  1. Goldman and Simmons attach themselves to the Walsh and ride his train to save their jobs If Walsh continues through to a NCAA championship who gets the credit and how does it help their job security.
  2. Does anyone know if Malloy or Raley are wrestling this year , it would be a shame if they do not. Raley was projected as a NCAA qualifier lasted year and Malloy lost a close match as a redshirt at Midlands to the eventual champion
  3. From what I understand IU had a mass exit at 141-149'. Malloy ,Raley, Brent S, springer have al left the program. Schaefer is at Davenport and intel says Springer is back in Iowa with UNI. Not sure about Mally or Ethan but I am sure they will be somewhere
  4. Not sure the details but here is what was posted when they broke down their roster on AWP looks like he has left also. Key Additions: Following the mass exodus of nearly every 141 and 149 pounder from the roster, Indiana was left with few options at those weights. They'll be relying on blue-chip recruits
  5. Copied from another forum. Interesting how the IU people on here are question Purdue's hire saying it may fit there budget. Yet IU has 20 plus years of below average results and everyone is ok with it. If I am the Administration, I would say preform and we will build you a wrestling room. Was is just not three years ago Duane was preaching about the new all sports weightroom Here is the story as I see it, factual or not, here it is. Indiana University sports, aka Fred Glass has announced that the university has made a commitment to the wrestling program, The new building will be built next year on campus on the corner of Fee Ln. and east 17th street. It will be a state of the art facility for the team, and any recruits that take a visit. The stipulation here is that Duane needs to back up the whine of "we are at a disadvantage facility wise here in the Big 10" and start to produce results or put in his resignation. Now no doubt, Dwayne is correct now about I.U.'s wrestling building. But what about 20 years ago when all the Big had the left over space in the arena to practice and condition. That wasn't a legit excuse. So I wish coach well in his next year at Indiana. Hope the building propels him into the top half of the conference. If not there will be another coaches job opening in the conference. Would I have to wager my left nut vs. yours or could it be something else? Also if you lost would you remove said nut yourself and place it in a jar or would that be up to me? I have little interest in the latter but a left nut in a jar trophy would be a hell of a conversation piece. 6. Jeff all I will say, is good luck to your son if you really are from CA. You know what really happen with Zach. IU did forfeit that weight multiple times this year. The staff turnover, wrestler turnover speaks for itself Yankees, do rule
  7. Wow, it start with the coaches I wish you would have done your research. Tell me how the current staff has help wrestlers develop and place above their seed. Just as Zach Zimmer about the staff. This has nothing to do with IU keeping or recruiting local kids , but just retaining all kids they recruit.
  8. For most of the year we heard about AD's knowing wrestling and wanting to make changes. Yet only on school addressed the issue. Can one find out how much money other coaches or families donate to their wrestling programs. That money can then be shifted else where to help programs. Maybe if the focus shift from addressing the AD to the donators it would help drive results Did Purdue state a timeline to hire a new coach?
  9. Not a bad thought but Keller has just taken over the HC responsibilities at Wartburg. He has been an assistant to Miller since he graduated from UNI , if the Wartburg website is accurate. But your spot on, if they are not going to fund like a D1 program it will be hard to draw a top name coach
  10. open mat has a list of potentials, but if the Admin is not going to buy in it will be hard to get a top flight coach
  11. Re: Next years darkhorse How did IU let him get away by Threadkilla » Sun Mar 30, 2014 11:15 am Quinton Murphy of Clarion is going to be in the hunt next year. 48-7 as a redshirt this year wrestling up a weight. Threadkilla Gold Member Posts: 2206 Joined: Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:40 pm Top
  12. Rumor has it Schaefer is leaving IU
  13. Glass , snubs the nit say we should be in the big dance. Shows what his standards are for basketball compared to wrestling. Why no change at IU
  14. Wow, that is unacceptable and needs to be resolved for next year. There were comments on other states message boards about the same miss understanding. The kicker is, if your in the AA rounds most college coaches will we watching. Those matches he will never get back
  15. I guess you answered the question for all of us. I have never questioned the wrestlers or ther work ethics or efforts, just the people who jump on and try to say it is because of Goldman and Staff.
  16. So as someone else questioned you earlier in the year, are you on the staff. Nice long post to change subject and not answer the questions
  17. Matt M , what's your thoughts on season. You were quite vocal all year when I questioned thigs through out year. What are your thoughts on team, big ten results and ncaa. Did they perform like you thought, huge whole at 125 and 141 this year yet they drove two out of Bloomington at those weights last year
  18. Based on the results it does not look like els has helped the light weights at IU yet. Interesting to see how one of his first recruits Schafer from Michigan develops next year
  19. I agree with having two starters removed for grades (supposedly) it could change Admin.stance on the whole seen. I am sure some things got pushed to the limit and could be on the admin radar already. That's not the biggest issue, besides wrestling below their seeds how do you not have a full time HWY coach for your wrestler who had the best chance at NCAA. IU should of had someone in the room banging with him for three years
  20. great thoughts, now we need the administration to pull the trigger. I do believe your lead assistants can not still be training for competition. One cannot be dedicated to the wrestlers and team if he is still pursuing his interest. Great to have them in the room banging heads and teaching but they can not be fully committed to both
  21. Wow missed this on college board, there are actually guys over there supporting the IU staff. I agree IU needs to get the in state talent and the y also need to keep the out of state talent they get. Goldman is a fixture and the assistants are revolving.
  22. Disco, I hope you are right and Glass does his homework on this. Can't speak much for all in state talent but do know they have brought in some multiple state champs from NY, NJ , Ca and others who have left. People talk about Duane and or if there is a style. IU needs to step back and really look deep, one coach leaves for Prin., one leaves at start of season for Brown and the current is all about Estrangler (how many times did he compete in season this year, publicly noted at least twice) You can not build a program without stability
  23. MattM, Grenadier2012 You seem to give him a lot of credit for building osu. Yet he was not involved in recruiting or year round work in the room. Yet at IU he has been here two years and in the room with them, please tell me who he coached up or developed. His recruits or not , did the light weights improve in an aspect of their game, neutral, top or bottom. It is easy to jump on the Walsh Or Adam bandwagon, but did IU light weights improve. Most assistants move on by developing their wrestlers.
  24. Like I said I am sure he is a great competitor but lets take some time to see if that translates into a good coach. If we take a look at those OSU teams, can we correlate wins/losses for their 125,133,141,149 light weights and the same at IU. He may turn out to be a great coach, but only time will tell.
