  1. I think the thing I was most impressed with was his analysis of the schedule. I have noticed this a lot with Bellmont's crowd lately. There are very few "diehards" that are willing to sit through 8 hours of wrestling. I love the weeknight dual.
  2. Haha, she went to Bellmont. Her mom was from Jay County, her other grandparents owned All-American homes at one point. She asked me to go to a swim meet once on the Friday night of state. That ended that.
  3. I dated a girl in high school whose grandpa organized that show, it actually was pretty cool. You would think they could strap some snow plows on those things and get 27 and 67 opened up.
  4. I think it's 3-0 Mahlan. Smith is very underrated though.
  5. I'm pretty sure he'd try to veto his own resignation. The guy has no clue.
  6. Not too step on anyone's toes, but I think Jay County has really limited resources as far as snow plows. They are also the only school in the county, which means kids have a long ways to travel. We have the same problem in Huntington County.
  7. Great interview. This is the reason that this website is way above the rest.
  8. I love that we are still arguing about who was better in 2002, Bellmont or Perry Meridian, I feel like every year I get into an argument with someone about this, and it was 10 years ago. This just shows you how much fun the state tournament is and the excitement that it creates.
  9. Ya, in some cases I agree. I do worry however when you see it happen again after the match.
  10. Looking through that again, that is 8 matches for Yorktown. I think it would be hard to argue that Yorktown can't win 7 matches on Mishawaka.
  11. After seeing how ridiculous Yorktown's lineup is, I wanted to see where I thought they would fall against Mishawaka. Let me know what you think: 103-Bevans m.d. Martsolf 4-0 112-Beck p. Phillips 4-6 119-Anderson d. Binion 7-6 125-Bevans d. Wisler 10-6 130-Jackson d. Schrader 13-6 Did not think Jackson was this good until tonight. 135-Hiestand d. Guerra 16-6 140-Eddy m.d. Rench 20-6 145-Harper p. Marshall 26-6 152-Stahl p. Smith 26-12 160-White p. Higgins 26-18 171-Morin d. Castner 26-21 This one is definitely a toss-up 189-Brown m.d. Abu-Shehab 30-21 215-Lentz p. Neff 30-27 285-Thomas d. Janney 30-30 I have seen both of these teams multiple times and really believe that none of these picks are a stretch. Yorktown is the only team left in the state that has a shot at Mishawaka. (Of course, they have to get there first)
  12. Castner was unconscious but Dulaney came over and lifted him off of the mat before anyone really figured out what happened. It looked like he might have done it again in the bleachers and the AC trainers and a few other people went running to him in the hallway. I really wish this situation would have not had an effect on the team score, because I didn't think it made a whole lot of sense for him to continue wrestling. With it being such a close match, the coaches must have felt it was worth the risk. I guess I am also confused on the rules. I thought that a loss of consciousness meant that the match was over. Is this not true anymore? By no means am I saying that anyone did anything wrong, and I certainly would not have wanted to see Bellmont win on an injury default like that (I would rather stay home than win that way). I was just genuinely worried for the kid. I think he definitely had (has) a good shot at winning Regional. Great match tonight, Yorktown is the final barrier for Mishawaka. It should be a good state finals match.
  13. Bellmont beat the Peru All-Stars 81-0 in one of the biggest wastes of my $5 ever a few years back at Semi-state.
  14. Haha, wow, I think tonight's match is really getting to me. I guess when I saw three, I knew we had three, and even a chance of four. I've got Yorktown on the mind.
  15. Ya, it would definitely be possible. I think in the past they have been wrestled on Monday.
  16. The Jay County sectional has a very good shot at not only qualifying their top 3 at HWT, but also their Top 4. They did the same last year also (including having the State Champ). Ross Janney-Yorktown Daniel Meyer-Bellmont Jim West-South Adams Elijah Justice-Blackford
  17. Just browsing through indystar.com and weather.com and it looks like something major might be brewing for Friday into Saturday. It seems like they are pretty unsure of the path, but the Indy Star is reporting it to likely be the largest snowfall of the year. Sounds like it may make Saturday real interesting.
  18. Not knocking it, my last bet was a case of Hamm's, which I won.
  19. I didn't know they sold Hamm's Special Light in six packs.
  20. Haha, I know. But what fun would it be if we couldn't even identify a way to win. Gotta have hope........ I would say that a Meyer win over Janney would substitute for Faurote over Hiestand also...
  21. Yep, I was 10 years old and it still hurts, 31-30 at Bellmont. From what I can remember, it was the loudest dual meet I ever remember attending. That was at Team Semi-state in 1997. Now there is no semi-state. Only Regionals now.
  22. Bellmont needs to beat Hiestand and Rench if they want to win this match, I don't think they gain anything by most likely giving up 6 points to Hiestand. If you went straight up 135 Hiestand-3 140 Busse-3 145 Harper-6 or bumped 135 Hiestand-6 140 Faurote-3 145 Harper-6
  23. zachpierson, Obviously all of these arguments are being based off of information given to us and the hypotheticals to follow. I highly doubt that anyone would have the same opinion if an injury actually occurred. I am not sure anyone really cares about the coach and wrestler specifically anymore, it has become more of a debate about the situation in general. I am way too excited about Regionals tomorrow, so I am out of here. I guess we are all raised differently, but my wife, parents, and probably even my 89 year old grandpa would be ashamed of me if I were to take the same action in the same situation if there were no injury present. Maybe that makes us bad people or uncompetitive, but I definitely wouldn't want to be on the other side.
  24. There are 300 other kids at 119 that would have gladly taken his sectional championship.
