  1. Baker upset? I wouldn't consider it that when he lost to the same guy twice.
  2. Unforgivable for a person of your stature.
  3. You make it sound like -18 is bad or something... <------------------

A feat? Yes. An accomplishment? Most definitely. History? No. History, to me, is when it's not been done before (or at least in a generation). Harper isn't going to do anything this year that hasn't been done before. This isn't taking anything away from what Harper has or is going to accomplish, because that's not what I'm doing. I wish I could've done just a quarter of what Harper has already done. But it's not history in the making.

History? It's been done like 5 or 6 times right?
  6. I'll just sum up the 3rd period for you. Cashe's up 2-0 and Harper chooses top. Harper rides and tries to turn while Cashe keeps a strong base. Then, inexplicably, the ref hits Cashe for 2 stalls with about 30-40 seconds left for doing, virtually, the same thing that he was doing the first 1:30 of the period. This is the single reason why I hate mat/riding position. It's not necessarily the wrestling part, it's just at what point is the bottom and/or top guy stalling? At least in the neutral position, it's a lot more clearer in my opinion.
  7. Well I wouldn't say that Harper was stalling. I think it was just a greatly contested bout between 2 state champions. There was just one move that decided the match. Cashe was just slightly better, but nonetheless, the better wrestler. My comment wasn't about whether or not Cashe was stalling. But that it's funny that refs, generally speaking, seem to always throw in that late stall call to make the match closer and appease the fans.
  8. I think it's the ref's way of appeasing the fans without directly affecting the outcome. I think if Cashe was just up 1 going into that final 30 seconds, the ref wouldn't of called stalling. But ya never know!!!
  9. Yeah, Cashe was about to turn Harper a couple times but both times lost the leg. Wish I was there to see the fan reaction to that flurry.
  10. I like how a ref always throws in that late stalling call. You think he would of made that call if Cashe was up just 1 and not 2?

It actually wouldn't hurt as much as some people on here would lead you to believe, since a lot of schools can't even field the weight class. But with that being said, I'm firmly against adding a weight class between 215 and 285. The big guys are brutal enough to watch, we don't need more of those types of matches. Plus, I don't think there are enough 240 lbers out there to justify implementing a weight class in that vicinity.
  12. Well it's a good thing that the matches are decided on the mat then, and not by voters.
  13. What about the Escobedo's? I'm pretty sure they're all not siblings but still... Mike, Angel, Jose got 7 state titles between them. That's all I really know about these guys.
  14. I'll agree that it shows an individual's ability to break down an opponent, but disagree with it showing more skills than neutral abilities. Seriously, to be a pretty good rider all you need is a spiral ride and/or throwing in the legs. I've watched a few of Mark Perry's matches and he relies heavily on just throwing in legs from what I've seen. As for you comment for "just doing a few different setups and takedowns." How many different setups and takedowns does a state caliber wrestler need? A few, insinuating three, tells me that's plenty for a skillfull wrestler.
  15. There wrestled over the same 2 days from what I've seen. So Connersville isn't technically being wrestled this weekend. Although Christmas break makes it feel like it's a weekend.
  16. Mishawaka? Well 2nd best then, forgot about them. Still doesn't change the argument though.
  17. actually mintons other lose was to my brother dustin pierson from perry meridian but it was at 152 after that lose Minton dropped down to 145 Stand corrected.
  18. Connesrville should have the best wrestling quality in the state as far as this weekend goes. So the question really is are you better served to go to a Super Six dual or 8-team dual tournmanet or staying at Connersville? I think it really depends on the state of your program. If you got alot of youth on your squad, you maybe better off trying to get as many guaranteed matches as you can. What I mean by youth isn't necessarily young or underclassmen, but experienced or seasoned. What real good does it do for a team when most are double-dipping? You should always look to challenge your team. But for alot teams, Connersville is "biting off more than what they can chew."
  19. How about Robert Rosbottom vs. Steve Minton in '99. Minton had like 8 losses and Rosbottom accounted for all but one of these losses I think, the other was to Dan Jankowski. They battled all the way from sectionals to the finals at state. The only blemish on Rosbottom's record that year was to Minton at regionals. This loss allowed for the big Rosbottom-Jankowski showdown in the semi-state ticket round. This is what made this series memorable for me.
  20. With this logic, it would be fair to say that by just riding an opponent for a whole period shows no improvement on working on your feet right?
  21. Instituting the worst rule in college, at the high school level? I'm not much for encouraging glorified stalling. The goal should be to turn not to ride when you're on top. The only time I have a problem with cutting an opponent is when the guy is obviously far inferior. But when a guy is capable of putting up a fight, then I don't have an issue with cutting. However, I think the better wrestler should try to work turns eventually, not just rely on cutting. With that being said, if you've been riding a guy for 1+ minute without being able to turn. Maybe making it a takedown fest would be the best strategy.
  22. Nah, I just see... Cool Points: -15
  23. Is there a way to at least show the number of total cool points accrued? You don't necessarily have split them up into wahoos and boos. I think I had over 50 total cool points. Always fun to keep track of them in that way too.
  24. Yeah, I guess I have to suck up to the 103 lbers now to even things up.
  25. You like it when 2 guys are down on the mat eh? ;D I'M JUST KIDDING!!! Mind straight in the gutter.
