  1. Ok, I think I understand. Trying to understand how you arrived at the quota per sectional and regional. Is it based on the sectionals overall genuis rating or is it based on the sum of points for each teams estimated points based on the genius rating? I know the Zionsville sectional is probably the toughest and received a quota of 6 points. So that means its 50% tougher than a sectional that has a 4. So did Joe input all the dual data into his magical super computer to come up with the final genuis ratings already? Also I saw quota points awarded for 5th and 6th at regional. If my memory is correct, we didnt wrestle out to the 5th or 6th spot last year at reqional. Did that change?
  2. 195 looks realy wide open and I think any of the top 5 could win it. 195 is probably hardest to predict. 126 I wouldnt say as much. I think McGreevey and Wade who have split this year and stand out more. I think this sectional will be the toughest its been in a while. Harrison has a real solid team and Jeff has reallly made a move. Also surprised how good Westside is. Roseman has done well to reload after losing a lot seniors. Benton Central has some really strong weights, but not as deep as a dual team. Delphi is down from a strong senior team last year but they have some studs. I see some good matchups this weekend. Heres the scholars take: I couldn't resist. 106 McCartney vs Anderson looks good and have great records. Has the schedule been easy or these guys state material? Not sure yet? I dont know who to pick here, but looking forward to the match. Do these guys have a history? 113- Miller is one of my three stone cold locks. Easy pick here with very little drama. Miller finally gets his sectional title and probably more this year. 120- Grimes is the favorite. Watson is improving fast. Brown from Harrison is still dangerous. Still probably Grimes here. Important to come out on top here as this is the Twin Lakes regionals toughest weight class so 2, 3, 4 will have really tough first rounds next weekend. 126- Like I mentioned earlier Wade and McGreevey. Wade but has a few losses this year, but he's drawn some really good state ranked kids. These guys have split and I think wade underperformed last weekend. Hell be on his game for this one. 132- Strawsma looks tough here and Ill give a close nod. But Jones and Strawsma looks like a fun matchup. Alvarez's funk style is dangerous and he does have a win over Jones. So cant count him out. 138- Lukaszka and Grammar should be a good close match. No disrespect Unknown Wrestler. But Grammar looked real sluggish last week and was lucky to beat Morgan. Maybe weight cut is bothering him. If he wrestles like that, It would be easy win for Lukaszka. Maybe Morgan is getting some confidence and could pull upset. 145- Another must see match is Adams vs Pullins. Pullins was out earlier from injury so no history. Should be close and Im calling a tossup. 152- My second stone cold lock. Armuth all the way as he's really opened up his game this year. Not much drama here. Probably Hart in the finals. There wont be a mental mistake like he made against Fritz last year. 160- Another must see match . Haywood vs Pusey. The first match was one of the better matches I saw all year. Last second take down by Pusey but Haywood had real chances. Skomp could be dangerous and could mess up the rematch. 170- Returning state qualifier Mote is favorite with undefeated record but wont have easy time as he was pushed by both Pruitt and Mathis in the duals. Interesting that the top 4 seeded wrestlers qualified for semi-state last year. Mathis vs Pruitt rematch will be one of the key semi matches. Munson can be dangerous. 182- Returning state qualifer Wright will be favorite. Baldwin is tough but Gary is a solid three. Probably Baldwin wins rematch. Doubt either can touch Wright. 195- This is wide open with the top 5 wrestlers can win it. Conley vs Kidwell will be fun. I know Martin is in there. I would say winner of Moore Collins match is my favorite. 220- My 3rd stone cold lock is Meyer. Meyer is heavy favorite here as he starts to peak at this time of year. The Trent kid from West side likely gets past Hall from Frontier. HWY- Kern vs Hopkins. These guys no each other well as they've wrestled 8 times. Both are smart Heavyweights, but Kern seems to find a way against Hopkins. So picking Kern. Team race wil be razor thin vs Jeff and Harrison. Bonus points will be required and wont be decided till the finals. Wouldnt be surprised to see it come down to the Kern match.
  3. Come on unknown. Dont give them any bulletin board material. He's just triying to get under your skin.
  4. West Side would have to stand on their head to catch up with Jeff or Harrison. Harrison beat West side fairly easy earlier in the season and also had 2 key starters out.
  5. If you look at the data, you see a predictable bell curve, with 138 being the most populated and 145 the second most. Looks like 106 and 113 are hardest weights to fill. I wonder what overall participation levels are at compared to prior years.
  6. I agree about the complaining from the coaches. When refs call Stalling, it generates more action and excitement in the match. I think it should be an emphasis of conversation at the officials meetings and associations.
  7. Cant believe we have track wrestling for all sectionals. Thats what i call progress Its worth waiting till 2PM. I always thought it was funny that our sectional, even up to last year, still had the report for wrestlers entered was based on the old weight classes from abut 10 years ago. You know the ones that started at 103. It was so confusing. You looked at the report and all the 170 lbers were wrestling 171.
  8. Are refs calling stalling anywhere. I think in our conference tournament, I didnt see a stalling point called. Maybe a handful of warnings. I really thinks were seeing a trend where were seeing less stalling calls. I was frustrated where kids where just backing up on their feet, And the ref calls nothing. Does anybody agree.
  9. Some good wrestling yestereday and some good matches Harrrison had 2 wresters out and Lafayette Jeff really pushed Harrison. But Harrison held on to win by 10.5. Should be close again next week at sectionals. I thought McCutcheon really wrestled well and a few of their wrestlers really took a step forward. I thought the Morgan kid from McCutcheon had Grammar, tough call at the in OT on the takedown. I thought at least should have a been a takedown or even fleeing the mat but you never get that call. The Kern Vs Trawick match at HWY was almost as good as the first one. I could see both guys placing at state. 195 was real deep weight class with some tough matches.
  10. They were up last night but somebody locked the up again. Maybe due to lineup changes. Should be up soon, id think
  11. Bane probably got seeded 4th beacuse he had direct loss to Pullins of Harrison who got seeded 3rd, who got seeded 3rd because Schrock and Shipley had better records and possibly a better state tournament history. 145 is a solid weight here. It will be a dog fight. Team race will be tight between Harrison and Jeff as Laf Jeff has moved their weights to make them stronger. Both are mostly seeded well. 113 looks like a solid weight and a lof good records at 106. HWY was seeded like I thought which will be a dog fight. 195 is also strong weight.
  12. Also some teams have the opportunity to enjoy the scenic indiana winter landscape in our 3 hour drive to conference.
  13. My info is just hearsay also about moving to Jeff which has a bigger facility than Merrillville. But I think if a team has to drive over a certain distance to a state sanctioned event, maybe over 60 miles then the state has to reimburse them for mileage. So moving south might have cost them a little gas money.
  14. Ive heard that Logansport and Laf Jeff both offered to take it. Between extra gas money and time to drive south, the decision makers didnt want to to do it.
  15. Just to promote the conference this weekend. Will have some good kids and ranked wrestlers from 3 semi-states, with the conference being having one of the largest geographical spans in the state/ Ranked kids 113- Wright Kokomo 8th at FW 113- Miller Laf Jeff 4th at MV 126- Wade Harrison 9th at MV 126 Jones Laf Jeff 10th at MV 138- Grammar Laf Jeff 10th at MV 145- Shipley Hunting North 6th at FW 145 Shrock- Logansport 3rd at MV 145 Bane Richmond 4th at NC 10th in state (Not sure if wrestling with knee inj) 152 Armuth Harrison 3rd at MV 9th at State 182 Wright Harrsion 7th at MV -retuning state qualifier 195 Collins Laf Jeff 9th at MV 195 White Anderson 6th at NC 220 Kayzer Anderson 7th at NC 220 Meyer Harrison 3rd at MV 7th at State HWY Salyer Anderson 9th at NC HWY Trawick Richmond 1st at NC HWY Kern 4th at MV 15th in state HWY Hopkins 5th at MV HWY Page Laf Jeff Ranked earlier Looks like seeding at HWY will be interesting. Hopefully see a Kern and Trawick rematch, as last match didnt disapoint. Probably no more after seeding meeting tonight.
  16. Team predictions: Should be fun with the new lafayette area teams. Team race will be between Harrison and Jeff. Huntington North Muncie Central Anderson Kokomo Logansport Richmond McCutcheon Marion HWY has a lot of talent. 145 also should be very competitive.
  17. Thats too bad for your kid to go on that roller coaster ride. But I think its cool that we now have corroborating evidence that my obscure hypothetical situation actually happened.
  18. Would that be against 2005 Angel Escobedo or against 2015 Escobedo?
  19. Grecofref, Ok, so more detail of the hypothetical situation. So say Red's team is down by five in a dual and this is the last match of the dual, and Red gets the spladle, almost has Green pinned, is up by 14 and has the nearfall points that are earned and not awarded. But Red defensively pins himself and ref recognizes it. Then the ref should stop the match, award the Red Team the tech fall and 5 points, resulting in a tie dual meet? Of course the dual would then by decided by critera. Also awkwardly, what would be the correct mechanics be. Would you just blow the whistle and explain to Red coach that you're wrestler just defensively pinned himself and match is over. Or would you call the pin, and then take it back and explain that tech fall criteria was met?
  20. There wouldnt be a change in position, he applied the move at 14-0 and is trying to pin. As Charger Dad said, its not over until the change of postion out of the pinning combination and the nearfall points were awarded.
  21. I was thinking of a hypothetical situation. What would happen if a wrestler was ahead by 14 points, and he puts his opponent in a move like the spladle where is back could be exposed. He gets the five count and has the 3 near fall points accrued on the refs fingers. Then he leans back, and unwittingly pins himself for at least 2 seconds and the ref had the guts to call a defensive pin. Would they count this as a pin, since he already had the 15 points for the tech fall? Of course his coach would be really POd. But this could happen?
  22. Sandbagging again Y2. Or is Caroll bringing their 3rd string? Y2 is not going to give any of these other teams bulletin board material.
