  1. I also have to say extremely impressed with Quiroz, he pulled out some big wins to get to the finals as a freshman.
  2. Good luck to the Yorktown men and Travis Kepner from Benton Central.
  3. I see 3 in the finals there and a couple possible champs.
  4. I somehow got away with "well if you want us to spend time together just come to SemiState and see me." Thankfully she just lives a few miles down from the Coliseum, so it wasn't even out of the way.
  5. Where can we see how many times we've visited?
  6. I plan on writing an article summarizing the State tournament for the Muncie area wrestlers and submitting it to them, any chance they'll actually publish it?
  7. Those stats wouldn't come out as clear. Some conferences are almost completely filled with teams also in the same sectional and/or regional. Other conferences are filled with teams that are all part of several sectionals and regionals. Because of that some confence opponents would be able to eliminate each other in sectionals and regionals. Others may never even face someone form their concerence until semi-state or possibly even state. Exactly, plus it wouldn't really have any affect on the road to state, conference doesn't play much, if any, role other than as another tournament. That's just my opinion though.
  8. Chemistry teacher 3/4 of the year and E-Waste and Green Business Consultant during the summer and when I can during the year.
  9. There, double checked with the state brackets and IHSAA progression, it all adds up now. It should be right now.
  10. Thanks, I like doing statistical analysis and looking for yearly trends. You would think I was a math teacher, but no.
  11. I'll go over them this evening when I have the spreadsheet in front of me and go over them again, maybe with some coffee.
  12. I knew my eyes were going cross by the time I finished up, but wow. This is just embarrassing. Any more?
  13. I obviously counted someone twice in both of those, I'll fix them. Thanks for the catch.
  14. I got bored last night and ranked the sectionals and regionals by the number of state qualifiers produced by each. I may be off by 1 here or there, I was tired and couldn't sleep. Any surprises? I know I had several. Statistically each sectional should have 7 qualifiers and each regional 14. Regionals 1 - Jay County, 25 2 - Castle, Pendelton Heights, 21 4 - Mooresville, Rochester, 17 6 - Laporte, Perry Meridian, 15 8 - Bloomington South, Calumet, Goshen, Logansport, 12 12 - Carroll, Northmont, 11 14 - Richmond, 9 15 - Peru, 8 16 - Jeffersonville, 6 Sectionals 1 - Lawrence Central, 14 2 - Delta, Mishawaka, 13 4 - Jay County, 12 5 - Evansville Central, 11 6 - Castle, Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff, Mooresville, 10 10 - Elkhart Memorial, 9 11 - Carroll, Decatur Central, 8 13 - Avon, Hamilton Heights, Warren Central, Zionsville, 7 17 - Calumet, East Chicago Central, Jennings County, Northview, South Dearborn, 6 22 - Laporte, Oak Hill, 5 24 - Crawfordsville, Jeffersonville, Plymouth, 4 27 - New Haven, Peru, Shenandoah, Westview, 3 31 - Southridge, Twin Lakes, 2
  15. There are several that were finals at the Delta sectional even that were finals at the FW semistate. That makes for a really tough road.
  16. Will he be at full health for State? He's a real solid wrestler, hate to see injuries defeat someone.
  17. Petrov is good, but he won't beat Kenny. How did Petrov get 4th? I was shocked to see that, that will be an amazing first round matchup with 2 guys who deserve to stand on the podium.
  18. That's a good way of doing it. I would say under that criteria Crown Point or Mishawaka will win it unless someone with a few less people get a lot of pins.
  19. Marcus Schontube gets my vote, it added to the feat that he was a huge guy in general.
  20. Typo on my part when I was alphabetizing and putting in brackets. It's fixed.
  21. I don't see how you think that there is a maximum number of times 2 semi-states could match up. On average there is a 1/3 chance that any SS would match up against a particular other semi-state so if you look at that match up over a long enough time period all that means is that the average should come out to 4.67 times (14*1/3). In any given year there is a chance that FW SS could match up against Merillville SS in every weight class (all 14 of them). It is not very likely, but it is possible. Kind of like there is a chance of flipping a coin 14 times and getting all heads (except worse because this would be a 3-sided coin). I guess I could see your frustration though if it has happened like that 6 years in a row, but I have to believe that it will average out if you stick around long enough. Each semi-state should see two of the other SS's 5 times, and one 4 times. The past six years, for Fort Wayne it has been 6 times vs. Merrillville and 4 times vs. Evansvill and New Castle. The most times you should see a respective semi-state in the first round should be five times. The draw isn't so random if the same match-ups occur year after year. Also, if you want to look at it even further, the 189lb bracket at semi-state has been exactly the same the past four years. Who does this "random" draw? I'm originally from the Merrillville SS and it seems like we saw the same schools a lot first round, I would seriously question the "random" part of the draws.
  22. Definitely, and I'm very surprised at some of these. Merrillville had the least variety of teams and Fort Wayne had the most variety, I was surprised with that as well.
  23. There's a 189 who also is a good cross country runner, endurance and size.
