Both looked insanely good!
-
I’m biased but I felt like he was the tournament’s most dominate wrestler

Every year there are a few 4's who beat a 1 Friday night. Here are some potential ones for me:
106 - Krueger (CE) over Jackson (LP) - I know Jackson is on fire but Krueger has wrestled him tough in the past.
113 - Courtney (CG) over Leavell (WC) - Again Leavell has wrestled great all season but Courtney is very good and has beat him in middle school.
113 - Cottey (PM) over Egli (EMD) - does this count?
138 - Brown (PH) over Arthur (OH) - Arthur looked great at SS but this is Brown's 3rd shot to place.
170 - Dale (PM) over Kreager (FWS) - Kreager wrestled great at SS against a good field. Prior to SS, I would have picked Dale.
195 - Eason (FC) over Khaoucha (NR) - EV was much tougher that FW at 195. I could see Eason taking this.
220 - Viel (EC) over Clifford (CC) - New Castle was by far the deepest 220 SS. Tough draw for FW who I think goes 0-4 at 220 on Friday Night.
285 - Donati (PE) over Shafer (CO) - Shafer looked great at SS but Donati comes from a rich program in Penn. Not saying it happens but saying I wouldn't be surpised.
Again, notice this is "Potential 4 over 1's" not "Predictions of 4 over 1's". What do y'all think? Who else is on upset alert?
Your 220 prediction was on point

Yes he's a monster.. He's got the tools to win it, but getting past Friday night then Erb will tell us all we need to know.. I like Erb to make the finals if he beats Shafer IMHO but he's got a tall test in front of him figuratively and literally!
Just talked to a buddy from Franklin County, and he confirmed that Shafer is yet to see the second period this season. All first period pins. Just FYI.

If I'm not mistaken he's pinned everybody all season including through semi state.
I heard someone say that at NC. I’m not sure. I walked by him up there, and the kid has got to be 6’5” 6’6” ish, 250 lbs or so, all muscle. He just doesn’t look like a normal heavyweight.

If Shafer wrestles like the kid I seen at the NC Semi State.... he’s your state champ. He’s a specimen. And no he’s not from my sons school

In full disclosure. I just haven’t seen Mendez wrestle this year

Most outstanding wrestler was awarded to Colton Gonzalez of Connersville. Undefeated regular season.
-
160- Colton Gonzalez over Weimer 4-3. Gonzalez will be at 160 for rest of season.
-
Gonzalez is at 160 today at the spartan classic. Gotta be the favorite if he can stay there.
-
Most entertaining match of the night. I don't want a state champion who doesn't have some real fight. I'm a fan of both guys after that match. That was old school wrestling and I'm glad Wilson wasn't dq'd
-
Hiestand wrestled smart. Feel bad for Corsaro but he just looked timid.
-
Imo Wilson threw a punch (right hook) should've been disqualified. No way that it should be tolerated. I for the record am not Perry fan.
No doubt about it. Fun to watch though!
-
That was clearly a takedown by Gonzo. Frankie just missed it he will review it later and be like oops, Know it was a great match though can't ever leave it in the hands of the refs.
Was told by Gonzalez's coach that Frankie has already reviewed it and apologized. He's a stand up guy. Can't get em all right.
-
I agree. I think he wins 170 too. Especially if he gained the 10 lbs. Just too good on his feet.
-
care to enlighten us on how he got robbed
I think he is referring to Gonzalez take down of Osborn at the end that wasn't awarded. Seemed pretty clear cut in real time and even more so upon replay review. No dog in this fight... Just saying. In case it comes up I'm with East Central.
-
Frankie missed it Gonzo got robbed!
Gonzalez clearly won that match. Really can't make a legit case the other way.
-
And he received an Injury Default in the quarter finals. He has yet to wrestle a match in state and will be going up against Nick Lee of EMD in the semi-finals.
This has to favor Lee. Micic wrestling biggest match of the year cold.
-
Merrillville also had 4 pins that won't count towards team points.
Hate this for them. Merrilville and Mater Dei helped their chances for sure.
-
Lee, Osborn, Red, Robinson, Gonzalez, missed some guys I heard dominated.
Omonode???
