  1. Is it for sure that Davis is going 126? Last year he wrestled 120 most of the year and then went down to 113 at tournament time.
  2. Bidfarewell: Fuqua was leading 3 to 1 when he injury defaulted. I'm not sure he was injured, although he kept holding his groin area. I just think he just isn't in shape yet after surgery had delayed the start of his season til last Saturday. CP hadn't practiced all week because of the school being closed. It wouldn't have made any difference in the final score of the meet, but Fuqua might have been in better shape to go the full 6 minutes. I thought Denton Schurg gave Rentas a good match losing 14 to 8 with 3 the points coming from locked hands. He also had Rentas on his back right after the start of the match but Rentas's shoulders were just off the edge of the mat. I had expected to lose 6 points on that match. Denton is exciting to watch and I will miss watching him next year.
  3. Coach Vlink's wife called meand said the match will take place at 6:30 at Merrillville.
  4. I see CP having a chance to win 7 weights, but Merrillville winning because of many more bonus points.
  5. Crown Point has Zack Donaldson @ 132LBS and Morgan Kral @ 195 lbs

  7. No, I didn't know it was Portage's 2nd team. Individual names were not disclosed in the papers. Glad to hearthe Duneland isn't that weak. Thought Portage was suppose to have a decent team. Thanks for the info.
  8. Franklin should meet up with Cathederal at theTraicoff this weekend. Not sure if Cathederal has full team yet because of their football success. Westfield must be pretty tough though since they destroyed Noblesville and Noblesville beat Portage on criteria. Cathederal would have to beat Westfield in 2nd round.
  9. This is a late reply on the McClurg-Hollins match. I said to "not count your chickens yet . Well Hollins lost Fri. night 7 to 5 and Hollins was a 4th place finisher at Merrillville. I would go on further to say that hade any other 2 officials worked the McClurg -McCloskey match the result would have been different. McCloskey got scre------d out of 2 takedowns that should have been called and I have never seen worse sportsmanship shown than what McClurg exhibited after his victory. I hope his head injury didn't turn into a concussion though. See you next year. Have a good summer
  10. Don't count your chickens yet. Merrillville semi-state was stacked at 160. Hollins isn't a pushover.
  11. The call was changed because the officials said Fuquas knees were out of bounds. His feet were in bounds, which was acknowledged, which makes this a bad call Also Denton was warned early for stalling and should have been called for it later. Good match though, would like to see a rematch at state.
  12. Sinkovics at 106 will give Red all he wants. He has length and strength, totally dominant at Merr. semi-state. I noticed Hudkins from Danville won at 106 in Evansville. Must be pretty good, but DJ Smith had the toughest way to the finals having to beat Ferguson and Kennedy. Have seen Kennedy and Smith and Hudkins beating Smith in OT, I would now pick Sinkovics to come out on top.
  13. Y2: I can't find my results for the match against Mater Dei. I know we won 145 by Blueand Schurg beat Weinzaphel at 152, so we had to put in a jv at 160. I also believe Schurg won have gotten pinnedby Sims at 160 and I have gone over it time after time and it made no difference that Roach didn't get to wrestle. The difference came at 135 on the Fuqua match. I had the and studied them many timesbut can't find them now. I'm not sure what the score was at 145, but I don't think Roach would have even majored Weinzaphel, so again I say it made no difference,.
  14. As I stated earlier, it made no difference. Our 145lber won anyway and whoever wrestled 160 was going to lose. The call at 135lb cost us the dual and probably the state championship. By the way NJoe, how many state championships doyou have?.
  15. Region Royalty: Roach not being able to wrestle at 160 didn't make any difference because the kid that wrestled in Roach's weight class won. The thing that cost us that dual was an official that was intimidated by the Mater Dei fans and called Jake Fuqua for stalling with 2 seconds to go in his match when in actuality it was the Mater Dei kid who was stalling just rocking back and forth with Fuqua's arm extended over his head. At worst, a stalemate should have been called. If you want to match wits with Vlink ontherules, I will try to arrange it.
  16. I was told about this 120 lbs by another CP fan. Believe me, Vlink knows and follows the rules as much as any coach in the state of Indiana.
  17. He lost the weight by Saturday, but it must've weakened him
  18. Sorry Karl, didn't have my glasses on.
  19. My error, you are right. He should finish 3rd then. I'll take Trent and Sinkovics in the finals then. Trent won't be a pushover.
  20. Akers had weighed 120 during regional week. Might have had something to do with his loss to Schwartz. Garza shoulod probably finish 2nd this Saturday so he will wrestle a 3rd place finisher next week. If it is from the Evansville semi-state I'll bet a hot dog at Bankers Life on the Evansville semi-state wrestler. As someone posted above, Trent from NP did look very impressive last week.
  21. Stevens 103: I was not telling you how to predict, I was only commenting on one of your predictions. I don't predict because not all schools have someone post their meet with individual results during tnhe year, as I do for Crown Point. Therefore I might find myself in a situation where I would possibly make an improbable prediction as some people have done. Like Cosgrove has posted,I will give you five dollars if Escobedo wins his weight class and you would only have to give me a dollar if he doesn't.
  22. Sportsfangms: No I won't be predicting more than 5 kids from CP advancing. 4 I think are better than 60% sure, but the 5th is a little less than 50%. Stevns 103: Other people comment on other people's picks without seeing the opponents of their prediction wrestle. I have seen the individuals wrestle that I commented on, so I'm not commenting on picks that that I don't have any knowledge of the abilities of the wrestlers.
  23. No way in --- could Garza win the Evansville semi-state. I've seen Kennedy from FC wrestle 113 and he was dominant and now he is 106 and I've seen Smith from Franklin, who teched Akers. Akers lost 11-7 (almost had a lst period pin) and lost 5 to 1 to Garza. Those Southern boys are too strong for Garza. I haven't seen Sinkovics but he certainly must've improved from last year since Garza pinned him at semi-state.
  24. Headlock 83: Last year Kral lost 3 to 1 to Winkle at semi-state, and Winkle went on to place 3rd at state, winning his 3rd-4th place match 12 to 4, so I don't think Kral was so bad as a freshman, and yes he has improved a lot.
  25. Stevens 103: You apparently didn't go to the CP regional. Your picking Escobedo to beat Schurg is doubtful. Escobedo lost 13 to 6 to the kid from KV and then Schurg beating the KV kid 17 to 1. I realize it's all about matchups but I don't see the upset you are predicting happening. Escobedo is built pretty good, but he also has has a tough lst match against Ferdig.
