Mishawaka beat Plymouth 47-30

Probably not top 25, but Kale Shotts definitely surprised some people last weekend.  Yes, he's my son, but I'm not above throwing his name out there.  He's only been wrestling since 6th grade, but has worked his butt off.  Impressed with the level of wrestling from all the competitors.  
 
Also, a huge shout out to the Mishawaka coaches!  When they found out Kale's coaches couldn't make it, they took him under their wing and coached him like one of their own.  I can't say enough good things about those two guys, definitely a class act move on their part.

Action begins tomorrow March 1st!

Our first RTC of the 2023 off-season was hot out of the gates. Over 50 total in wrestlers and coaches. We were joined by 10 state qualifiers, 4 of those were placers, and 1 state champion. Coach Zack Johansen brought a great group all the way from Hobart, Midwest RTC’s Chris Fleeger was in the house with the young New Prairie studs, Jimtown’s SQ’s, Crown Point’s Orlando Cruz, Elkhart hammers, Wawasee SQ Salazar, Marian and head coach Wes LaFluer, & SB Riley all represented tonight. Our goal is to keep building this room one week at a time to benefit northern Indiana and southern Michigan wrestlers 💪🏼

Another great RTC tonight at Mishawaka. We had 55-60 wrestlers today and at least 10 coaches making the room better. This RTC has really grown over the years with plenty of hammers around every weight. If you didn’t reach your goals in February and want to improve this off-season, our room is the place to be! 🔥
 
Stay tuned- we may switch to Thursday just for next week due to our banquet. 

So again, you are fine with small school programs dying out such as we have seen recently with Blue River Valley, Oldenburg Academy, Wood Memorial, amongst others? 
 
The purpose of high school athletics goes way beyond winning and losing and the more kids that participate in athletics is good for society overall. If more kids specialize at small schools then that hurts ALL sports in the community and jeopardizes the school even sponsoring team sports. 
 
Families should not need to uproot their life for mediocre success in high school athletics.

CG can thank ref 12 for that win! His stalling call in utb was the 3rd time he did it and the time before it was called stalemate. 

Cannot believe the ref in McConnel-Chavez called a stalemate instead of a stalling. Just to call a stalling on the restart. That should have been the second instance and a point for Chavez.

Kudos to our Mishawaka Trainer Hannah Hess who traveled to EC to support the Cavemen wrestlers and spent all day as a volunteer working the event and helping everyone's wrestlers.  Saw her at the end of the day and she looked more exhausted than our boys that competed.  Great job Hannah...way to represent.

A few around here that, despite not having the numbers of a big school, have kids in the mix nearly every year are Chris Fleeger, Steve Sandefer, and Jerimiah Maggart. Very impressed with how much they get out of kids. 

If we are talking true team rivalries, then it’s Penn and Mishawaka. Whether it’s at the palace or in the cave and/or the new gym, the crowd is electric and it’s a packed house every dual. 
 
Brownsburg and CP is clearly the rivalry of recent history when competing for state titles.

Fort Wayne has hosted Team State. Might as well host individual State!! Premier venue for all fans and wrestlers.
