  1. Result of 152 Ferguson vs Stillinger match?
  2. CONGRATULATIONS to JENNINGS COUNTY, the 2012 Jennings County SECTIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONS and to all the Individual Sectional Champs Good luck at Bloomington South Regional next week
  3. Congrats on your son being a squad leader. Our son, PFC Steven Rieker, just graduated from MCRD in San Diego on September 23rd. It was definitely a long 13 weeks, but well worth it when you see your son do the run thru on Thursday morning on family day and then walk across the Parade Deck on graduation day. When you go out for his graduation, make sure you arrive both mornings before 7am and you will get to see him practicing for graduation on the parade deck. Also on Thursday, be sure you go to the courtyard between 7-9 am to purchase a couple of crucible coins ($10 each). They can only be purchased on Thursday morning and they go very fast. Make sure to take a camcorder and a camera for lots of pictures and videos. Also, be sure to take time to visit the museum and the museum store. Lunch at the Bayview on Thursday was very good but costs about $16.00 a person and this is a time that you can visit with his Drill Instructors. There is an excellent website that is full of information for family and friends http://marinefamilynetwork.com. Also 2 weeks before graduation they put out a video of the members of the different platoons for that company and is amazing to see how all the young men look. God bless your son for to serving our country. Julie p.s. Our oldest son, Christoph re-enlisted with the Indiana Army National Guard on September 26th and Zachary swore in on August 17th with the Marine Option ROTC at Purdue University.

  5. I know there are three sets of twins (Welch, Kieffer, and Lefever) and half of the quadruplets (Rieker) qualified for state this year. Because of bracketing, they all won't meet up in the finals, but along those lines, has there ever been four sets of mutiples make it to the state tournament before?
  6. The match wasn't against one of my boys so I don't remember who the young man is or from what school he is from, but I was wondering if anyone knows how the wrestler who was taken to the hospital with either a head or neck injury in one of the early matches of the day is doing. My family and I have been praying all weekend for him, for his family and for his team and have been wondering how he is doing.
  7. So, Is the Shelbyville Team Regional on Thursday, February 3rd or next Wednesday, February 9th? IHSAA has it being tomorrow?
  8. This is what is the information on their website: http://athletics.uindy.edu/documents/2010/8/19/2011_Greyhound_Open_Info.pdf
  9. Being the mom of 4 seniors (3 boys and 1 girl), I would say this year?s wrestling season has been one of so many smiles and quite a few tears. Time has just flown and I can hardly believe that there are only a few weeks left of the season. As I get up every Saturday morning to pack the boys? cooler, get into the car and drive to their wrestling meets, I realize it will be the last time my boys will lace up their shoes and wrestle at the host school. On the way to the meets, I reminisce about their first matches at the host school, the numerous friends they have come to know from the various schools, the many coaches and refs they have met, and of course some crazy stories they have told when they got home from those meets. I remember how they gave up their summers to improve their wrestling skills by attending various wrestling camps and tournaments around the country and even a trip to Japan. While at the meets this year, I sit in the stands sometimes cheering and sometimes just taking it all in. I have this tremendous pride as I watch them got out on the mat as team leaders. All three of the boys have taken younger teammates under their wings. I had one parent tell me how one of my sons (the one who rarely talks) was able to speak to her son in a way no one else could and because of those one or two sentences my son spoke, her son has a totally different attitude about cutting weight and how he is an integral part of the team?s success as well as all the others. Another thing I have seen is how one of my other boys perform a cute little ritual of folding his warm-ups into this neat little pile that has to be just so before every one of his matches (Definitely not like his mother who hates to fold clothes). Or, the way their sister keeps score for their matches then joins her brothers between matches sitting on the empty mats, laughing and joking with them and several other wrestlers. Or the way the boys make sure their teammates have a ride to practice or to the local gym to run on the treadmill or swim laps in the pool. Or how our house has become a place where fellow teammates hang out playing XBOX, telling stories or watching movies almost daily. I am continuously amazed at how their confidence, their determination, their maturity, their sacrifices, and their sportsmanship have grown by leaps and bounds over their high school career. On the days leading up to their team?s senior night program, my kids begged me not to cry when we were being introduced. It was hard to do but I managed not to cry that night. But I didn?t tell them I had spent most of the day in my room shedding many tears. Now with the start of the tournament series being just a couple days away, I know I will shed many tears over the next few weeks but I also know I will have a lot of memorable and joyful moments. So as a parent of four seniors, I thank you for allowing all of us to be a part of this wonderful wrestling family. I also want to thank God for giving me such great kids or should I say fine young men and a fine young lady. I have definitely been blessed times four. Good luck to all the seniors. May you reach your goals and may all your dreams come true. Julie Rieker
  10. Don't hold your breath. It hasn't happened for my boys the past 3 years. Even when one made it to state, his name was still spelled incorrectly in the program and on the souvenir shirts. The coach said he tried to get it corrected each week of the tournament series, but no such luck in getting it corrected. To some having their name spelled incorrectly is no big deal, but when it comes to the boys' name being spelled correctly for the tournament series, it is the one big deal that all three of the boys will agree on. (Rarely will all three boys agree on the same thing.) After all their sacrifices, hardwork and strong determination the past several years, their goal is to make state, be under the lights and win. Which I really hope happens. And no matter what the outcome, I am extremely proud of them. So getting their names correct now before all the programs are typed up and shirts printed, seems like the least I can ask for. I know there are others around the state with names spelled incorrectly. So I am hoping that the right person or persons reads this post and will correct the Steven's name for the tournament series, in addition, I hope to get all coaches to proofread their team's roster for incorrect name spellings and get them corrected now. All the kids around the state have sacrificed and worked hard to reach for their goals, so I think the least coaches and tournament workers can do at the beginning of the tournament series and as the wrestler moves on to the next level each week is to ensure correct spelling of the wrestler's name. Just my two cents.
  11. I know this is probably trivial to some, however, Is there a way name spellings can be corrected on the brackets? Two of my wrestlers have their name spelled correctly and one does not. Just find it amusing that two of my kids' names are correct but the third one seems to always gets misspelled. Our last name is spelled RIEKER. I just would like for their name to be spelled correctly for this year's Brackets since they are seniors. I know in the past the coaches have tried to get their names corrected with no success. So I was hoping someome on here may have an idea how to go about correcting their names. ** I also noticed in Jennings County brackets that Jordan Gast's last name is also spelled incorrectly. Thanks
  12. First of all, I want to let you know that I was going to wait until February to become a member of the Indianamat.com message board contributor, but I decided now seemed like a better time than later. Hopefully, I won?t upset my boys by writing this but, I feel this cannot wait till the end of their high school wrestling. My name is Julie Rieker and I currently have 3 boys wrestling for Columbus East. I am sure many of you know who they are. I also have a daughter that has been scorekeeper and manager for East wrestling. To begin with I want to say that my family has been involved in Indiana wrestling since 2003. My whole family has been a huge fan of Indiana wrestling since then. In the past, we enjoyed reading the message board at the IHSWCA and now the Indianamat.com website. So I would like to begin with thanking Coach Cooper, Coach Fisher, Coach Chitwood, Coach Miller, Coach Zollman, Coach Metzger, Coach Zollman, Coach Trapp and Coach Bryant and many others for all the time, confidence, mentoring and support they have given my 3 boys over the past several years. I would also like to thank their family members that have given so much for the time they gave up so my boys and the rest of the East wrestlers could achieve what they have these past several years. I also want to thank all the other coaches around the state that coached them in all their many wrestling tournament and camps over the past several years which included states of Ohio, North Dakota, Florida, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois and even overseas to Japan. And to the coaches? families that sacrificed their family time for these coaches to represent Indiana wrestlers. All of these coaches represent what Indiana wrestling is. These coaches, as well as many others, represent Indiana wrestling by travelling around the state, country and other nations representing ALL of our Indiana wrestlers by giving their best in commitment, time, hard work, sacrifice, success and most importantly family so that ALL of Indiana wrestlers are Champions in their own right. While I don?t always agree or understand a coach?s decision, I respect that decision and so do my boys. And if any of them or I have issues with that decision; we take it to the coach and/or the other parents. The boys know that as long as they give 110% for their team and their coach, they have done all they can to win, be a leader to the team and no matter the outcome makes their family proud. And believe me, there have been many times I have been frustrated, upset and have had to sit back and watch my kids struggle and overcome obstacles to get to where they are today. But because of those struggles and obstacles, all three of my boys are fine young boys I am so proud of. They have matured to take on challenges head on, make their own decisions and accepted the results of those challenges and decisions. I have family members and friends that keep up with my boys? wrestling by reading the Indianamat.com message board and results. So lately, I have become very frustrated with some of the messages left on the message board. It seems as of lately it has become more of a board to try to ruin wrestlers and team reputations. Yes, my boys are not perfect and neither are their teammates. And yes, my boys have done some things they should not have, like throw a fit or head gear. So their coaches have taught them to take it to a hallway, bathroom or locker room to deal with their frustrations. Also, as their parents, my husband and I have made sure the boys take responsibility for their actions and apologize to their coach and even their team mates but we have also found someone who can relate to them to talk about their behavior on and off the mat. Depending on which of my boys, depended on which coach was able to get through to him at the time of the incident. I am sure most other wrestlers have had a time when they lost their ?cool? also. Yes, it is embarrassing and frustrating to the family and coach when this happens. And yes, I am sure over some point of their past 7.5 years of wrestling they have missed getting their placing reward for some reason. Yes, they should have been there, but they weren?t. You cannot change the past but you can change the future. There has also been talk about why kids, quit, move somewhere, removed from the team, etc? The Why isn?t important! What is important that we as a wrestling family support these wrestlers and wish them much success no matter what their future holds. We are talking about young boys and girls that are trying to grow-up, learn proper behaviors, and be independent and mature adults. One wrong word or some untruthful gossip on this site could affect the future of these wrestlers. It can adversely affect their reputation, college options, scholarship $, jobs, relationships, and their own outlook on life. So why don?t we take the time to show all the wrestlers, teams, coaches, families and fans, what Indiana wrestling truly represents and that is to be the adults that know how to be respectable, mature, responsible adults and let these wonderful young men and women wrestle. Be happy for the winning wrestlers and teams and strive to make your wrestler and team be winners by being the parents, coaches, and fans the wrestlers deserve by dealing with issues in person not over the internet for the whole world to read. Otherwise, we risk tarnishing young men and women?s reputations, as well as, the entire Indiana Wrestling program that many people over the years have worked so hard to build. Good luck to all our Indiana wrestlers as they prepare for the state tournament series. No matter the outcomes of your matches, please know you are all champions. Thank you and may God Bless you all
