I purchase items every year from them (mostly socks). Been to their showroom out in California twice and always leave with more than I should. Great guys to work with.

I agree with all the comments made about Coach Read. Always into every match with his athletes, wanting them to be victorious. A true competitor and an even better person. Every time we matched up against them at the Plymouth Invitational, I knew we were in for a fight. Thanks for posting this Jim and thank you Bob for all the years you have given to the sport and your athletes.

I have seen several wrestlers through the years wearing goggles to protect their eyes. Contact the IHSAA to see what they say. Robert may refer it to the officials to find out any rule implications.

The one thing I am trying to wrap my head around is having to pay $10 to bring an alternate to East Chicago and they get their money returned if they wrestle. Is this the same for all three other sites? These policies should be established and printed in the Winter Bulletin and be the same for all four. I know last year we showed up not expecting to pay for alternates and extra coaches and paid $60 at the gate. Hoping to hear from the other sites on this.

Thanks, Clint.
We have had inquiries from clubs from Portage, RWA, Penn, Rochester, a team from Illinois and some individuals from a freestyle camp I attended in Michigan last weekend. Give you kids a chance to improve their wrestling skills and have some fun. Last year we finished between 1-2pm so it didn't last all day. Trackwrestling will organize the bouts and we will get going ASAP. Weigh ins are Friday from 6-8pm and Saturday from 7-8am.

"Northern" wrestlers do not need to drive long distances to get their two tournaments in. South Bend this Saturday and Penn next Saturday should allow all the northern wrestlers to qualify for state and not have to spend the weekend driving hours to find a tournament. Harper and I have the blue shirts, excellent pairings people, and the facilities to get some good freestyle and greco wrestling done and be out the door in a decent time. The opportunity is there. Take advantage of the situation presented.

Thanks Tom for your response. How would you determine if someone is trying to injure by stepping on the foot and what would you call in that situation? I see a definite possibility of an ankle or knee being injured if the foot is not able to turn because of over 200 lbs. on top of it.

Gentlemen, yesterday we had a situation in the finals of the sectional tournament. One of the participants was intentionally stepping on the foot of the other participant to gain an advantage from the neutral position. Since this is not a wrestling move, could this situation be called unsportsmanlike conduct? To me it is similar to a forearm to the face, poking in the eyes, or raking across the face. The refs doing the match stated that the rule book doesn't state that it is illegal, but my point was that it is unsportsmanlike. Any insight?
