The decision on the weight classes is on the agenda. The decision will be difficult. Many people say they would like to see changes made in the weight classes. However, when you start trying to actually come up with 14 weights (we agreed in principle to keep the number of weight classes the same) that everyone can agree upon is nearly impossible. I WOULD like to hear from the members of the IndianaMat community what your thoughts are on the four proposals (keeping the current weights is an option in addition to the three proposals). I am sure there are numerous schools larger than Garrett, or an "average" size school, that do not have coaches lining up to coach there. You speak as if all big schools have all the resources that a Mishawaka or Penn has...

really..once again the sarcasm comes through.... I never said Mishawaka has the same number of athletes as Garrett. That is assanine. Why is it always Mishawaka and Garrett. I have never mentioned Mishawaka and I have never compared the two. Funny thing about your sarcastic response is that you defeated 6 schools, I believe that is what was stated earlier by you, that have a population over 900. So where is the cutoff to when your athletes arent better than the other schools? 1,200 students? 1,500 students? What does it say about those larger schools when they cant compete against the small schools like Garrett?

looked at that data and I am confused... looks like it was over 55,000 the last year of single class..... the previous 25 years it never dipped below 32,000

why do we assume that a larger number of males in the school means a larger number of "athletes" in the school. just because your school has 100 more males, that does not mean they have 100 more athletes to choose from. you will probably have a few more, but number of athletes and number of males are two different categories.

My issue with the class argument is that of more exposure. If more exposure then more kids will get the opportunity to wrestle in the lower divisions at college. I looked at the rosters of some of the DII and DIII schools in Indiana to compare the number of Indiana wrestlers on their rostrer and the number of Indiana basketball players on their roster. Before gathering this data my hypothesis was that there would be a greater number/percentage of basketball players on the teams because class sports brings more exposure. Wabash 85 % of bball roster from IN 70% of wrestling roster from IN Mancester 83% bball roster from IN 80% wrestling roster from IN Trine 33% bball roster from IN 61% wrestling roster from IN University of Indianapolis 67% bball roster from IN 79% wrestling roster from IN Purdue (I was just curious) 76% bball roster from IN 52 % wrestlers on roster from IN I know walk ons will skew this data, and I am not sure how much, however I did think I would see a higher disparity in the percentage of IN athletes on the rosters. This doesnt prove anything because like I said, the data will be skewed because I do not have all the information, however I will repeat that I thought the percentages would still have a greater disparity.

It will be interesting to see how the new weight classes impact these young wrestlers. Good list....

we have a big problem in Indiana with simply turning in results to the local paper or posting them on the states wrestling website.
