  1. I wonder if there is a push for classing girls swimming?
  2. Nowhere did I say I am for or against class wrestling. Simply pointing out that some of the best football players in this state's recent history have come from small schools.
  3. Mr. Football was from a 2A school. Jack Kiser was a 1A player, Jaylon Smith was 2A. The position award winner for QB this year was 2A.
  4. the free year due to covid really skewed things. It should normalize again
  5. Craig Macke - 4,2,2,3 Freshman - lost to Gerardo Quiroz (runner up) and Thaddeus Douglas (2x fargo AA in Greco) in the 3rd place match Sophomore - lost to Aaron Clark (1,5,4) and is Franklin Community's all time wins leader. Macke beat him a week later at team state. Pinned Nick Hartman in the first period. Hartman would be a state champ the next season Jr - lost to Angel in the finals, beat Nick May (2,3,6) in the semis Sr - lost to Angel in the semis. Also lost a close match to Dustin Schlatter in a dual with St. Paris Graham
  6. I see your reading comprehension continues to be lacking, but I should have expected that. I did not exonerate him. I stated that I know him and he is a straight arrow. Again, cheating is a strong word. Unless you have evidence, which you clearly don't, then it would be best to probably not say anything.
  7. I went back and rewatched this match. Right before your screen shot, the ref clearly hold up 2 for red and then 1 for green. I believe he was indicating to the table that the correct score was 2-1 for red. I don't think he was signaling that points were awarded for that scramble.
  8. 2. I mentioned nothing about leg control. I'm talking about the situation where I get a takedown, and decide to cut the opponent. I stand up, push down their head and and then break contact. So I'm standing and the opponent is still on hands and knees. If I immediately drop back on top, there are no points given. The escape wouldn't be awarded until the bottom man either squares up or comes up off his knees. 5. Do you know for a fact that the people working the table are MD people? They could have easily been from another Evansville school that happened to cheer for the locals. I don't know as I wasn't in attendance that day.
  9. In the last 30 years, show me the dominance in football (2 state titles in school history and they have owned the sectional since Southridge got bumped up to 3A), volleyball (been to state once and that was in 1985), soccer (girls 3-peated from '17-'19 and have been average since, boys have never been dominant). MD has been "dominant" in one sport. Wrestling. The other sports that have won titles are few and far between. I guess all the tuition assistance money is going straight to the wrestling team and none of the other sports.
  10. How many times have we seen a kid get a takedown and he decides to cut his opponent by pushing his head down and then briefly removing his hands to break contact. The escape isn't immediately given if the opponent stays on his hands and knees. Even if it is technically a "loss of control". The escape typically isn't awarded until the bottom man squares up or comes up off his hands and knees. I see this as similar If the top man in my scenario breaks contact and then immediately drops back on top, there was no escape given and no TD awarded.
  11. It is not an interesting assertion. It is a fact. Hunter May is the only kid on the team that did not grow up in the feeder system. An occasional transfer happens (May, Critchfield, Hayhurst), but that is more recent. Going back to those dominant teams from the 90's-00's, they were all kids that came up through the MD feeder system. Yes, MD is a small Catholic institution. But no scholarships are offered. Students that are not from a west side parish pay nearly 50% more in tuition than a student from a west side parish.
  12. I'm not so sure it can be done without academies in this day and age. I wonder how the evansville area would do if MCWC wasn't around. Would guys like Kemper and Farmer have been in the finals if they only trained with their teammates during the season? Not likely.
  13. I want to say that MD was in the 12-15 range that year, but I could be wrong
  14. That Graham team was ridiculous, with the Schlatter brothers leading the way. Pretty sure they were a top 5 team in the country at the time of the dual.
  15. There is a significant gap between the top 3 and the rest in an individual format. In a dual format the gap is less. CG beat MD 28-24 at team state but blew them away at individual state. A few of those matches could have gone either way
  16. Cheated is a strong word. it implies intent. I know the ref in question and he is right down the middle kind of guy that does not favor one kid over another. Mistakes happen, and that is unfortunate. But nobody was cheated out of anything
  17. The OVC tournament has been at the Ford Center for 5 or 6 years now. I think that's what is being referred to. But it is usually the first weekend in March, so it wouldn't be a conflict. A UE home game might be.
  18. MD's dominance was rooted in their feeder program. From the 70's up through the early 2000's there was not a better model in the state. Kids would start wrestling in Kindergarten and there was/is the huge family/tradition aspect that kept that going. Every feeder school would field a full team and the coaches were dads that were MD wrestlers. Now it has been surpassed by the academy model. Kids are specializing and wrestling 365 days per year now and that has made a huge difference. Those academy kids start matriculating to the same schools and before you know it you've got a powerhouse school that has a ton of resources.
  19. Nobody came at you. I just disagreed with your opinion. Take care
  20. Like I said, this isn't that serious. I reply to many people's posts. That's kind of the point of this board, right? Try to relax and have some fun.
  21. . He had a very good post high school career at Purdue. Just giving you my opinion. Put your big boy pants on and try to understand that others have a different opinion than you. If you want to put him in the conversation, fine. He's just not on my list. It's not that serious, man.
  22. No question about it. But when it comes to most impressive freshmen campaigns you have to start with those that went undefeated. Maybe it's splitting hairs, but somebody that was undefeated should get the nod
  23. I remember him getting DQ'd for stalling. I thought it was a legit DQ. I think if you get DQ'd for stalling you are eliminated from the discussion.
