  1. I think the coaches that show up at Avon this weekend should get together and decide if Avon could host. Avon would do it, if it had time to prepare. Not sure Avon was asked? Ft. Wayne may have a nice place? But having this event in a far corner of the state is not right. Even if they have good hot dogs. If they can't get get a central big HS for next year, it should move to the Ford Center. That would make many coaches work very hard to get it centrally located.
  2. Avon went 3-1 last year and finished 5th, beating Carroll, Bloomington South and Franklin. Lost to Penn. with the Freshman coming into the program, Avon will be able to compete with everyone. The out going Senior class will be missed, can't lie about that. 6 four year letter winners are gone. Avon will be young and good for the up coming season.
  3. I agree. I think there were 121 -123 HS Dual Teams at Virginia Beach last year. May have more this year? This event only has 21......
  4. Very good team! Good luck to the Gorilla's!!!
  5. 2 4th's, Jaden Reynolds was wrestling for Red Cobra. Bailey McKivitz was 7th wrestling for Contenders. Andrew Frank got 6th. so I see at least 3 Champs, 4 runner ups, 1 3rd, 2 4th's, 1 6th, 1 7th and 3 8th's for Avon kids this weekend.
  6. Any updates on the Team Rosters yet?
  7. The Gorilla Gear is the BOMB!!!!!!
  8. I would like to see the teams as well Will there be a Gorilla Team?
  9. Our 2 wrestlers cut no weight at any time. They wrestle what they weigh. It has worked out great so far.
  10. Also neither Avon Middle School was aloud to have any 6th graders today. Avon would have competed for Championships in the first 3 weight classes as well. The Avon schools FF those weight classes.
  11. Avon North MS won the 16 Team Wayne Township Invite today. All results are on Track Wrestling. Avon South finished 3rd. Lynnhurst, a BD feeder finished 2nd and Yorktown was 4th. Avon North had 6 Champs. Avon South had 4 Champs. Yorktown also had 4 Champs. Avon North also had 2 runner-ups. I still think the Avon MS combined team would be hard to beat in a dual or tournament format. Coach McCormick at Yorktown could confirm or disagree with this. Either way, Avon would respect what he had to say, I am sure of that.
  12. Wrestle for a State Champion, not a class state watered down champ. This is still America. Try hard. Don't be the little league (any sport) guy that has to see all the kids get a trophy so no feelings get hurt. Indiana does not have a perfect system, but we all know it going in. Try hard, complain less. Everyone does have a chance.
  13. Avon FR will be fine. Larson won 31 matches as FR at 220. Lost 8. Never wrestled 1 FR, only wrestled 1 sophomore. It can be done.
  14. Proof that it works is having Larson 220 and Miranda 106 becoming first Avon State Qualifier's as Freshman. Larson placed this year as a sophomore, 5th. With all the 8th graders coming in, Avon has a chance to get their first ever Freshman place finisher.
  15. Jared Clark from South would be in the mix at 120. He weighs 123 right now and was a medal winner at state this year at 125.
