  1. I'm not a fan of the new emphasis on mat celebrations and that it could potentially cost a team point. If there is a problem with the way wrestlers act after a match I would have to rank crying and smiling after a pin as way more offensive and need to be stopped.
  2. Im afraid I don't catch the uniforms but I did see two scapulas touching the mat! And wasn't the original complaint about not being able to see the best match under lights? Going back to the old way and making the state champion be a champion at every level and not taking the runner ups would not be recognizing the more talented areas of the state. McGill and Cosgrove from a few years back come to mind. The idea of the state tournament series is to get the top tier of wrestlers to indy so they can let it all hang out, its not perfect but it does get the job done. ps if you don't like where these conversations go stop reading. last i checked its the off season and there not that many people on here anyway
  3. Last time I checked we do things differently now and I don't see us going back to that way anytime soon. And Woodson did what he needed to do to be a state champion and should of been a two time champ had two shoulders counted for a pin no matter how many points you are down.
  4. Yes because the goal is not to be a sectional, regional or semi-state champion but a State Champion. I understand what your saying but your not taking into account what it means to be clutch and coming through when all the pressure is on. I've always thought it was a small constellation prize anyway to say you beat the State champion because there is only one response after saying that.."Why weren't you State Champion then?"
  5. We find out more who is wrestling their best that weekend, than we find out who is the best, often. No not really if your the best you will prove it. What happens is that too many people have predictions and when they don't come true they say things like that. Actions speak louder than words and the state tournament is only held one weekend every year so stop making excuses.
  6. Last time I checked we were talking about the state tournament not some usa wrestling event during the summer. All the guys who make it to state are not looking to go 2-2 and considered that to be a win. If your at state your good enough to win it and that should be your goal. The big picture is not state this is where we all come to find out who is the best of the best with no if, ands, or buts allowed.
  7. You people worry about second place way to much its a tournament not a rankings system. The only reason any of us our there is to find out who the BEST in each weight class is. There is nothing unfair about how a tournament works.
  8. Didn't Wilderman get beat he jr. year the round to go to state and from what i remember many from the evansville semi-state knew who he was and what he was capable of doing.
  9. Didn't Lawrence North back in the 90's have a semi-state 1,2,3, and 4th placer all win state? Who was the forth placer to do it?
  10. Having any wrestling tournaments during the next three Saturdays is a disgrace not only to Indiana wrestling as a whole but to all the families that are forced into this position. Last time I checked wrestling this late in the season is not only an honor but a great accomplishment.
  11. I only see the fans point of view being represented for these venues. With reguards to these venues we need to keep in mind if there is enough room next to the mat that good wrestling wont end up in the bleachers or falling over mats that are overlapping.
  12. I have heard of at least one middle school tournament this weekend and do not understand why. Could someone explain why any middle school would have a tournament during the tournament series and why would anyone else agree to come?
  13. Sounds like BS was well aware how wrestlers listen and had people keeping people out of places they didn't need to be. Too bad Mishawaka can't find a few of these individuals for the Al Smith Classic, Im kind of tired of hearing the announcement for people not wrestling to not be on lower level.
  14. A wash? Im thinkin thats a little over the top wrestling varsity is not jv or the room. Also will Beck be allowed back next year or will he need to finish up at Penn?
  15. who cares who has the biggest stadium if all the seats r empty. i think the real question is who has the best semi state attendance?
  16. Would it be possible to move this to Worthern Arena at Ball State? There would be more room for mats and the stands would not be as close but im not sure if Ball State wouldn't charge an arm and a leg to use there venue.
  17. Mish can not be expected to be the same team after losing a top wrestler like Beck this late in the season
  18. Im confused where in there do you answer the question? I mean thanks for the general information it really proves your point.
  19. I know its supposed to be a random draw for team state but it seems like some of the same teams meet in the first round all the time. Like Bellmont and Perry have met over the past couple of years and before Perry was Franklin Community. Does anyone have the data to show how "random" these draws are?
  20. Scherer beat Johnson the year before he was runner-up
  21. Fernando Martinez and Ethan Harris are two that come to mind as well
  22. Famous Dave's Barbecue is mighty fine
  23. 2006 Aarron Sessa's last match can't remember who he got beat by
  24. how about when he asks to wrestle? and yes i mean he, this is not an equal opportunity sport
