  1. Now that Helm is 160 he should get the #1 seed out of EV, besides Corsaro NC is kinda weak, FW IS weak, MV should be a battle between Mammolenti and Hughes.
  2. 1 uber ATHLETE, 2 good wrestlers. Most of the wrestling here is pretty bad.
  3. Does Johnson wrestle? Should be about an 82'er, might have graduated?
  4. The talent level of the weight classes above 160 is VERY diluted.
  5. Well its 3 years in since the new weight classes have taken effect, whats everyones thoughts? At first I thought it would be good, but I definately think it was a bad move for the sport.
  6. Anybody know what happened between Helm vs Stewart/Corsaro? How bout Elmore vs Moss/Pardue? How bout Rypel vs Moss/Pardue?
  7. Now DONT everyone get in an uproar, but remember he is NOT a typical 8th grader coming in. He is a VERY good wrestler, but he will be a first year junior in ISWA. Remember some of these same age kids are sophs. He prolly will place very high this year, he is a beast, physically strong and very skilled.
  8. Seen an earlier post with Guhl listed at 182, Williamson at 195. The lineup isnt set in Mid May?
  9. Thought I saw on another post awhile ago that he was NOT moving.
  10. I second that. Robinson looked very beatable Friday night.
  11. I would say the best chance of a 4 over a 1, would be at 182. Zorninger over Hurford.
  12. Scroggs from Martinsville, and how about the 2 Avon boys Williamson and Larsen? Heard Williamson might be another Cathedral boy.
  13. Quote from: 1oldwrestler on Yesterday at 12:30:19 PM What confuses me is the "no wrestlebacks" crowd thinks that to have wrestlebacks means supporting the belief that all kids should get a trophy mentality. Im not sure where this comes from. I, for one, am against the helicoptor parental belief that all kids deserve recognition but advocating wrestlebacks is not even close to "protecting Johnny's psyche" at all costs. What i want iw to see the very best going head to head at state and wrestlebacks is the only way that can be achieved. I agree. Having wrestlebacks makes it HARDER to make state. Not easier. Wrestlebacks means more wrestling. More tough matches. Wrestlebacks make it harder to EARN your spot. I support wrestlebacks because I want all the kids to earn it on the mat and not just get a easy draw. These 2 quotes were on another thread. They are pretty on the spot along with a quote about NOT giving everyone a medal. Why do people balk at others opinions on this subject? We do know that we will never see wrestlebacks, but arent we all tired of seeing some kids get to state and even place, when we all know there are better kids not even getting past the ticket round? Its taken me years to realize that unless you are crowned CHAMPION, you might not even be a top 15 kid in your weight class. I think that is one of the reasons D1 coaches do not attend our tournament (our champs are the best, but all the top kids might not be represented in the weight class). Our system is exciting , but brutal. But we want to see the best at state and we all know that just doesnt happen all the time.
  14. Seeing people on here almost bashing Sliga is VERY maddening. I am sure Robinson is a great athlete, but to compare him to one of Indiana's best WRESTLERS ever is crazy. Remember this, look at Robinsons weight class. 220 is very bad. The wrestling in that weight class is almost nonexistant, not that 195 is the greatest. I even think most Sliga bashers belittle his talent because 195 isnt that great, but 220 is terrible. Remember Sliga only lost to Braden Atwood and Aaron Stephenson (2 damn good college wrestlers) in his h.s career. Sliga wins EVERY time. Maybe not TF or major, but EVERY time.
  15. Again the first post stated the region is underestimated every year. Two things stand out here, he said the region, NOT Merrillville semi state, AND underestimated. EVERY year the region people get all worked up on here and show an elitist attitude and overtalk the rest of the state. We all know some of the greatest Indiana kids ever have come from there. Again about "The Region" take out C.P, Griffith, Hanover C, maybe Merrilville and Lowell and those other schools strike fear in NOBODY. So saying the region is being underestimated is wrong.
  16. Again based on this comment, and the reason this thread was started, I stick by my statement as the region is overrated. The post that started this was that "the region" was underestimated every year. I beg to differ, every year people talk up "the region" and downgrade the rest of the state. True, there have been great wrestlers from "the region" but to say its underestimated every year is NOT true. I still think its way overhyped year in an year out.
  17. Not sure if that would be considered an upset, looks like a tossup to me.
  18. This is the most ridiculous statement I have read on here for the last 5 years or so. The region is always touted as the greatest thing ever. I know alot of great wrestlers have come outta there, but I seriously think the region is overrated.
  19. Same with the Shaffer kid, would be a really good high schooler. These guys are as old as some sophs.
  20. Would be shocked to see this, Franklin maybe Danville no way. Danville will be lucky with 6.
  21. What do you think? I am sure some of these "stars to be" are as old as some sophomores. These parents can be thrilled when their "stud" gets a chance to wrestle NAIA or DIII. They MIGHT get a SMALL scholarship (2500 or so) at a 35,000 a year school. Great investment!
  22. Maybe 170 are athletic, some 182's, VERY few 195's, even fewer 220's. Hvy is almost stupid. The fact the #1 hvy lost to a marginal Bburg 220 is all you have to say about Hvy weight.
