  1. Awesome event so far. Great attendance. Meet starting at 170. I'll try and give updates but no garuntee on names, ha.
  2. Idk of any coaches on here from Central. But i do know that at their conference tournament WhoBerry is wrestling 152. Why not bump instead of forfeit? Hundreds of teams put kids small for the weight in the varsity line up to fill a spot. Why didn't central forfeit their second year wrestler to Konrath then? In both tournaments I went to at Mount Vernon! nobody forfeited to Konrath, Kelley, or Kemper that had a kid just sitting not the bench besides Mount Vernon.
  3. After seeing the brackets, here are my predictions: 106: Egli Schaefer Hall Oakley 113: Ferguson Lugs Hortly Matherly 120: Johnson Brown Arney Willis 126: Lee Wargel Clapton Bruce 132: Jourdan Davis Ramsey McCormick/Brown 138: Schnell Seng Petrig Dixon 145: Pierre Williams Farmer Smith 152: Kelley Weinzapel Riegal Abshier 160: Kemper Forzley Stotlar Jeffress 170: Lockyear Huelsing Kempf Shaw/Winchell 182: Bassemeier Dowell Voegel Francis 195: Brown Hart Orth Lamar 220: Kyles Butler Helfert Barnes HWT: Cox Page Page Moon
  4. With Kerstiens at 152. I don't see a reason why he doesn't make it to state, and place definitely isn't a stretch by any means either. Good luck to him.
  5. The thing is Ferguson dominated that match too. then coasted the 3rd period giving up a takedown just to avoid trouble.
  6. The idea behind Willis bent bumped up was to try and win as a team. Atleast Willis still wrestled. If will is wrestles and gets beat at 120, then forfeit 126, Central is down z9. Instead, Central bumped to 126 and beat their guy. So central was down 3 instead. Mount Vernon BENCHED a guy, not BUMPED a guy to still wrestle. That's the difference.
  7. Not real life scenarios haha. Strictly conversational pieces.
  8. The reason they were not seeded may be due to not knowing which weight they were going. If they were seeded, they could not wrestle any weight exept the one they were seeded at.
  9. 106: Egli 113: Ferguson 120: Lahue 126: Lee 132: James 138: Hughes 145: Forte 152: Kelley 160: Vinny C 170: McClosky 182: Rypel 195: Kral 220: Robinson HWT: Bernard I'll even go team predictions: 1. Penn 2. Cathedral 3. EMD 4. Franklin Community 5. PM
  10. Last of my 3 questions. Scenario #3: Wrestle is really light for his weight, almost ineligible. Such as weighing in naturally at 154.2 to wrestle 170+2 to make varsity. This wrestle also gets sick before Sectionals (LOL), weighing in at around 145 now by accident. His minimum weight is like 148 but he is wrestling 170 for sectionals. This wrestle would then be ineligible because he is too light, correct?
  11. The second of my 3 questions. Scenario #2: Wrestler's minimum weight on his chart says he can make 120 and weigh 119.4. The wrestler is wrestling 126 throughout the year. Then he gets sick for almost 2 weeks leading up to Conference and Sectionals. Drops crazy weight and weighs 113 by complete accident and says "What the heck, why not?". So he tries to wrestle 113 at Conference and then 113+2 at Sectionals. Would this not work because his minimum weight? Would he have to weigh 113 and wrestler 120 or 126 anyways. Or would that also not work because his minimum weight is 119.4? This is all "What IF" of course.
  12. 3 very unique questions have come to mind about these rules, maybe someone else might find them interesting as well. Scenario: Wrestler makes 126 first meet of the year. Continues to weigh in 5 more times so he has 6 qualifying weigh ins. Then decides he doesn't want to cut the rest of the year, he wrestles 132 and 138. The week before sectionals he says he wants to go 126 again but just weighed 140.0 seven days before sectionals. Is there any rule to prevent this? To my personal understanding he could, it just wouldn't be a "qualifying" weigh in. Since he already has 6 at that weight, would that be correct?
  13. 113 Fergson #4 over Konrath #1 (106) 9-6
  14. Castle 5-0 Central 4-1 Mount Vernon 3-2 Reitz 2-3 Not sure on the rest. Konrath manned up and bumped against Ferguson. Ferguson dominated at first up 9-1 in 2 periods. But I'd say 3rd period was all Konrath hitting that SICK fireman's. Although clear size difference, very fun match for the fans! Schnell looked very solid all day. Gonna pick him of Seng for next week. Ferguson bumped up to wrestle Willis which was also nice to see! Willis bumped and did not wrestle Brown though. I believe they were trying to save some team points. As far as the Mount Vernon forfeiting thing. How are those two young men supposed to get matches? If everyone followed your mentality, those poor kids would only have like 10 actual matches. The 160 pounder wrestled all day long and sat on the bench to watch them get their forfeits. Although they did not have a 170 pounder all day which was where Kemper received his forfeit. Not only do the kids wanna wrestle, fans travel 40 minutes to watch their wrestlers wrestle, not receive forfeits because Mount Vernon thinks it doesn't benefit them enough. Selfish act that they committed both times Central wrestled at Mount Vernon.
  15. Seng over Schnell at 138. Smith over Williams in the semi's at 145. Weinzapel over Riegal at 152. Only changes I would make.
  16. The most under ranked kid in the state is got to be Blake Jourdan of mater dei. VERY solid technician.
  17. Isaiah Kemper isn't too bad either.
  18. I'll go out on a limb without the draws and say: 1- Ferguson 2- Smith 3- Pepple 4-Crury 5-Garza 6-Elliot 7-Gomez 8-Torres
  19. If all things went exactly as the rankings said: Evansville would have 27 placers with 4 champs. New Castle 35 placers and 7 champs. Fort Wayne 18 placers and 0 champs. MV 42 placers and 3 champs.
