  1. So neither are the quality of top Ohio wrestlers and would finish maybe top 8 in Division 1 or 2 if lucky? Maybe Ocampo is #1 after winning prestigious Al Smith? Maybe it's Bollinger or Rioux? Maybe it'll be an Illinois kid that transfers over to a Region team just before the tournament? That's my point, you are rambling about non IHSAA tournaments to determine rankings. Rankings do not mean squat. So I'll ramble nonsense about Ohio wrestling vs Indiana wrestling that doesn't mean squat.
  2. You & others over a #1 ranking in Indiana. I'm told Ohio sports are more competitive than Indiana, especially football & wrestling. If either are #1, then they'd have wins over Graham and St Ed's kids per Ohio folks.
  3. I'm serious, as I don't track individuals records, did either 2 that you were arguing beat an St Ed's or Graham kid? Need to know if I should call an Yappi folks out!
  4. Either kid beat a St Ed's or Graham kid? What I read on Yappi, is that determines who is a true #1.
  5. Basketball & baseball could definitely go 6 classes to make it smoother with 67 or so teams in each class. Be curious how many wrestling squads can fill at least 8 weight classes and go from there. It'd be cool to have 6 classes for an individual tournament as long as we'd keep the single class individual tournament at the end of the year. Wishful thinking there though!
  6. Will they go to 5 classes in the future? Mirror how football used to be before creating 6A? It would be nice if the other sports went to 5 classes as well.
  7. True, but the timing of the ACAC duals and NE 8 duals suck for teams with competitive football teams. Be nice to do right before the individual conference tournaments. Wondering if it's more to do with Seth & Denny's availability as well as others. Doesn't help when my employer in Adams County stopped doing ads in all newspapers/webcasts and WZBD. I know Seth would stop in and he hasn't since my boss didn't renew.
  8. Is this going to be purely Track/Flo as well? Another event The Berne Witness would be able to cover 1A & 2A on 3 separate channels for all 3 Adams County schools.
  9. The issue is a modified 2 session event. The 2 sessions should just be one each day. Hate the splitting by weight classes. Unnecessary is the only way to describe it.
  10. Dear IHSAA, Screw the split session from Covid! If you want to continue to buck tradition, then fine start Friday morning with a parade of champions at 9am and wrestle all weights in one session with a change. Wrestle backs for the 8 first round losers with a chance to get back to 3rd. The second session can determine who will wrestle in the semi finals Saturday morning and who has been eliminated from medaling. No long break between sessions on Friday. This will be a full 2 day event just like the other sports instead of the fake "2 day" that's more 1.5 days.
  11. At least Indiana labels it as semi state in all sports. In Ohio, they call making the semifinals as State in all sports. Drives me bonkers!
  12. No surprise the IHSAA screwed something else up. Just like the OHSAA as well. NFHS doing a stand up job.
  13. The Berne Witness should do all of the IHSAA rounds as well as state football.
  14. Seth has learned a lot about the sport. Not aware of them working TW during state though.
  15. It's all to do with school size. FW SS has more small schools than large. Those kids participate in their schools' fall & spring sports. Basically leaves them with Summer & in season during the winter. It is what it is at this point.
  16. Have always said that we should have 4 tournaments and expand the season one month. Other winter sports get to participate in March and Ohio wrestles in March as well. Have a classed individual tournament in mid to late January towards the weekend (Thur/Sat) while having a classed team dual tournament during the week (Mon/Wed/Fri) that's similar to the football tournament but only includes teams filling 8 weights. Then after those tournaments begin the single class team duals during the week and then the single class individual tournament like now but wrestle backs throughout.
  17. Tell me why wrestling isn't truly classified as 2 sports in one? The individual aspect is much different than the team aspect in duals. Much different than XC or tennis to compare. The bumping & shifting of the lineup truly sets it apart. Why I'll die on the hill & continue to beat the dead horse that the IHSAA allows it to be it's own tournament not affecting the scheduling points. That tournament would be all in and classed. Only stipulation would be having to fill 8 spots of the 14 for a match. It's time to get it done! No one has a legitimate gripe that way!
  18. I know in my argument, no blame is on the IHSWCA and what you guys do. My argument blames the IHSAA and how they handle things for wrestling. I also blame them on the GID with my common alias about the handling of the football postseason and not having some sort of seeding for it and other sports tournaments. They are not exempt as I am critical of the OHSAA on Yappi as well and how they do things. Just part of the frustration as a state liner in Adams & Van Wert counties not far from Mercer County line with family in Allen & Paulding counties as well.
  19. Everyone basically making my argument for me. It's time the IHSAA allows this to be an all in tournament like football, basketball, and etc AND it doesn't count towards the regular season dual tournament points for scheduling. Should have 2T meaning 2 state sactioned tournaments. The first being the single class individual tournament and the other the classed team dual tournament. I can see making a rule that a team has to have 8 weights filled to be able to compete.
  20. No reason not to if Carmel wins swimming all the time (no offense just an example).
  21. Team Dual wrestling shouldn't be part of the individual aspect of the sport. No reason you can't have classed team duals and single class individual tournaments ran by the IHSAA & IHSWCA doing them both together. Time to get with the future. No reason other sports tournaments aren't seede either. It's all been done before in other areas. Pure laziness.
