  1. This past weekend I attended the ISWA event at Warren Central. I wasn't gonna do a review, but I had more than a few denizens of the Indiana wrestling scene ask me to do one. So, here I am. First, I'm not sure if these are the hot dogs that Warren usually sells, or if these are from an ISWA contracted vendor. Anyways, at first glance, the hot dog did not look appealing. It looked plucked right out of the movie "Nothing but Trouble" that starred Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, and the late, great John Candy(who pulled double duty). I was ready to put buying this hot dog into my worst decisions of my life category, which includes getting married, accepting the Clockwork Orange therapy to avoid a curfew ticket, and eating a hot dog from Hanover Central. Fortunately, it wasn't that bad. It wasn't good, but, it was at least two steps above Alpo. 3 slices of pizza outta 8 Next weekend I'm going to Iowa, and on St Patrick's day, I'll be at Mooresville highschool. Hopefully the luck o' Irish will strike and the hot dog gods will gift me another outstanding experience at the home of the Pioneers. Thank you for reading.
  2. My senior year in high school I cut from 225 to 189. I was s beast the first few weeks until the weight cut hit me, then I was super weak. It was the next year Illinois implemented the 215 weight class. I had an all state heavyweight on my team, so if I wanted to wrestle, I needed to cut. This year, CJ didn't cut or watch his during the off season. He started the season around 165. It wasn't hard for him to get to 150. Looking at the 165 guys, Chris was really small to compete at that class. You can tell the difference when he wrestled Mavros of Lowell.
  3. I almost took a slice off because of the price as well. Ford Center has the second best hot dog of the season behind Mooresville.
  4. I stopped putting it in my reviews, but every review was done on a plain hot dog.
  5. I would love to see how the security at East Chicago would handle a state tournament, considering their temperament at Semi State.
  6. So, I sit here at 4:40 am CST and I'm dead tired, but I can't sleep. I've already made the drive back to NWI, so that drive from hell is behind me. The hot dogs. Pretty damn good. The concession stand I used to buy my dogs made them to order, so, they were fresh. They grilled them on something, they had a nice char, nice buns even without yoga pants, a good overall product. Just one small gripe. They were expensive. $7 a pop for these bad boys. Oh well. 7 slices of pizza outta 8. Kinda a side note, I mentioned this in a reply, but I was told Hanover Central are looking into changing their hot dogs because of my review. One day my friends, we will have the hot dogs we deserve at all wrestling meets across the great state of Indiana! And, as always, thank you for reading.
  7. No one was badgering any kids on the Doster/Walker thread. I'm not gonna comment on the actual call that started the topic, but I will say that it is not very good logic to say "if you don't like the call, you suit up". Bad calls happen, that's a fact of life. And people should be able to criticize bad calls. On an adjacent topic, I personally don't like the "don't be in a position to let the ref dictate the match". By it's very nature, the ref dictates matches and games. NFL teams actually game plan for different referees because each crew calls games differently. Just like different refs call matches differently.
  8. Thank you so much. If only that Krejsa kid didn't get lucky in their quarterfinals match, CJ could've won it all. I kid of course. CJ said Krejsa was the only kid that got faster as the match went on. Edit. I'm really proud of CJ because he fought through adversity at the beginning of the year. We lost my dad in late October, and he was a massive supporter of CJs wrestling career. He never missed any my son's matches.
  9. In my case, I watched my kid wrestle in the 5th place match and didn't stay for the championship matches because of the five hour drive. I didn't want to be getting home at 3 in the morning nor did I want to stay another night. I enjoyed everything except the location. And I do understand that this was the best option available, I'm not complaining about the event being in Evansville.
  10. Why do I feel like you should have added "in the snow, uphill, both ways, in the blistering heat"? All in fun.
  11. Munster Chris Bohn is pronounced Bone. It's pronounced Bon in Kentucky, but, Evansville is just north of that part of our clan.
  12. So, I went back again and watched my son's match in the ECC 150 final just now. At time stamp 7:42, my son's knee was pulled up high by Harper. At 7:44, my son secures the takedown, at 7:45 potentially dangerous is called. Sorry, don't say my sons safety is priority if you let what you considered a dangerous situation continue for three seconds. What makes it worse is you can see the ref actually see the takedown and then turn his eyes to my son's knee. What makes it doubly worse is two referees ***duck duck goose***ed that up. I understand if this post needs to be removed. I can't post the screenshot because I have too many photos and don't know how to remove them.
  13. The hot dogs in the main stand are cooked on the quality 7/11 rollers. Those were the dogs I ate at Sectionals. The ones in the upstairs stand were in a steamer. Those were the ones tested this past Saturday. It was the same hot dog, just different preparation methods.
  14. My only complaint is the quality 7/11 rollers I saw in the concession stand was too small. There were a few times I went to get a hot dog and they didn't have any ready. Supply could not meet demand.
  15. Would have loved this for the 150 lb ECC final. I did not like the call in opening seconds of overtime. I thought watching the video would change my mind a bit, but, it actually makes the potentially dangerous call even more egregious.
  16. Mooresville by far. The only two ratings I can remember off the top of my head are Mooresville and Hanover Central at the Lake County tournament. For completely different reasons. I did hear that my hot dog review of Hanover maybe stirring up change, we shall see.
  17. Man, what a difference two weeks make. No, I'm not talking about the hot dogs, I'm talking about security. At Sectionals, the EC security are pretty friendly and accommodating, come semi state, it's as if they are the last line of defense before all of humanity falls. I was careful not to look at security at all, less they decide to handcuff and taser me(in my opinion handcuffs and tasers only belong in the bedroom). I will say this, since I'm typing this review three days after the event, they obviously saved civilization. So, good job? Oh yeah, the hot dogs. Still not good, and still disappointing since they were amazing the three years previous. I guess they had to cut the hot dog budget to keep our asses from slipping back into the dark ages. 3.5 slices of pizza outta 8. Next week I drive my happy ass to Evansville and the Ford center. 5 hour drive (I think I can make it in 4.25) and I'm a Chevy guy. At least Evansville in is the correct time zone. Thank you for reading. Quick edit, Thank you Joe for the t shirt. The material and fit are top notch. The shirt gets 8 slices of pizza outta 8, and I will be wearing it this weekend.
  18. I know it was mentioned once, but the 144 lb EC final was a treat to watch. You see the 4-2 score and think it might've been a boring affair, but nothing could be further from the truth.
  19. My son was disappointed when he found out Major was out for the Mooresville tournament, as CJ wanted to test himself. Hopefully he's fully recovered by next season to make a run at a state title.
  20. I wasn't really arguing with you or anyone per se, just more giving my opinion on the topic.
  21. It's kind of the natural evolution of things. I remember when I was a kid wrestling, there weren't really any year long programs around. Maybe a summer camp you had to drive a few hours away for 3 or 4 days, but not really dedicated youth programs. It's not like I don't see the negatives to it, but, if it's already happening, what's the point in hiding it.
  22. Honestly, I think kids can go where they and their parents think will suit them best. If they want to uproot their family and move into a district, then more power to them. Also, I think it's bullshit that kids can't transfer freely. They wouldn't want to transfer if they felt that their best interests lie with staying with the same program. I get it, if these were the rules, the top schools in the state would have to work double to get kids, but..... like I've said, I truly believe people should be able to make what choice they feel will provide the best future for themselves. There's a reason my family chose Munster and we moved CJ and his ketchup on hotdog loving mother into the district, and, believe it or not, it wasn't because they are a wrestling powerhouse.
