  1. Let's not take this out of context. First of all, that is not at all what the Franklin wrestler said to the official. Yes, he made some inappropriate comments and cost himself a disqualification penalty, but let's not embelish the scenario and make it worse than it was. Coach Chris Lynch and two assistants were matside and handled the entire situation promptly and professionally, and coach Bob Hasseman later aplogized for his wrestler's comments, and the young man also apologized directly to the official. Additionally, perhaps two Franklin wrestlers did indeed throw their headgear, and one other was penalized for unnecessary roughness with a knee, but there were several other wrestlers on the day that also threw their headgear and/or were penalized for various things... this was not something that was isolated to Franklin wrestlers. These are young men in a tough sport, and sometimes they make mistakes. Having been around wrestling for over 30 years I have had numerous opportunities to interact with Coach Hasseman, coach Lynch and Franklin wrestling, and they wrestle hard, aggressive, and by the rules. Like any other school they may have an incident in which a young man loses his cool, but you can rest assured that it will be handled appropriately by the coaching staff. My kids could wrestle for Franklin Community any time, and I'd be proud to have them there.
  2. Great info, great list, great analysis, and great discussion.... I love this kind of statistical analysis!
  3. Gray shirts indeed, as provided by the tournament hosts Next year I'm told that they will be blue, which is much more stylish!
  4. He doesn't look a day over 60 Maybe turning 70, though, is the reason that he no longer yells at me as much as he use to.....
  5. Lew Wallace will indeed be there, although I don't know if they are taking the place of another team.
  6. Your actual Pool placement is dependent on how you do in the first two rounds. Kind of works like this... If you win your first two rounds, you will go to Pool A and wrestle for 1st-4th place If you win your first round but lose your second round, you will go to Pool B and wrestle for 5th-8th place If you lose your first round and win your second round you will go to Pool C and wrestle for 9th-12th place If you lose your first two rounds you will go to Pool D and wrestle for 13th-16th place. In each Pool you will wrestle the other three teams, thus each team will wrestle a total of 5 duals on the day. There are tie-breaking criteria in each pool, as more than one team could end up with an identical record. Additionally, it would be possible for a team in Pool A to lose all three pool matches and end up 2-3 on the day, but still in 4th place and ahead of a team in pool B that may have won all three pool matches and ended up 4-1 on the day. Make sense? (I know how it works... just not sure if I conveyed it correctly) Over the years Calumet Head Coach Jim Wadkins has experimented with several different formats, but this is the one that he has used for the past several years. Seems to work

  10. After speaking with the other Board Moderators, and fielding several complaints from other posters who feel they may be receiving inaccurate information to their questions, we have determined it necessary to apply a few guidelines in regards to posting replies on this section of the Board. 1. Since this section is titled Ask The Official we would ask that responses to posts be answered by officials, and not by coaches, fans, wrestlers, or other interested parties. 2. Officials who posts responses on this section of the Board will be asked to identify themselves by their actual name, and not by their Board user name. 3. Officials who post responses about specific rules will be asked to cite the rule number and page number where the reference can be located in the NFHS rule book. 4. Questions regarding IHSAA By-Laws cannot be answered, and questions regarding those topics will be referred to the IHSAA for an appropriate response. 5. Any posts not abiding by the above listed guidelines will be deleted by the Board moderators. We are certainly not inferring that rules and their applications in regards to situations cannot be answered by someone other than a licensed official, however, there have been several incidents in which a question was answered inaccurately, or at least partially inaccurately, by those with good intentions, but perhaps the wrong information. Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
  11. I believe that Indiana Creek is there, and Evansville Memorial is not. Both Memorial and Princeton are going to Westfield this year.
