  1. Yeah. I was very impressed considering he had to eat a full breakfast and drink a gallon of water just to be able to make weight.
  2. Didn't Mishawaka lose about the same as Crown Point ? The Cavemen lost 3 studs from 130-140 , add in 152,171 and 189 and the losses are about the same . Having Stahl will help alot , but they still have holes to fill . Both teams do have about the same number of holes to fill, but the difference is Mishawaka has a better feeder program and coaching than Cp.
  3. I Think 171 is wide open then. I still think Tanner Lynde has it this year. My opinion is that your biggest improvement is made between your freshmen and sophmore year, and i think he is gonna surprise people. He looked very solid last year. Also, Im a fan of his style. Beck is a great wrestler and he is in an ideal situation being in Mishawaka's room. Which i believe is one of, if not the hardest working rooms in the state, but i just don't seeing him beating Phillips. I like Gregory because he is from Penn and I believe that program is becoming a force to be reckoned with here in a relatively short time and also Harper is a great coach. How hard he worked in the off season will directly result in if he can have a chance at beating Hawkins and Nelson; however, those are some very talented guys, and i think Hawkins has to be the favorite at this point.
  4. 103: Kyle Ayersman (Lake Central) 112: Cody Phillips (Union County) 119: Anthony Hawkins (Crown Point) 125: Brandon Wright (Warren Central) 130: Jason Tsirtsis (Crown Point) 135: Brock Norton (FW Carroll) 140: Frankie Porras (Hobart) 145: Tanner Lynde (Delphi) 152: Ryan Stahl (Mishawaka) 160: Sean McMurray (Portage) 171: Braden Atwood (Delphi) 189: Aaron Stevenson (Indian Creek) 215: Nathan Cleveland (Lowell) 285: James Travis (Merrillville)
  5. Who will get in Frankie Porras' way? Maybe Tsirtsis? Roach? any ideas?
  6. Its of my opinion that if you want to find the best coaches in the state, and that is the coaches that are helping build the greatest high school wrestlers in the state, you have to look no further than all the coaches involved with CIA. Whether it be in Indianapolis or Da Region these guys are getting things done.
  7. I agree with Macdaddy we need an extra weight class, and I think they should get rid of 285 completely. That way we could add two weight classes in between 112 and 171 where the talent is overwhelming the best.
  8. Are they broadcasting this anywhere online?
  9. If I would have won saturday, I would have not only shaked the other wrestler's hand, the other wrestler's coaches hands, and my coach's hands but also any score girl's hands and the official's hand, not to mention the side official, the good people scoring at the table, and anyone who happened to be video taping. I also woulda shook the hand of the coaches of all the different schools present, any ex-coaches who might have been in attendance, perhaps an AD or two, and I would have made a personal note to find the nice man that did introductions and shake his hand. After i had finished with all of that I would have made my way to shaking the hands of all the parents of competing wrestlers (not only of those in the finals but also those who didn't make it to the finals). With that out of the way i would feel safely that i had not offended anyone and could now make my way to the podium.
  10. I've wrestled both Tsirtsis and Porras, and I'm gonna go with porras not in a dominating fashion but definately controlling the whole match. The way he leads with his head and blocks with his hands is unrivaled. Jason might be more technically sound but Frankie has learned how to control a match in highschool. He completely shuts down his opponents offense with his foward pressure and relentless pursuit of a single leg takedown.
  11. Y2 ran to the computer as quick as a flash. and logged onto the site to put in his last stat.
  12. Chris Almarez qualifier last year didn't make it this year.
  13. Really? Dorris over Richey. I'm not sure but didn't Reinholt major Dorris, and i think Dillon tech falled him. That really would be an upset if Dorris beat Richey.
  14. But it all comes down to who has the best combination of shoes and head gear that determines who wins the big match. Example: Kyle Ayersman- everything matches all the time, whether he is at practice or at a meet he always matches to the T. Thats why he wins. ;D
  15. In a hypothetical situation say i weigh 156 in the off season and i decide to cut the four pounds and wrestle 152, chances are that the majority of the time when i wrestle my toughest competition in the finals of a tournament my opponent will weigh above 160. while i will most likely be 154 tops. That puts me at an automatic disadvantage in the finals. Not good. So if i were to make the eleven pound cut to 145 i would be much better off. I'm not saying you must cut tons of weight but you need to find a balance that feels right for you. Wrestling your natural weight isn't the smartest choice, if your main goal is to win that is.
  16. Y2, I think any individual who pick'ems end up being perfectly correct (1st-8th) at 119 deserves an indianamat shirt.
  17. I Absolutely hate cutting weight. As soon as you get every kid in the nation to stop, I'll glady stop cutting weight also.
