  1. He will face Michael Wolfgram, PA 4th placer in final. His semi-final foe DeBoe beat Wolfgram 5-2 in PIAA seminfinal.
  2. 132 Semis have Manzona Bryant vs. Kris Rumph and Dawson Combest vs. Mosha Schwartz, Wyoming Seminary
  3. Mills has Jakob Camacho, ranked #11 (Flo) a 126
  4. Garcia has Dominick Serrano, ranked #12 (intermat)/#16 (Flo) at 126. Donnell Washington advances in the semis
  5. A quick summary after the evening has closed... In the quarterfinals: 106 - Jacob Moran 113 - Jesse Mendez 120 - Asa Garcia 126 - Ty Mills 132 - Manzona Bryant - Dawson Combest - Kris Rumph 145 - Kendall Coleman 170 - Carson Brewer 285 - Mason Parris Alive in the consolations: 132 - Ian Dembowski (3 consi wins) 138 - Nathan Conley (3 consi wins) 145 - Tristan Sellmer (4 consi wins) 152 - Donnell Washington (3 consi wins) 160 - Joseph Walker (1/1 champ/consi win) - Graham Calhoun (1/1 champ/consi win) My apologies if I missed anyone.
  6. He went 19-3 according to Track and finished 7th at the Midlands. Beat a couple of NCAA qualifiers, but no real big wins from what I could tell. But only one tournament and 4 matches after the Midlands in December, so I'd call it somewhat quiet. Hope he can slide right into the lineup next year. Looking forward to see if he can join Red & Lee having great success in DI
  7. My only other notes: While I believe Nick had a better season, and I DO think it is more impressive doing so as a true frosh as opposed to a redshirt frosh (yes, i know what Nick did last year, but there is also still a year difference in physical maturation for Red that counts), that does not translate to me predicting a score if they wrestled. Until the result changes, I still see their first result and have zero doubt Chad would have all the focus and motivation he would need facing Lee again, so I'd refrain from going there. It's still a true toss up until I am proven wrong. And while I think comparing the resume of the entire season is not close, they both finished strong and my preference of Lee's results does not diminish the fact that Chad is a helluva wrestler and had a great year as well. I'm sure there are some matches he'd like back, but the same with Nick. Lastly, I said in in the NCAA Tournament thread that I thought a win over Heil might just become a catapult for Chad to higher achievements. A win like that could boost his confidence and focus moving forward. That was a huge win and he should be proud of it. Like others have said. Both have given IN wrestling fans reason to be proud and there is only better days to come with the these two and others coming.
  8. It's not even close.... A few additions/corrections to your list: Lee beat Limmex twice, both majors; Red lost to Limmex twice Lee beat Josh Alber twice, once by fall; Red lost to Alber Lee beat Cole Weaver by major; Red lost to Weaver Lee beat Vince Turk; Red split two matches with Turk Red beat Diehl twice; Lee split two matches with Diehl, won by major, lost by fall Lee beat Jack; Red lost to Jack twice Both lost to: Michael Carr of Illinois and to Brock Zacherl of Clarion Red finished strong in the NCAA Tournament with a nice 7th place finish after entering unseeded (I thought he should have been in the teens) Lee finished strong in the NCAA Tournament, winning finishing 5th. Both lost their first match in the NCAA Tournament and battled back well. But when evaluating the full season, it's not close.
  9. I just took a quick look at the senior division... found 11 IN guys. Flo's breakdown by class said IN had 12 so I may have missed someone. There are a handful of guys I'm not familiar with. Would anyone be kind enough to fill me in on the following guys? 138 Spencer Kirchgessner 152 Koby Lundy 152 Jeremian Ford 160 Korde Weber 170 Sam Gobeyn 285 Marcus Stone Others in the senior division and their early records: 126 Ty Mills 0-1 132 Collin Poynter 3-0 in Quarterfinals 138 Kris Rumph 3-0 in Quarterfinals 145 Kasper McIntosh 3-0 in Quarterfinals 145 Bryton Goering 1-1
  10. That brings up a question I asked myself during the tournament when I heard about the Tucker incident too. So I will ask you Y2 and other coaches on here. As a coach, at what point do you say enough is enough and sit the kid, if the tourney itself doesn't DQ him? Would it have been a crazy thing if the coach made him FF his next match? I know the answer isn't going to be black and white, but I would appreciate the thoughts of coaches and how they see it from their perspective and how it might differ if it is a kid on your team.
  11. Love watching Bo Nickal! Never know where it is going to come from!! Nickal has beaten Martin 7 out of 9 times. I think Bo has MM's # and then some.
  12. A win by Nickal clinches the team title. A loss leaves it in the hands of Snyder.
  13. Theoretically yes. Wins by both Martin and Snyder with 2.5 bonus points would win it for Ohio St.
  14. Zain has faced a lot of guys this year that have tried to slow down the matches with lots of head slaps and staying at a distance. Of course, that leaves them no chance for offense, but slows Zain down. Perry was tall and that may have made it harder for Zain to ride him hard.
  15. All Americans By State:PA - 15OH - 11NJ - 8CA - 5MI - 5IN - 4MN - 4NY - 4OK - 4IA - 3MO - 3OR - 2No other state with more than 1 The state of OH went 0-9 in the semifinals!
  16. My predictions.... 125 - Spencer Lee - really flipping a coin here. One of the matches I am most excited to watch! 133 - Stevan Micic - Kind of a homer pick here, but he has been wrestling really, really well. 141 - Yianni Diakomihalis - He's so good physically, scrambles well and I think he's on a level mentally different than most. 149 - Zain Retherford - There will be lots of paid administered 157 - Jason Nolf - Seeding was bullshit. Hidlay may be good, but he's not ready for this moment. 165 - Isaiah Martinez - Think it will be exciting, but IMAR is one of the all-time greats. He'll avenge last year's fall 174 - Mark Hall - Another coin flip. I think Hall feels like he has something to prove after losing the exhibition match before the season. Defending champ, undefeated, yet ranked #2 all year. 184 - Bo Nickal - Nickal has won 6 of 8 matches against Martin. I see the trend continuing. 197 - Jared Haught - Flipping again, but with a little history on my side. Haught has won twice, 2-1 and 6-4 TB2 this year. Decided to go with the guy who got the wins, rather than the tough to beat a guy 3x theory. 285 - Adam Coon - More flips! Maybe Snyder is that great. Maybe part of him being great is learning to adjust? But he gives up so much weight and Coon is very athletic for his size. Feel weird going against a World and Olympic Champ, but I think the weight difference is the key and it's Snyder's choice to wrestle closer to his freestyle weight. Not sure if he could be better in folkstyle carrying more weight or not, but weight can't be an excuse for him if he doesn't win. Penn State wins by 10-12 points if Snyder loses. 6-8 if Snyder proves me wrong.
  17. Here was my best attempt last night.... Took it after you posted in the thread on the college board.
  18. 165 3rd - Evan Wick, Wisconsin by fall over Chance Marsteller, Lock Haven 5th - David McFadden, Va Tech by fall over Alex Marinelli, Iowa 7th - Jonathan Chavez, Cornell 10-5 dec over Chandler Rogers, OK St 174 3rd - Myles Amine, Michigan 4-2 SV1 over Daniel Lewis, Missouri 5th - Bo Jordan, OSU MFF over Jordan Kutler, Lehigh 7th - David Kocer, San Diego St 7-2 dec over Jacobe Smith, OK St 184 3rd - Emery Parker, Illinois 8-1 win over Taylor Venz, Nebraska 5th - Domenic Abounader, Michigan 8-2 dec over Zachary Zavatsky, Va Tech 7th - Chip Ness, UNC won 6-3 over Max Dean, Cornell 197 3rd - Kyle Conel, Kent wins 5-3 over Kollin Moore, OSU 5th - Jacob Holschlag, Northern Iowa wins by fall over Ben Darmstadt, Cornell 7th - Shakur Rasheed, Penn St major dec 11-3 over William Miklus, Missouri 285 3rd - Amar Dhesi, Oregon St wins by fall over Jacob Kasper, Duke 5th - Sam Stoll, Iowa won by fall over Mike Hughes, Hofstra 7th - Nick Nevills, Penn St 7-5 dec over Youssif Hermida, Maryland Ohio State leads the team race after the consolations 130.5 - 124.5. Wins by Nick Lee, Shakur Rasheed and Nick Nevills, combined with losses by Kollin Moore and Micah Jordan kept the Buckeyes lead from being even greater. With 5 Nittany Lions in the finals vs. 2 for the Buckeyes, Penn St is likely the favorite to win. But a Bo Nickal vs. Myles Martin match could have a huge say in who wins the title. Other factors to look for are: - Will Zain Retherford get bonus points? A major is nearly a given. Will he get more for a TF or Fall? I'd say better than 50/50 - Will Jason Nolf beat the undefeated Hidlay? My guess is that is very likely. - How will Vincente Cenzo and Mark Hall fare against IMAR and Valencia? Both winning again isn't likely. If they do, then the title is pretty much a done deal. - Nickal vs Martin - head to head. - Snyder vs Coon - the final match and one not to be missed!
  19. SIAP Here's how close it came this weekend. - If Lee won his first match and lost his second, he would have dropped down to face Red. - Once they both earned all-america status, a loss by both in any round would have matched them up, or wins by both all the way to 3rd/4th, of course. Instead, Lee was upset his first match which kept him in the top half of the bracket and after AA round, Red lost to Jack and Lee won. So we just missed a couple of ways!
  20. Day 3 - Medal Round 125 3rd - Nathan Tomasello, OSU wins 8-6 SV1 over Ethan Lizak of Minnesota. Got the TD with :10 left 5th - Darian Cruz, Lehigh with a 7-4 dec over Sebastian Rivera, Northwestern - Cruz shows he has some offense for the 1st time this tournament 7th - Ronnie Bresser, Oregon St. wins by MFF over Zeke Moisey, West Virginia 133 3rd - Tariq Wilson, NC St. 17-8 over OSU's Luke Pletcher in a fun match to watch! 5th - Kaid Brock, OK St. 10-1 over Scott DelVeccio Rutgers 7th - Scott Parker, Lehigh 5-2 over Montorie Bridges, Wyoming 141 3rd - Joey McKenna, OSU with a 7-2 win over Missouri's Jaydin Eierman 5th - Nick Lee wins 9-7 over Kevin Jack, NC St in sudden victory! 7th - Chad Red wins by fall at 7:00 over Sa'Derian Perry, Eastern Michigan! 149 3rd - Matthew Kolodzik, Princeton 3-2 dec over Troy Heilmann, UNC 5th - Brandon Sorenson, Iowa 4-0 dec over Grant Leeth, Missouri 7th - Jason Tsirtsis, Ariz St with a tight 2-1 dec over Boo Lewallen, OK St. Wins on riding time. Congrats JT! 157 3rd - Tyler Berger, Nebraska wins by injury default over Iowa's Michael Kemmerer 5th - Alec Pantaleo, Michigan wins 6-3 over Micah Jordan, OSU 7th - Josh Shields, Ariz St 11-5 win over Luke Zilverburg, South Dakota St
  21. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. I think it is more the fact he has to chase the wrestlers down as they are heading to the back while they are still breathing heavily from their match. It would be much better if they could make arrangements for winners if asked, to take 5 and come back for an interview. Last night, Retherford didn't even take his mouthpiece out. It's no different at the Big Ten Tourney with Shane Sparks.
  22. Matches moving quickly this morning. OSU off to a fast start with wins at the first 3 weights. Micah Jordan drops a SV 4-2 dec to Berger of Nebraska for their first loss. Bo Jordan vs. Michigan's Myles Amine up next in a key match for the Buckeyes.
  23. Day 3 - Saturday morning - Consolation Semifinals and 3rd -8th Place Matches Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! We have 4 Hoosiers remaining. 1st up will be Nick Lee in the conso semifinal. Followed by placement matches for Lee, Chad Red and Jason Tsirtsis. Stevan Micic sits out this morning session and will wrestle for the 133 lb title this evening! Ohio State and Penn State are battling for the title. Penn St. had a huge night last night to take the lead and has 5 wrestlers in tonight's finals. OSU will have to make up some ground and build a lead in today's consolations as they only have two in tonight's finals. Big start for OSU with Tomasello with a fall over Northwestern's Sebastian Rivera. 141 Nick Lee drops a 12-4 decision to Jaydin Eierman of Missouri and will wrestle for 5th/6th. The match reminded me a bit of Nick's semifinal loss to Stevan Micic his freshman year. Nick was great, but not quite ready for the elite level at that point. As he develops physically, we'll see if he can enter into that upper level.
