for the fall clinic and offer good prices. If your interested email me and I'll give you the email address of the lady I worked with, she was great.
  17. Ran out of time. I assumed that the Hoosier Heritage with Yorktown and Delta would have a pretty solid showing as well.
  18. Stole this from the NE8 Topic, but didn't want to highjack their thread. Anyhow here are the semistate ranked kids by conference, so there is a bunch you could discuss... What conference is the best right now? Who will get the most to state? Who would win an all-star event between the conferences? If I miss any let me know. I just did the NE8, NECC, ACAC, and SAC feel free to add the others. NE8- 14 Ranked 106: #6 Spaw (East Noble) 120 #5 Boyce (DeKalb) 126 #1 Becker (Bellmont) 138 #3 Gutierrez (Bellmont) #5 Hissong (Leo) 152 #2 Reed (Columbia City) 160 #3 Busse (Bellmont) #4 Weimer (East Noble) #5 Potter (New Haven) 170 #2 Baumgartner (Bellmont) #8 Johnson (New Haven) 182 #8 Friedt (Bellmont) 195 #3 Hankenson (Bellmont) 285 #5 Shaw (Bellmont) NECC- 21 Ranked 106 #3 Shearer (Garrett) #8 Buchanon (Prairie Heights) 113 #4 Schoeff (Central Noble) #8 Walters (Prairie Heights) 120 #8 Hoyer (Prairie Heights) 126 #4 Rasler (Prairie Heights) #6 Burrell (Angola) #8 Burns (Eastside) 132 #4 Moore (Central Noble) #7 Meyer (Angola) 138 #Leazier (Busco) 145 #1 Rasler (Prairie Heights) #6 Jiminez-Aguirre (Garrett) 160 #2 Levitz (Prairie Heights) 182 # 3 Blakeley (Prairie Heights) 195 #4 Rasler (West Noble) #7 Villioncourt (Lakeland) 220 #2 Kilgore (Busco) #5 Evans (Lakeland) #7 Davis (Garrett) 285 #7 Camp (Garrett) ACAC- 12 Ranked 113 #2 Miller- (South Adams) #5 Schuller (Woodlan) #6 Mosser (Adams Central) 132 #2 Mosser (Adams Central) #8 Fiechter (Southern Wells) 138 #4 Macklin (Adams Central) 145 #4 Winner (Jay County) #8 Zink (Woodlan) 152 #3 Leonhard (Jay County) 160 # 6 Hemmelgarn (Jay County) 195 #6 Baumgartner (South Adams) 220 #1 Hare (Jay County) SAC-6 Ranked 106 #7 Smith- Goheen (Dwenger) 145 #7 Ochoa (Northrop) 152 #5 Woenker (Luers) 160 #7 Johnson (Wayne) 195 #8 Hart (Wayne) 285 #6 Ault (NorthSide)
  19. The regional multiplier isn't meant to determine which sectional and regional has the most top end kids, it is meant to determine the overall strength of the regional based on all of the teams in the regional, not just the top end teams. Most years the Carroll regional has had many more mid level teams than the jay county regional. So it kind of looked like this- Jay County Top End teams Yorktown Belmont Mid level AC Jay county. Muncie central. Delta. South Adams. Carroll Top end Carroll Mid level Columbia city Busco Garrett Dwenger Leo Snider New haven Homestead Woodlan Huntington north Usual a random FW school
  20. Bumping this up. Coaches make sure you get this filled out today!
  21. Important topic here. My wife's birthday is sectional Saturday and I'm gonna take her out to the Fort for a nice evening. So about what time do sectionals finish up? Y2 if I could get an approx on Carroll that would really help!
