  1. Dig a little deeper into that rule book of yours. You will see that there is a rule that you do not stop the match when warning the top wrestler when the bottom wrestler is on his feet. You actually think this would have changed the outcome of the match. And when you say fresh restart you mean that your man made it to his feet, and you want him to go back down to the bottom position? That is why they actually changed the rule about 3-4 years ago because some felt like it was actually penalizing the bottom wrestler because he gets to his feet and then has to go back to referees position and give the "top" wrestler a re-start.
  2. That makes no sense at all. This is the state finals. What is your solution to haveing three undefeated wrestlers?
  3. "If any student has missed school today due to school closing and is prohibited from practice by school mandate, all wrestlers in that semi state are afforded one extra pound. If the same school misses tomorrow under the same conditions, all wrestlers are now granted two pounds additional weight allowance. The maximum weight for the 103 class then would be 107 and so forth." The way it looks from the second paragraph of the second revised letter Bobby Cox sent out if a student is out Wednesday due to weather and i prohibited from practice on Thursday one pound is afforded and if they were to miss today 2 pounds would be afforded. Why would he mention Thursday first giving a pound then follow up and say if they were out Friday there would be 2??
  4. wrassler you are out of your mind. For one you probably believe that the IHSAA called and postponed the Richmond regional right? Go ahead say it! Nope Mr Bolser the AD from Richmond tried to call the IHSAA to see what they wanted to do but no one answered their cell phones. So he stepped up and made the call without the IHSAA's approval. and good for him. Then it is Y2's doing on posting the Semi-State brackets not the IHSAA's or any one elses. I dont think there was anyone from the richmond regional that was asking ahead of time what the semi-state brackets looked like. There are no brackets posted on the IHSAA website. And I would be in favor of and applaud the IHSAA if they did a re-draw because of some one LEAKING semi-state bracket info. There is and always was a reason why the info was not given out till after the regionals were finished. So for you Wrassler to sit back and think if anyone other than the Richmond AD and Y2 made the actual decisions and then ask yourself why The Richmond AD would care if (hell we can go ahead and say it) Cody and Duck made it or not. Or if Y2 really cares if the Richmond Wrestlers can "pick and choose".
  5. i dont think the NC SS is right, I find it rather hard to believe that all richmonds 103's wrestle all Northmonts 103"s and all 112's wrestle Pendleton 112's and all 119's wrestle Perry's 119's and so on. Seems like at least one weight class would have some division among regionals with-in the class. Did anyone else notice this?
  6. ok, i checked the local radio stations website and the Richmond school website that have both been updated this AM and it did not say anything about postponement
  7. These are the guidelines posted in the IHSAA winter bulletin for seeding meetings: B. Suggested Procedures to Follow at the Sectional Seeding Meeting 1. Equipment and Supplies: Chalkboard, numbers and shaker bottle; suffi cient chairs and tables; suffi cient blank bracket sheets for each weight class and coach. Brackets will also be needed for classes in which all schools do not enter. 2. Have the head coach stand, introduce himself and his assistant and tell what school they represent. 3. Follow the conduct of tournament recommendations in the Offi cial Wrestling Rules?Rule 10. 4. Each coach is to prepare a complete individual record of his wrestlers to be seeded including opponents? names, schools and match scores. 5. Coaches should strive to keep open minds when seedings are being decided. The main objective of seeding is to have outstanding wrestlers separated in the brackets so that they will not meet each other until the fi nals. Seeding shall be based upon the wrestler's proven ability and not upon the desire for unwarranted advantage. 6. Consideration for determining seeded wrestlers is given in order of importance: a. Head to head competition; (The wrestler with the most head to head wins gets the seed. If they have beaten each other an equal number of times, then the winner of the last match gets the seed.); b. Record against common opponents; c. A returning champion or runner-up in the same weight class; d. A contestant with the best overall record (winning percentage) who has wrestled at least 10 matches; NOTE: A wrestler with less than ten matches may not be seeded ahead of a wrestler with at least ten matches and a winning record unless he/she meets criteria in a, b or c. A wrestler with a losing record may not be seeded unless he/she meets criteria a, b or c unless there are less than six (6) wrestlers in the bracket. 7. A seeded contestant shall have the same opportunity to draw for a bye as other I think they really overlooked number 5 and went on.
  8. A wrestler is only allowed to move up one weight class from what they are entered into on the sectional entry form.
  9. That is true, BUT according to the IHSAA and their interpretation of the 1.5% rule, anyone under 152 could not take advantage of the extra pound and still be able to make weight Saturday if they have advanced to the individual regional. you would really only have 3/7 of the 1.5% allowance.
  10. U people really kill me! What do you mean "Ducking" pretty broad statement without any proof, all freakin hearsay. OHHHH " I HEARD HE WAS 200 LBS" do you know that for a fact? NO. Was he , Maybe but we all know the difference from football weight and wrestling weight. He made 171 more than once and had no problem doing it. How bout giving the kid some credit that day in and day out he is weighin 174-175 lbs and wrestling 189. He went up to 189 to wrestle the likes of Sliga, and could have very easily made 171 for the Connersville Spartan Classic and actually i think he was below 180 anyway at the time. He did this do dodge who at 189 NO ONE! actually he went to 189 to wrestle Stevenson But where was Stevenson, not at the classic, (before you jump to much on that I do know he was hurt) but i guess i could take the lower road like everyone else and say "I HEARD STEVENSON WAS NOT REALLY HURT AND WAS DODGING DUCKWORTH". Man that is easy to say, is it true no,. I say you want Duck do the work come on down to 171 and get him. Ohhhh you can't now. So i guess we can also say " Why is everyone "ducking" Duckworth, if you people actually knew anthing of any value you would have know that he had made 171 before and you could have come down to get him. Otherwise get off his back!

  15. now that most everyone has seen some matches what are your thoughts now. Alot of bumping going on, anyone have ideas where everyone is going and ready to make some predictions?
  16. Only lost one starter from last year, and several quality freshman coming in that should make some noise.
  17. gotta be Union County, anyone disagree??
  18. Amen Mommamac. I can tellyou one thing from first hand experience. watching one of those boys down there getting ready to wrestle for a state championship the last thing on my mind was why wasnt he wearing our school colors. I do agree for some that is what they have worn for the previous 48 matches and if we are telling them that this is one more match then they need to treat it that way. I know what school they are from. they know what school they are from. and i am sure now standing on top of the podium saturday night there are a couple thousand people out there who know what school they are from.
  19. Coaches, I ask anyone anywhere to copy/paste/ refer all of us to the rule that states that a wrestler can only loose 1.5% per week. The ONLY thing we have to go on is some BS decision that Bobby Cox ruled on on a kid from Mishawaka. And because they can not even understand or realize the need for wrestlbacks at the Semi-State level clearly leads me to believe they do not understand wrestling let alone interpret rules of the sport. You may find information in the IHSAA.org website click on wrestling and you will find a 16 page packet describing the weight loss and skin conditions. I am sure all coaches reading this I am boring but this needs to be better understood. After body fat and hydration test have been done and plugged into the national system there is a form given back for each individual wrestler letting coaches/parents/wrestlers know what their alpha weight is. and THEN and ONLY THEN is a 1.5% AVERAGE given for the wrestler to meet their alpha weight. The wrester can not weigh in below their projected weight of the weight loss program for that given week AND have it be a qualifying weigh in for the state series. So as long as he/she makes their six qualifying weigh ins and one scratch weight and one qualifying weigh in in the month of January AND they do not wrestle in MORE than one weight class above there certified weight. they are good to go no matter whatthey weigh the week prior to sectional. I will make three more small points then wait for all the replies telling me how far off base i am. 1. The 16 page packet i reference above actually says and AVERAGE of 1.5% per week not 1.5 % per week. So i am assuming Duck made 171 at the classic and 173 at NEW PAL, 173 at North Central, 173 for Centerville and Winchester that is over a period of 5 weeks. if he weighed in at 180 lbs for the tec that is 7 lbs over 173 7 lbs devided by a 5 week average check me on my math please 7/173 = 4.0462 % / 5 weeks = .8092.% wich is less than your 1.5% average. 2. Lets assume everyone but me is correct on this. i have a 103 lb wrestler who now is allowed a the 2 lb allowance. and his team wins sectional and moves on to team regional where the state gives him an additional pound and he uses that lb he is given and weighs 106.0. do you realize what everyone is saying with the 1.5 % he is not eligible for individual regonal because he would not be alble to loose 1.5% of the 106 wgt. over three days ( 106 X1.5%= 1.56lbs devided by 3 days = .22 per day allowed) so by Saturday the lowest he could be is 105.34. UHHHHHHHHHHHHH anyone see a problem here? 3. and last but not least the wrestler would STILL be able wrestle for all those out there that would like to see certain individuals not be able to participate. the penalty is on the coach and he would not be able to coach at the next event. ok im done
  20. coach Peck. So as i understand it the wrestler will arrive at the tournament, find the place to check-in and present his/her usa card. Then will wait until they are called to the mat and weigh in at that time. Will each mat have a scale or will this be done at a staging area? Also will this not mean that the heavier weights will have to wait a longer time 2-3 hours after the tournament has already started to weigh in? I like the idea of declared weights, track wrestling can already have all brackets made and why can the wrestler not weigh in at the time they present their USA card and be either verified of proper weight or scratched. Seems like all wrestlers could be weighed in between 7:30 and 9:00 am with wrestling beginning at 9:30 or so. MY point is the 75 lb wrestlers would have weighed in matside first thing in the morning but the heavier weights will have to hold out to weigh in longer. Hopefully not past lunch time.
