Coaches are to work their way up through the system- kids trips, duals trips, Fargo, international - the ISWA reserves the right to use the need of a coach to work them faster through the system. Once a coach is selected, some of the expectations of the position are as follows but not limited to: -once selected coaches are to attend all pertaining state finals events. -coaches must attend and help pertinent camps - this includes all coaching activities such as running practices, supervising sleeping quarters, and all things asked by the team leader -coaches will help recruit the trips -travel to and from the events working as a part of the staff with the entire team supervision and coaching processes -coaches will follow all expectations personal expectation set in the ISWA Coaches Code of Conduct (signed at each ISWA state finals event to receive wristband) *Post trip - Coaches will be evaluated post trip by the team leader and state coaches director, as well as a self eval to be turned in Who selects the trips? Coaches Selection Committee (State Coaches Council), chaired by the ISWA State Coach - selection committee is made up by the state coach, age group director(s), team leader director and the trips team leader, and a member of the executive committee. Once selected the committee submits the trip to the board for review and approval.

Been reading this thread a while now as its a topic I find very interesting, last night I was reading, a book, with pages, and words and stuff and it made me think. I really don't think that my response here will help either side of the arguement, however shed some light coming from a different angle Its hard for coaches when kids transfer away, no doubt, you put time into that kid and love them. You take it personal. I do too. But just as some kids are born with more talent, and resources. Some schools and coaches have more kids and resources. Some great coaches are at schools with less resources and never get to shine, some not so great coaches are at schools with major resources and shine. (and it works the other way too). But in the end we take it personal. ------------------------ anyway, lately been reading like crazy, and this was something I thought really helped me with transfers and such, as I think it describes me, and some of you, AND MANY KIDS, so bear with me Its from DAVID AND GOLIATH from John C. Maxwell - i copy and pasted a chapter summary off the internet. Caroline Sachs, an above-average high schooler, was trying to decide which college to attend, University of Maryland or Brown University. The challenge of picking which school she should go to was most difficult. The majority of students wouldn’t even think twice about it because attending the school with a better reputation would look better on a job application, right? No. The problem with the students who chose the better school is that they do not realize is they will be among other students who were valedictorians and 4.0 scholars, immediately making her a little fish in this big sea. By choosing this, Caroline becomes an average student, which was a completely new concept for her. In the end, the decision she made ended up causing her to drop her intended major because it was too difficult and pick up a new one. This major was less appealing to her, and was not her passion. Now don’t you wonder what would have happened if she would have chose to be a big fish in a little pond? So does she. -- it might not sound the way i wanted it to, but the point of the chapter was that it is best for some kids to have the opportunity to be varsity for YOU at at your school. I would have never coached football if i had not went to my hometowns school.......Yeah, my senior year I started on an 0-10 team - but i started and played. I never would have made varsity at another football school. What transponded from that is me coaching football to this day. It gave me a chance. Wrestling, same thing.... I was the only kid on the team that didnt make the finals my senior year at sectional - I got third. Think if I would have went to one of the schools that I lost to, I wouldn't have made varsity. I most likely wouldnt be coaching today. Now, I don't know what to say about the kids that leave a program, many of us have had that happen. . They are gone, and we all have trouble forgetting that. But what helps me is knowing what going to my high school made me, and what it makes me do today. When kids leave, that leaves an amazing opportunity for someone else to grow as it did me. It made me a bigger fish in a smaller pond (starter at jennings county) rather than a small fish in a big pond......example: if I would have tried to wrestle for mater dei, i may have got discouraged never making varsity, and not coach today. I've had kids lave, that the weight class was open to a kid that was academic all state when he got it. Great opportunity for that kid to become the big fish. It helps me anyway to find peace with it, and know I'm doing good, and that kids get good out of being the "big fish in a small pond" here. I was. And other kids will get to be. I do believe in loyalty, and staying with a school (been at Jeff 17 years now despite chances to leave); but once a kid leaves, do the best you can with what you got and create an awesome opportunity for the next kid to be "the big fish". Don't get so mad the kid left that you neglect the next kid or we WILL FALL LIKE GYMNASTICS. Keep your numbers up despite the transfers, its your job to. what a rant. I really just wanted people to know I can read.

THURSDAY - come to our last RTC before spring break! Angelo Crinzi, Lindenwood Belleville - 5:15-6:45 Coach Crinzi enters his second season as the Head Coach of the men’s and women’s wrestling programs at Lindenwood – Belleville.Crinzi started as a graduate assistant for two seasons at Lindenwood – Belleville. Crinzi coached one All – American men’s wrestler and a women’s wrestler that took fifth at the U.S. Open and qualified for the World Team Trials.Crinzi attended Grand View University, where he was a two time national qualifier. He also helped the team to three NAIA National Championships and three National Dual Championships. Crinzi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.Crinzi is a native of Tucson, Ariz. and a graduate of Sunnyside High School. While attending Sunnyside, Crinzi placed third at the state champions as a senior and helped the team win a state championship. He was also an Arizona freestyle and Greco wrestling state champion as an individual and a member of a team state dual championship.In high school Crinzi volunteered his time as an assistant wrestling coach for the several kids clubs including TUF wrestling academy out of Tucson, Ariz. and the wildcats kids club out of El Paso, Texas.

I do agree there...........your the kinda guy doing it RIGHT!!!

I don't like the idea of kids not making a lineup in elementary (which happens)..........we used to use the angle of "they cut in basketball, but everyone wrestles" now we have JV teams for elementary (which is fine), but we also have times that the elementary kid doesn't make the line up and goes a few weeks without wrestling ..... duals used to be faster, now we elementary super duals and duals tourneys (which starts the long days for parents at a younger age); "we" now even follow the baseball model that pushes kids to join "all-star" teams. Read a great article on how all-star baseball has contributed to the lack of "community" around america, and we followed. BACK IN THE DAY (man, I sound old enough to be Tonte or even Bob Harmon now), but elementary started after high school season and ended with Freestyle and Greco......then we said "lets add a month", then we said "if adding one month is good lets add 2" ......3...... now some places start in September and end in May......or even end at Folkstyle state cause "kids are burnt out" before Free and Greco start. I don't think kids dislike freestyle and greco, they are just tired by the time it starts and say no. As a head coach I used to be excited about Free/Greco starting to see all the little guys STARTING, now I am trying to figure out what bounce house or pizza party we are going to have so that they wanna come to freestyle practice. Even some coaches have tricked themselves into saying they don't like free or greco, or they say "ill never have an Olympian so why try", by that logic most coaches never have a state champ, so we should cut folkstyle practices out too. For me, by the time Free/Greco roll around I can't bear the thought of demo-ing another folkstyle move and LOVE showing "new stuff". Love showing clips of international matches - this not only sparks their wrestling knowledge but even their "worldly views." And anyone who says greco is useless must never have used handfighting or pummeling as a folkstyle drill. I truly believe with the youngers - LESS IS MORE. Its a funnel. Get out 200 elementary wrestlers (kids that call themselves wrestlers if even for a week clinic), 40-80 middle school, 50 high school - to have 10 seniors if your lucky. Good for those that can have 20 elementary guys on a duals team, and keep 10 seniors out. I don't know how they do it! But i'd love to learn. last two items What else can I rant on? Maybe the fact that Me and Y2 have agreed like 3x this week, that is more than the last 3 years. I feel I am on quite a roll!!!!!! yes, i went from elementary duals to talking Greco...........its my natural transition to most topics. I could do it if we started talking about what we eat for breakfast, I'd end with a greco talk.
