  1. Was the IHSAA ok with the banner? When I saw it, I thought it was a cool idea, but I wondered what the IHSAA thought of it. If they like it, everyone should do it.
  2. But why not random draw from the very beginning? Why do we have to random draw just for the finals? Start a tournament at 182 and progress through entire tournament that way
  3. Why don't we draw the starting weight of the tournament at the start of each tournament? We do it for duals. The brackets are already set, I don't see any issue in it. You just draw the weight class out before you start, and you roll from there. I have felt that this is unfair to 285s for quite some time.
  4. Jay County will be hosting a RTC on Mondays from 6:00-7:00 starting on Monday, March 3rd. Please enter Door 9 and meet upstairs in the wrestling room. Make sure that you have your ISWA Registration: http://www.iswa.com/register/ The cost is free unless we have a clinician. I will update here, on twitter (@JAY_Wrestling), and on Facebook (Jay County Patriot Wrestling), if we have plan to have clinicians or if we have cancellations. Send me a pm if you have any questions. Thanks!
  5. I understand that judging a team based on the previous year's body of work, is all that we have right now, but I think that it's not a great method. "Predicting" is what we need to get away from. Trying to "predict" an unpredictable sport, wrestled by kids at an unpredictable age is an impossible task. I think the majority of us at Bankers Life recognized this, on Friday and Saturday. I do commend the effort. I think that adding more teams will hopefully help, and an all in event is the answer. Once we eliminate the multipliers and voting I think we will really have something.
  6. Is there any way to post a run down of the number of underclassmen returning from the teams that clinched and are eligible, along with how they did in the in the IHSAA State Tournament Series?
  7. Yea, but the committee didn't choose Cass which, I think would have been right with both AC and Busco this year, and the system didn't allow Bellmont to be voted in, and I believe that they were every bit as good as North Montgomery. Hopefully, the expansion to 12 teams can help to eliminate these errors.
  8. Haha yes! I've had nose plugs washed several times.
  9. All personal attacks aside, it's great that the IHSWCA has put together a tournament since the team state was taken away. The travesty is that we are forced to have a system in which teams are "voted" in, in the first place, rather than actually competing with their given team during that current season for a TEAM state title.
  10. I think this is a great way (inviting more teams) to eliminate the margin of error of the current system.
  11. During the google hang out, the vice President of the IHSWCA mentioned that the State Duals is something the IHSWCA would like the IHSAA to adopt. I guess that is a misstatement? The reason I asked about the event growing to 12 teams, is that usually this was the type of decision that the IHSWCA has polled coaches about at the Sectional seed meeting. I thought maybe there had been an email poll that I had missed out on that asked the rest of the IHSWCA what their thoughts were on the issue.
  12. I guess the other question I have is, who is on this committee that voted the proposal down? Is this an IHSWCA committee? Did the committee consult with the rest of the IHSWCA constituency? If so when and how? Also, when did the IHSWCA decide to go to 12 teams? Who did the IHSWCA consult in going to 12 teams? I'm not saying that going to 12 teams is a bad thing, I'm just wondering when and how these decisions are being made.
  13. I understand that's how the committee voted but the committee also has stated that they want this tournament to evolve into something the IHSAA would adopt, and it doesn't resemble any system the IHSAA currently operates.
  14. I think that if we are to produce something that the IHSAA would later adopt we should just go with and equal amount of teams, per class, per semi state. It would give exposure to all three school sizes (classes) in all four areas and resemble something that the IHSAA would put together.
  15. I think that this shows that the gap in the multiplier is just far too wide......at least it is for 1A. Maybe we should have separate multipliers for each class and sectional. I know that I've heard several wrestlers and regular fans complaining that this process is just far far too simple and easy to understand.....let's add some more complexity to it.
  16. Exactly.......with those thick glasses he can't really see much. My beard pales in comparison to Coach Clark's. Maybe one day Play Wrestle can grow a similar beard.
  17. Great coverage and great quality, even though Genth says that HD doesn't do me any favors. Thanks for promoting the sport of wrestling!
  18. Hahaha...........if you find me an instance where a 1-20+losses guy beat a 25+wins-1 guy and I will become a believer
  19. But you didn't get that it's unrealistic? It must have been a budget inn disguised at a holiday inn.
  20. 1-29 with no losses to anyone else in the Sectional.........pretty much an impossible example
  21. Some of the rankings do make you scratch your head. I thought that the thread that included results from 1A was very beneficial for the voters (I know it's not hard to type in the names of schools in the results section, but it was nice to have it somewhat organized in a thread).........I'm assuming that some of the voters didn't look at said threads.
  22. I think giving teams the opportunity to wrestle multiple kids in a weight class is the answer, not "86" weight classes. Regardless, I agree, East Indiana's middle school wrestling schedule is troublesome due to the overlapping of the ISWA schedule. The benefit that I have noticed, for small schools, is that it gives the opportunity for kids to try both basketball and wrestling.
