  1. Evansville

152 Connor Dean of Martinsville got the draw he was looking for, watch for a good ticket round match between him and Lehman from EMD.

170 Ethan Runyan injury defaulted out to 4th look for a good match against Owens of Pike Central and a 4 over 1, which sets up a match with Thomas Dull of THN who has lost the last 2 against hendrich, last time Runyan and Hendrich wrestled it was 5-1 Runyan. I may be a little biased here but go little brother!!!

The ARTESIANS brings 5 to Evansville possibly brings out 4.

  2. Academies are great, trust me I know. You get fantastic partners out of them I wrestled for CIA and me and all my drill partners won IHSAA state, but the only reason I wrestled in it is because my local club was non existent.... if you have a good or decent club, wrestle for them while they are holding practices you can always go to the Academies as well. I coach my high school and club now and the wrestlers who go else where don't even associate with our other kids, it harms them both in my opinion. If your club isn't at the level you want it to be, ask how you can help, parents are a huge part and influence to any good club... your son or daughter can still be a great wrestler by wrestling with thier respective club, as well as Academies.

  3. Whitaker Martinsville over Vanhorn Franklin 3-2 (fantastic well wrestled match by both)

Runyan Martinsville over Moore Franklin 6-5 (Most exciting match of the day Runyan down 2-0 to start the third cuts him and gets 3 takedowns in the 3rd to win)

Going to be a great tournament most weights will have 2 ranked kids in the finals.

  5. Alexander from Manual had an illegal guillotine missed by the refs. Ethan was winning 13-1 45 seconds into the first period and alexander around the throat choked him unconscience. Kid tried the same thing in the finals match.

Dull vs Hendrich great overtime match.

Hendrich vs Runyan good match. Ethan controlled and won with 2 solid takedowns.

  6. Conference last year, I'm standing next to the scale watching all my wrestlers weigh in. Our kid gets on the scale 151.2, the ref calls out the weight, we move on. 20 minutes later he comes to me and says our kid needs to weigh in again because he wrote down the wrong weight. Needless to say our kid was over weight and he did not let him wrestle.

  7. Thought this was interesting. I compared how far each team in the top 20 rankings went in football. I am not sure how many wrestlers are on each team or what they provide to each team, but the direct correlation between the two cant be ignored...... and its nothing we as wrestlers and coaches don't know.

Here are the top 20 teams that played in a IHSAA Football Regional Championship or further.....

Warren Central #1           Regional Championship  (Tristen Tonte #2, Jasion Brogan #5, Knox-Abbot #16)

Evansville Mater Dei #2   Regional Championship  (Kurtis Wilderman, Blake Jourdan #5, Mitch Lehman, Seth Orth )

Penn  #4                          State Championship  (Kobe Woods #1) Runner-up

Cathedral #6                    Regional Championship  (Ryan Guhl #8, Ben Stewart #4)

Avon  #8                           Semi State Championship  (Gunnar Larson #3, Lance Meyer)

New Palestine  #9            State Championship  Runner-up

    Bellmont  #10                   Regional Championship

    Delta  #13                        Regional Championship

Carmel #14                     Semi State Championship (Sam Hipple #5)

Merrilville  #15                 Regional Championship  (Shawn Streck #1)

    Lowell  #19                      Regional Championship

Monrovia #6 (1A)            State Chamionship  Won  (Garrison Lee #6, Dristen McCubbins, Riley McCubbins, Eli Stock, Ethan Stock many more)

Schools who are always tough or often in the rankings

Center Grove                  State Championship Won (Cory Heinrichs #9)

Castle                             Regional Championship  (Evan Dowell, Will Rolley, Clay McNutt, Carson Mohler, Brennan Norman, and Garrett Sprinkle)

Bloomington South         Regional Championship  (Chase Dixon)

I am probably missing some teams in this list but I thought I would share.  Please name any wrestlers that were on these teams to further the point.
