  1. I believe Chesterton is there as well.
  2. If there's anything recent events should have shown is that the big fat cat criminals (bank bailouts, anyone?) get away with murder and the little guy gets hosed. Remember when Napster was a free file-exchange service (I may be dating myself with this question) and then Metallica got their tights in a bunch and forced the recording industry to come down on regular Joe's (no offense, Y2) and fine the bejeebers out of them? If that isn't going after the little guy, I don't know what is. I'm neither endorsing or decrying duplicating copyrighted material, just pointing out that you may just want to omit the "burned copy" bit when referring to the video.
  3. I was thinking more along the line of the feds, but go ahead, flaunt it if you like.
  4. I don't know if I'd say that too loudly as I believe those IHSAA videos/DVDs are copyrighted and duplication is prohibited.
  5. www.broadcastsport.net will be doing both days and from both gyms on Tuesday. Just an aside, if you're a business and looking to sponsor this event, please go to their website. I know it's a little late to add that, but I told one of their people that I would mention it.
  6. Wednesday the semifinals are at 9am and the finals introductions at 1:30pm EST.
  7. Oh, I'm also supposed to mention that www.broadcastsport.net is covering both days of the tournament--both gyms on the first day.
  8. www.freewebs.com/wrestlingod I'm also emailing Joe the brackets so he can post them on this site.
  9. Let's not even discuss what we used to do to ourselves to cut weight, as well all know most if not all "techniques" (and I use that term loosely) are now strictly forbidden.
  10. What weight did the Miles kid from Winamac wrestle? And you're correct: taking only the top two from regionals eliminated a good number of capable wrestlers because of not taking 4 placers. But you have to admit it did make Merrillville functional as a semistate site with regards to seating.
  11. Two more (basically because I'm bored at work and am waiting until I can scram for the holiday): --With only 8 wrestlers per bracket, the Merrillville high school was more than adequate as a semistate venue and people weren't sitting on top of each other? --Asics wrestling shoes used to be known as "Onitsuka Tigers?"
  12. Then it must have been every year but his senior year he got eliminated. Remember, that's back when only the top two advanced out of regionals. I just remember Moon would have either an undefeated or one loss record and lose first round (prior to his senior season).
  13. Oh, I forgot some of the best ones: --Converse made canvas wrestling shoes (think Chuck Taylors) and you were darn happy to have a pair? --Matches were rarely stopped for blood unless it was a gusher?
  14. --There was a 98 lb weight class? --Heavyweight (and it was called heavyweight) began at 186 lbs and had no ceiling? --100% nylon singlets? (you wrestlers now have it so lucky with lycra) --The technical fall didn't exist, just decisions, major decisions, and pins? --No overtime in dual meets when tied at regulation? Each team got two points. --The super dual for the most part didn't exist? Bracketed tournaments were the norm. --Teams wrestled primarily in weeknight dual matches? --It was normal to have maybe twenty matches going into sectionals? Feel free to add to the list. This is more for the older section on the board, though.
  15. Didn't Moon always get knocked out of the Crown Point regional every year? I wrestled back then and remember that happening.
  16. Historically the Al Smith finals have been found here: http://www.mishawaka.k12.in.us/mhs_files/Athletics/athletics.htm and/or herewww.broadcastsport.net
  17. The seeding meeting is Sunday the 28th. Brackets will be sent to Joe as soon as possible.
