  2. 42-3 OPRF with a couple matches left
  3. I suppose this thread is why I do not read or post too often. Emotions can test character when a wrestler is your child, someone you are close to, or someone you coach. I am in no position for defense. Thank you to those kind words previously posted. I can post a long list of obstacles that Jer has overcome or has dealt with , that has compiled, and resulted. I guess those would be excuses and we (especially Jer) will have none of that. Setbacks and adversity are what defines our lives. Its a tough pill to swallow, but the emotions run way deeper upon failure than victory. Finally, in 2 years, he is 100% with an open road ahead, and I foremost pray that it stays that way. The one thing not mentioned is that Tyler Fergusson won a very important match and is a very good wrestler. And also has overcome , as I have been told, hisown obstacles and setbacks. In a field of 10 returning state placers, there was going to be some heartbreaks. Another arguement for wrestlebacks maybe, idk. Working hard? Oh geeze. Im out.
  4. Shot by reitz , on leg, out of bounds. Shot by reitz, over under, quick stalemate. Shot by reitz, on leg, defended , reitz hung on . Bundled , scrambled too late.
  5. You should be a politician! Statistical convo, immediately feeding crow. The population of all those states, except wiscosin, are way larger than indiana. new york 19million, illinois and pennsylvania 12 million, ohio and michigan 9 million. ok, Indiana. do we really need class wrestling? I believe it would lower the bar, and ruin the best event tha IHSAA has going.
  6. wow. I guess we need to do a study on this. How many kids, and how many placers, and really look into the future of indiana wrestling as a class sport......... because when wrestlers are the same size and same age(roughly) its still not fair, so lets make it easier for some kids to accomplish something, that will not really mean anything anyhow. How about this..........work harder and do the best you can! And if dont reach your goals, well...... be happy with what you got and make the most of it. Thats life. I appreciate everyones stance, but no number, no arguement will ever lead me to believe that class wrestling in indiana is going to benefit anyone. especially the athletes. If anything, it will produce less competitiveness in our wrestlers, and will reward more athletes for accomplishing less. I say no way!
  7. Let me get this straight. This is evidence that we should have class wrestling? Because schools with a very small enrollment are not well represented in the state finals? To me, if this is fact...... That wrestlers from small schools make up a smaller percentage of competitors in the state finals tournament, simply because they attend schools that have a smaller student population............if that is fact.... then this whole arguement is absolutely redundant. Because, simply, since they make up such a small portion of the state athlete body, as compared to their counterparts (or larger schools) that take up a much higher percentage of the state student population....... then of course there will be less athletes from the smaller schools competiting. This is one sport where the playing field is level. If your school is smaller, and you feel at a disadvantage, then we will make it a little easier for you Johnny! heck NO! That is the exact attitude that erodes character in perseverance and would make a mockery of wrestling as a sport! I just do not see how anyone, especially a coach, that would support class individual wrestling in Indiana. To me , a coach who supports class wrestling, truely does not have the best interest of the athletes at heart. Maybe we should have another championship too.... for all the kids from the big schools that may heve 2, 3 maybe even 4 wrestlers ahead of them and cannot crack the lineup because their school has 2000 boys. Some kids may go to small schools, but at least they have a spot in the lineup!
  8. This talk about class wrestling is absurd. I cannot understand the notion that ANY wrestler, coach, parent , or fan would even entertain the thought to promote Class wrestling. Wrestling format in Indiana High School should remain intact! 1 Champion per weight class....PERIOD!! Of all sports in this world, Wrestling is as Equal an opportunity for both athletes as can possibly be! Dont give me the garbage about small schools not having the opportunity so lets give out something for nothing! You are the same size, and its 1 on 1 for crying out loud!!!!!If you want it, work for it! Class wrestling would ruin the best event the IHSAA puts on each year. You want to do class dual wrestling, then go ahead. Dont mess with perfection, or near perfection, wrestlebacks would be nice!
  9. saw them wrestle this summer! who wins? The world shall never know. Both great!
  10. Drew Hildebrant Penn 8th@106 2. Colton Cummings Lowell 9th ( note that hildebrandt has never beat cummings) 3. Jeremiah Reitz Griffith 9 4. Tyler Joseph Portage 10 :o
