  1. I have seen both and I think Boston takes this won. Although Boomsma is good, he is not in the same arena...
  2. Austin and family...I have known since the days at Team Champion with you. You were good people. What you did yesterday showed, you all are a class act. I have seen others in a similiar situation, where the coach or parent told the wrestler to stay down so they could get the DQ. Top notch in my book... I am very glad you are OK...Good luck in all your future match`s. TBD
  3. This is hear say but what i was told is that it was tied. Keifer stopped wrestling when the clock ran out. Official kept match going because he said there was 5 secs. that should have been on the clock because it did not start when the match di. He supposedly said he was counting this in his head. Again this is hear say. I was not standing there. What did Lance, Robert and the official say. Has anyone talked to those three?
  4. I, like many of you am a Phillips fan...I also know that Todd is a beast as well. This kid went out there and left it all on the mat. He dominated this match. Great job all day...You looked great...
  5. I watched the match and McKinley did stall. Keifer should have been awarded a point when McKinley fled the mat. If that would have occured the take down would not have happened because the would have been brought back to the center of the mat. In saying that, the takedown was questionable anyway. Some refs would have said they were out. Very poor officiating. In sayiong that. This was neither wrestlers fault. They both wrestled an awsome match and both of their heads should be held high. I look forward to another rematch.
  6. I posted last week that I did not think Lock from Shelbyville would advance yesterday because I felt he got lucky to make it out of Sectionals. I still feel that he got lucky last week at Sectional but I was able to watch his 2 losses yesterday. One to McGinley and one to Cottey. I think he looked good in both matches. Good luck to all wrestlers next week at Semi State. We start Monday working towards next year. Again good luck to all Especially to Barajas, Martin and Netherton from FC.
  7. At 103 I don`t see lock from Shelbyville making it past round 1. Got lucky at Sectional. McGinley Whitten Cottey and Bass
  8. Congratulations to Seth Vaughn #215 Champion and Logan Hall and his second place finish. Also to the rest of the Freshman team for their third place finish. Awsome job guys... Go FC Flashes
  9. Over the last several years that is just about all he has done. One jarhead to another, He will be the 103 state champion. No one in this state can beat him at 103. Probably 112 as well.
  10. Of all the National exposure Nathan Boston has had over the years, I can`t believe he is not ranked nationally...
  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! May they all come back 2 lbs heavier
  12. Great tournament, A lot of incredible match`s. Hats off to all the wrestlers. You kids put on a great show for all us old farts to watch!!! Congrats to Austin Netherton 215 tournament Champion...FC
  13. I think shaking hands witht he coaches after a match promotes good sportsmanship. If a coach spits on a wrestler when they come over to shake his hand, the coach should be banned for life from coaching in the IHSAA. Not shaking the hand of the coach instills an attitude in the wrestler of disrespect. The wrestler needs to say it on the mat not in an action of disrespect afterwards.
  14. I thought Kayla was an eighth grader this year?
  15. Congratulations to PM on the team victory. As always you guys looked awsome. Hats off to Jacob Cottey over my boy in the finals. Top notch kid and wrestler!!!
  16. Are there any of these guys moving up in weight this year? Where will they be?
  17. This is truly a horrible thing and our prayers are with the Wise family. We are truly sorry for your loss... John, Becky and Travis McMillan
  18. The question posed was how to get more wrestlers to fiel our teams. The way it is done now is not doing that. Your reply is to leave it the way it is. That solves nothing. What they do in other states may or may not work for them. What we are doing here is not working for us.
  19. Than be prepared for Indiana to continue as a whole to be behind other states because until the problem of being able to put the best we have on the mat. We will continue to be second third and so on. I f you don`t want to declare a weight than there could be a provision that a wrestler who was not in enough competition to be seede at a weight could receive a blind draw for that weight. Keep in mind that they would be put with the seeded wrestlers first. If they are the best than they will win. Saying this, it gives the wrestlers who win week in and week out the chance not to meet the other kids right off the bat who are the same calibre. By doing this, we will have the absolute best meeting in the end for first and second.
  20. I would suggest that the ISWA start useing true placement in how their tournaments are done. Get the best wrestlers on these teams and only then will you see more participation. My only interest in posting this is to improve the quality of Indiana wrestling. My kid is a freshman next year. You have people who are running things that have been doing so for a long time in some cases. When they started, maybe the way things were done was the best way at the time. The problem is that, their way is the only way. When you have the best kids meeting each other in rounds one and two of tournaments that will determing the placement of wrestlers on these teams is wrong. I have not been around youth wrestling as long as they have so my opinion, like yours does not count. Start useing qualifying tournaments to seed wrestlers.
  21. Great wrestling both days. Really quality match`s. Tournament progressed at a good pace. In fact, it seemed it was at times going too fast, if that is possible. We had kids on several mats at the same time and was hard to get back and forth in time. Congratulatios to all the wrestlers exspecially the kids that placed. From what I saw there was some very stiff competition at all ages and weights. You kids wrestled great. You should be proud of yourselves.
  22. Can I get some contacts from interested schools and individuals who are interested in exploring this option. We can start working out some details after the state tournaments are over. We do need to get a tentative date to try and have a meeting. All opinions are encouraged. If we can get this up and running, I would like to see this being the best thing to happen for our sport in a long time. The only way this will happen would be to get everyones input so we know your thoughts on what would be good and what would be bad. I will keep posting here occasionally to keep this at the top of the board. I don`t want it to be an out of sight and out of mind thing. If no action is taken, it will never happen. John
  23. Not sure what school system you are in but In Franklin Twp. We don`t have homework during ISTEP. T usually has at least two hours of homework a night. This is in addition to wrestling. He still makes it to bed by 10:00. In reallity, I think doing the tournaments during this time of the year is probably the best time to do them. If the kids want to wrestle, they are doing what they want to do. What kid wants to do homework? They are resting from the schoolwork. They are wrestling because they want to, not because they have to. Just my thoughts. TBD
