  1. Sidenote: Nagao of Minnesota hits the portal. Someone's going to get a multi-time high placer and championship contender. He's turned into a hammer.
  2. Big news for sure. Just checking: is there any precedent for fans in Indiana being willing to cheer for a Michigan heavyweight?
  3. Top guy in the portal. Wonder why he and Cannon are heading out..looking for a certain Masters program?
  4. Looking back, all of the top 10 were so close to each other. It was probably seeded the most logical way it could have been. No big 10 guys had wins against the top 7 seeds. Silas had 3 convincing losses to that group, including twice to #7 seed Sloan. Dean lost to two of that group also. It's true that two of the Big 10's 8-10 seeds ended up 5th and 7th. But the 7-seed Sloan was seeded very logically because of his several losses to people above him and wins over Silas below him. And he ends up 2nd. So was he "disrespected"? And Silas was Big 10 champ and doesn't AA. Seems like they did ok within their strict rules of using only current season data.
  5. What were the biggest surprises or "wow" moments at NCAAs? For me, obviously the Ramos upset was huge. But we already saw Ramos ragdoll Lee for a while once before, so it was somehow on our radar. I was almost more shocked by Arujau's overall performance. To boatrace Fix and RBY like that was ultra impressive. Number 3 surprise for me might have been O'Toole turning the tables so convincingly on Carr. The "wow" moment that got me out of my seat in the finals was definitely the Alirez throw. G-Rooks finishing off Van Ness to earn at least Top 6 would have made my top 3 surprises too. That match's finish was the biggest "NOO!!!" moment of the tournament for me.
  6. Interesting stuff. Not a coincidence that of the 5 people that hit 3+ choices from the "perfect" lineup, 4 finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, T4th. And I was the only person lucky enough to hit 4 from that perfect lineup and it got me the win. Also, Arujau, McNeil, Sloan were only taken once in our game and their selectors got 1st, 3rd, T4th.
  7. I'll get a final leaderboard out this afternoon with full listing of points by pickems entry/wrestler/weight so we can all double check I didn't miss something!
  8. Geez, Hendrickson is an absolute animal. Him against Parris would be very, very interesting. It's always interesting to see guys make a big jump from year to year
  9. Two more points for 5th or 7th place victories. Three more points for 3rd place victories. Five added points for wins in the finals.
  10. Leaderboard after consolation semi's. Everything done but placement matches and finals.
  11. Yeah, we definitely shouldnt be fooled because of the upset. Glory is the clear favorite. Ramos will need to produce another special performance.
  12. Ramos is interesting to watch because I have the feeling he can score on his feet anytime he wants when he's committed and fearless. But if he's facing a lesser or "equal" opponent, he seems to fall into a standard conservative approach that leaves behind much of his toolbelt. Then he can be beaten. If he approaches Glory like an equal, he'll get dominated tonight. If we see his fearless version, it will be an incredible match.
  13. Pages 2 and 3 of the Nationals thread is where people were reacting to it
  14. Points through Quarters and Consos Round 3 are below: (9 points for anyone who made the semi's because of being guaranteed at least 6th and 5 points for guys who have Mendez and Amine as their wildcards that already guaranteed their 5-point bonus)
  15. If it's any consolation, I had a really hard time choosing that 5-7 range also because there's a lot of good value in there. Andonian and Smith are definitely guys we all looked at too, so those are the others you could have lost.
  16. Rundown of people's lineups: 125: Lee x 11, Poulin, McKee 133: Mendez x 5, Byrd x 3, Latona x 2, Nagao, RBY, Vito 141: Bartlett x 6, Jack x 2, Hardy, McNeil, Young, Woods, Hart 149: Yianni x 6, Gomez x 4, Blockhus, Murin, Henson 157: Andonian x 5, Coleman x 2, Saldate x 2, Humphreys x 2, Cardenas, Robb 165: Amine x 4, Monday x 3, Hamiti x 2, Griffith, Kharchla, Olejnik, Facundo 174: Starocci x 7, Lewis x 2, Smith x 2, Picklo, Jordan 184: Brooks x 10, Finesilver, Wittlake, Assad 197: Allred x 5, Dean x 4, Sloan, Beard, Elam, Smith 285: Kerkvliet x 7, Davison x 4, Hillger, Elam Pretty good variety. You'd need to take at least one guy who's been taken by 2 guys or less even if you're trying to copy everyone.
  17. Wrote this in another thread: so much chalk so far! That always means a calm before the storm because it makes that second round VERY interesting for all the big names. 197's higher seeds went 17-0. Ha
  18. A lot of chalk in the first round: 8 pick'ems entries go undefeated, bigballerb, Sig40, & Argyll lose 1, rookie78 loses 2, and Base's "heck of it" entry loses 3 That wide-open 197 weight we're all so interested in went literally 17-0 for the higher seeds. Ha.
  19. Just realized you copied and pasted Argyll's entry (definitely not just same guys..all same style and caps). I'm guessing that was an accident? I'm guessing you just wanted the format but forgot to enter your own guys..woops, sorry about that.
