Triton didn't have a 106 or 113 either.

That's a pretty big "If" considering Franklin's current 106 pinned Yorktown's current 106 last year at Franklin's MS Super 10 and moving Smith back to 113 w/ a solid Wilkerson @ 120 would, at the very most, cause just a few team points to be traded.

We heard Jan 6 also which means wrestlers will have to make scratch for Team State.

Think "Funk" wrestling usually refers to nontraditional wrestling moves...for lack of a better description. Wrestlers that can make something work that shouldn't work or can scramble and come out ahead even if not technically sound.

Great match! Thought Franklin wrestled PM better than they wrestled Bloomington So in the match before. Match was even closer than score showed as others have said. Of the 12 weight classes that wrestled, 7 were 1 or 2 pt decisions (including OT win by Smith over Cottey @106). 4 addtional weight classes were no bonus decisions (including Stevenson over Bova @138 & James over Reese @113). One major decision for PM. No falls or tech falls either way. Very exciting to watch! Did not like that many of the close matches came down to inconsistent calling/no calling of stalls & out-of-bounds by the officials, often in OT. This happened both ways and in both rounds so guess they were consistent in that regard :. Lots of "2 ref" discussions after what seemed like every other call---some resulting in overturns that essentially decided the match. Hate to see outcomes determined by questionable calls when both wrestlers have wrestled so hard...I know, I know...."welcome to h.s.wrestling". Congratulations to both teams!

Not a big deal but just for the record, Franklin's injury defaults at 126 & 132 were actually J.Gramse and A.Burnside respectively.

But again....they recalibrated the scale PART WAY through weigh-ins (actually it appears after only 2 weight classes had weighed on that scale), after Spencer had weighed in officially but before weigh ins were finished or final. The officials obviously believed there was a problem with the scale or no recalibration needed to occur. After the recalibration, when he got on he was back to the 2 tenths under that he was when he checked on that scale pre-weigh-in. If they recorded weights of the other weight classes after the recalibration on that scale, it seems to make sense that they would have allowed the weight classes who had just weighed, to re-weigh on the corrected scale also. Rules are rules but sometimes common sense needs to prevail.

I do know that it was contested as soon as Spencer's coach was made aware of what was happening however the commisisoner wasn't immediately available. And Spencer is right, he was one of the first to weigh in officially. I also know that other wrestlers weighed heavier between the check weight and the official weight on the same scale with no cause, my son being one of them. Fortunately he was still under. Spencer is an excellent leader and showed great maturity by leading the Franklin wrestlers for warm-ups and watching each and every match even after this had happened. He is an outstanding young man no matter what the decision turns out to be.
