  1. Joe raised the question in a different thread, so I thought I would make it a topic and go first. Between club fees, clinics, entry fees, travel and gear; I would estimate I spend around $7k a year for wrestling. I would guess that tournaments attended are the biggest variable in dollars spent as they bring the additional costs of hotels, fuel, childcare, meals, etc. We have never attended some of the major tournaments that are more than 6-8 hours away and we don't spend much on shoes, but I will admit we will spend the extra $15-30/night for a hotel room after a few rough nights trying to save a dollar!
  2. Since some recent threads won't die, thought I would start a new one. Who are some of the best to never get past sectional weekend?

  6. To be clear, I also am unaware of whatever may have been said between yourself and Mr. Oberlin, that is between the two of you. I would like to meet Andy at some point also, I think we have crossed paths recently but we have never met. I appreciate Andy's effort to increase the training and success of the NE Indiana area and I hope it continues to improve.
  7. As a casual observer with no skin in the game, I appreciate your contributions to the site. My son is too young to be included in the high school thread, but I enjoy reading and learning about those that have had an impact on the sport and you are often the first person to mention someone from the area around the FW Semi State that I may have never heard of. Some posts could be taken as coarse, but I usually take them as someone that is passionate about the sport and the area you are familiar with. Keep being passionate and standing up for the wrestlers or the areas that may be underrepresented, your contributions are what make this site worth visiting on a regular basis. I look forward to meeting you in person sometime.
  8. Not entering the NLC into the conversation for the best conference, but if I added correctly: 14 Qualifiers and 7 Placers. With the conference split between EC and FW, looks like 4 placers went through EC and 3 from FW.
  9. I think you could also add Dallas Rosenbarger to the list. Lost a close quarterfinal match 8-6 to Dowty at 95# then went on to finish 3rd.
  10. Staples went 6-2 at Preseason Nationals this past weekend and placed 5th. I would also add Lincoln Hinchman. Good kid that finds a way to win wherever he goes.
  11. Just curious, how many conferences around the state are split and the schools then attend different sectionals that feed into different semi-state locations? For example, in the NLC, half the schools go to East Chicago and half go to Ft. Wayne.
  12. Any thoughts on the Goshen Regional? Any individuals that make an impact at Semi State or State?
  13. It is strange that a school would actively recruit wrestlers from out of state and then deny or protest another wrestler wanting to leave their program. Let the kids wrestle.
