  1. Double B (6 years old) definition of Freestyle to Single B (8 years old) - "It's where you can hurt the kid and not get in trouble", strangely enough, that's why he likes it. But definitely working on changing that perception on the local level. I'm thinking of offering fight shorts or some type of reward to every kid in my club that qualifies and participates in Folk/Freestyle/Greco next year.
  2. First I am not a single sport supportist, but I think Y2 pointed out at one time that double digit state champs from this year or last were one sport guys. Most of the parents only care about winning a state title, so they will see that and jump all over it to use it as ammo.
  3. Congrats, keep those Indiana boys heading to Cumberland!
  4. I think all but #4 is already being done to some extent? Minutes are sent to clubs I believe, it would be time consuming at first, but certainly possible to expand that to members. The annual meeting is always in September, I do like the idea of sending out possible rule changes etc in advance. Let's hold an ISWA state convention, make it 2-3 days in the fall, have everyting under one roof, elections, socials, rule interpretaion meetings, socials tournament bids, socials, etc. socials.
  5. Yes AJ Folksytle and the rise of Folkstyle is killing Freestyle. When I was out in Iowa, the general consensus, outside of the 2 qualifier blowback was that 5-6 weeks was too short to completely alter a training style.
  6. I'm not sure if any of these were brought up as I've been off INdianamat all weekend and my eyes started bleeding and had to stop reading but: 1) Cut off Folkstyle state at Schoolboys 2) shorten Folkstyle season or start it earlier, move Elem duals to before Christmas break, start Folk season Jan 1, have state the weekend after HS state. 3) extend Freestyle season, I know it would mean it went past central regionals, so what. Have state memorial day weekend or the week before. Wow we posted those ideas at the same time
  7. I'm 100% speaking w heart, I said I'm "that guy" this year
  8. East over L.N. and L.N. over Carmel, it's the closest I could come. Look I know ppl take dumps on people when they argue about this every year. I'm just being "that guy" this year. Madison got left out in the cold 2-3 years ago and I wasn't this upset. The rich get richer and the next tier guys get told tough luck. Coop has built the program from literally nothing, and what's he get? "Nice try buddy, but you're not on the level of the big shots." It goes against every reason this tournament was started.
  9. Al Smith Team Scores 1. Penn 226.0 2. Portage 191.0 3. Columbus East 150.0 4. Lawrence North 149.0 5. Bellmont 146.0 6. Merrillville 136.0 7. Lowell 134.0 8. Prairie Heights 132.0 9. Chesterton 129.0 10. Ft. Wayne Carroll 121.5 11. Jimtown 117.0 12. Garrett 114.0 13. South Bend Riley 104.5 14. Elkhart Memorial 103.5 15. Center Grove 98.5 16. Hobart 87.5 17. Lawrence Central 86.5 18. Lake Central 81.0 19. Danville 77.5 19. South Bend Adams 77.5
  10. Nice, I like it. This would be comparable to Indiana Blue getting in and Gorillas being left out. Blue gets in b/c of name, not because of their accolades, when everybody saw Gorillas beat Blue. Hope that helps. Once again thanks for helping my gripe out, should be the best of the best
  11. economic engine, region.....hahahahahahahaa Yes we aren't comparable in size to other parts which is why when we have a team, like East, they get shunned. Thanks for supporting my gripe session.
  12. If East has same statistics and they are geographically located in Da' Region, or Southwest, or Indy, or #theCounty then they are in. This is a travesty of epic proportions.
  13. #NoRespect #CoopSquad #Outlaws #SouthHate #PopularityContest
  14. Oh......now you are onto something....
  15. I'm gonna host "The Madison National Freestyle State Qualifying Championships" Should bring in all the studs w/ "National Championship" attached to it. If you win, then you are a National Freestyle State Qualfier
  16. Hey man I commend you for reaching out for opinions. That's solid, I hope others read this and it helps them also.
  17. Joe send in 150 and get a qualifier. I agree, hats off to the Indy guys for going outside the box and getting kids matches and a chance to qualify for Freestyle State.
  18. I was just responding to whoever was using "getting mat time" as an argument. I don't even know who it was. Go get mat time and support local clubs and the ISWA.
  19. They can go to Local Freestyle tournaments. National Duals should be the best of the best.
  20. It was an awesome trip, thanks to Jason Miller for everything and thanks to the ISWA for giving me an oppotrunity to help out.
  21. States traveled from all over to Iowa this past weekend for Elem and MS duals. Why don't they want to come to the crossroads of America?
  22. I agree w Coop and Martin and Nick and Joe, is that possible? OH and I do blame Fabio, but I blame him for a lot of things so it's nothing new.
