  1. It came to my attention tonight that Crown Point has 4 sets of brothers starting on it's varsity. They are: Josh Fuqua 120lbs Jake Fuqua 152 lbs, Morgan Kral 182 lbs- Tyler Kral -220lbs, 113lbs Darden Schurg- 160 lbs Dusty Schurg; and the Burlison twins- Trevor 126lbs and Tyler 138lbs. Kinda rare to have that many sets of brothers at one time on the starting lineup. Any other teams have this many or more?

  3. It would be appreciated if when posting updates on freshman's records thus far that you would also post what school they are from. Thank you
  4. Jason did get back points and he didn't come close to being taken down.
  5. Floyd Central is usually at the Traicoff on next weekend.
  6. I thought I had already posted this addition to a prior post, but it doesn't show so I am doing it again. When I stated earlier that Libertyville dropped out of Stagg after CP won, I didn't mean after they won in 1987. It was after they started this current streak of championships. Homewood Flossmoor was also a school that used to participate, among others.
  7. Crown Point has been going to Stagg at least 25 years. Coach Vlink graduated from Libertyville, which is where the connection comes from I believe. CP won it in 1987 and hadn't won it again until this last string of 6. Libertyville dropped out after CP won if my memory serves me right. The decision to go there in the first place besides the connection was for better competition. They still do have quite a few state placers and qualifiers there but apparently the teams aren't as deep a they used to be.
  8. This makes 6 years in a row. I'm sorry Mr. Barnett. I should have said Tyler Kral, not Tyler Schurg. Anyone that knows the Schurg family knows that all of their boys (50f them, all have first names starting with "D". If you still not too old to get down on your knees to watch for back points or a pin I'll be sure to criticize you as well.lol. It was a long day and I wanted to get it posted to the board and send it to the Times and Tribune. I noticed the article I wrote did get put in the times, with a few of their modifications. I sent it to the Times with a copy to the Post, but apparently they don't work as late at the Post. Hope to see you along the wrestling circles (sitting in the stands).
  9. CP had 8 wrestlers in the finals and all 8 won. CP had 277.5 points and the second place team, which was Andrew, had 124 points. The winners were: 106-Ervin, `113 Darden Schurg, 120 Josh Fuqua, !26 Trevor Burllison, 132 Cameron Halsted, 145 Jason Tsirtsis(*named Outstanding Wrestler), 160 Dusty Schurg and 220 Tyler Schurg. #rd place finishers were: 152 Jake Fuqua, 170 Jacob Hazi, 182 Morgan Kral, 4th 285 Josh Swope and 5th 138 Tyler Burlison.
  10. Tsirtsis beat Langenderfer 13 to 3. l of the 3 points was an actual escape not a letup.
  11. Final CP 62 LaPorte 6 106 Brett Ervin CP pin Zach Wells :56 113: Darden Schurg CP pin Trey Griffin :29 120 Josh Fuqua CP pin Ray Floyd :47 126 Trevor Burlison CP pin Spencer Stringham 1:36 132 Cameron Halsted CP TF Cameron Pranckus 17-0 3:59 138 Tyler Burlison CP dec Justin Mazany 8-3 145 Jason Tsirtsis CP pin Caleb Pear 1:55 152 Zach Robbins Laporte dec Jacob Voss 4-2 OT 160 Dusty Schurg CP pin Kye Stachowski :57 170 Jacob Hazi CP dec Mike Eldridge 3-2 182 Morgasn Kral CP pin Ben Standifer 3:39 195 Matt Langbehn CP dec Caleb Stewart 13-8 220 Tyler Kral CP pinLandon Blackburn 4:24 285 Cody Mullican Laporte dec Josh Swope 3-2
  12. Not that it makes any difference but CP beat Dekalb 42 to 12 and beat Eastside 80 to 0.
  13. I have heard a rumor that Colton Saroff, the 112lber from CP that had his way with Goebel from Mater Dei at team state last Feb. won't be wrestling.
  14. You will find out how good Dekalb is on Nov 19th when they meet up with Crown Point at the Warsaw duals.
  15. terryopiniated: I might have been misinformed about where the official was from, but you have been misinformed about my name. My name is not Steiner. And to the rest of you MD fans making rediculous remarks on here. Put the shoe on the other foot and you would still be crying about the call. And to the person that said "questionable call", I never said it was questionable call. I said it was a blatantly terrible call and most of the peoplethat posted to this thread that have no dogs in race agree with me. Where did all the Mater Dei fans go when they lost. I stayed around and watched some outstanding wrestling, or maybe you are not wrestling fans, just Mater Dei fans.
  16. terryopiniated: My bad, I was told he was from the South. He officiated like he was a Mater Dei Alimni though. I was sitting in the 4th row from the mat and saw Fuqua twice signal for an injury timeout, which both officials apparently didn't see, so instead cautioned him for stalling. When they saw what the problem was with the headwrap for a previous injury they should have negated the stalling call. And the stalling call with 2 seconds left should have been called a stalemate. The official was seen to look up at the clock and notice that there was only a few seconds left, so he felt he better hit the wrestler from the North with stalling so the match could go into overtime. I don't knowwhat team you were rooting for, but if that had happened to your team, I'm sure it would have left a bitter taste in your mouth, as it has mine.It would help if you would use a little knowledge to go with your opinion, as your user name says. Nickster90: Could be that Schroeder that was stalling the whole 3rd period. He knew he wasn't going to get anything with the top position he had to end regulation. He just rocked back and forth to make the official think he was trying to do something. Your 15th wrestler (Mater Dei fans) did it again. Intiminated an official to make a call that is keeping me from getting any sleep at night. It is going to take a while to forget it. Check the posts, most observers agree it was a horrible call.
  17. It was nice to see all the Mater Dei fans there, but as I had said in a post a couple weeks ago they always seem to intimidate an officials call, which of course they did when the official, who happens to be from the South made the most blatantly terrible stalling call I have ever seen in my close to 50 years watching wrestling. Without this call CP wins the dual and in my humble opinion goes on to win state. Congratulations to LN for moving on to thte finals and to Perry Meredian. See you all next year.
  18. Crown Point returns 10 plus a stud freshman that won middle school state.
  19. Y2: You said you had my pick-ems via E-mail since I couldn't get the whole program. I tallied mine up and I had 808. My name isn't shone on your list.
  20. I don't know if I'm just missing it but I can't find any results of either contest. I know it my be a little early to get the results of the state but am I just missing the results of the semi-states or haven't they been posted yet?
  21. This is to correct my laat post. Mater Dei did have one champ at semi-state. I missed their heavy weight's win. Sorry, my bad.
  22. Rankings Guy: You say Merrillville will get 4 state champions, yet in your all picker, you only picked 3. My personal opinion is that Evansville had the toughest semi-state. Mater Dei has one of the 3 toughest teams in the state, if not the toughest and they only have 5 going to state and none of them were champions.
  23. DelphiHvyt: Thanks for the input, but I still have the same problem. Had no problem with the semi-state pick-ems.
  24. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Is anyone else having the same problem I am? My pick-em only scrolls down to the 2nd place pick at 215 lbs. After that it shows: Comments (0) Diggit! Facebook
  25. Tweener: How can you say that Burlison was outclassed by Garcia. This was the 2nd match in a row that Garci has beaten Burlison 5-3. I woulodn't say that was being outclassed. That match could have gone either way, although Garcia is certainly the more experienced wrestler.
