  1. Very good job today to all involved at Center Grove! They hosted the team state finals yesteryday (and did a great job doing it) and were completely ready for today's individual tourney. Lots of mats, lots of space, (huge gym), timely start, matches were continuous, pairings department was great, plenty of wrestling supplies available via Jim's Wrestling, great speaker on the mic, good reffing, awards were matside and timely, wrestled hard and fast. Finished up mid-afternoon with some great wrestling and a great turnout. Got home at a good hour. Saw a lot of very good wrestling. Would've liked to see more of the high schoolers come out now that the regular season is over, but other than that, it was a very good day.
  2. That's my most memorable moment as well. If I remember correctly, Wilson got the first takedown...Ellis didn't like that at all. He escaped, then LAUNCHED him through the air, straight to his back and pinned him. Then he stood up and did a backflip! Crowd was going nuts.
  3. I reviewed many matches from the Merriville semistate on broadcastsport's website (thanks for the coverage btw), and without a doubt (or even slight inclination), I am real happy that I was attending Evansville semistate for such an important tourney. It was an absolutely awesome venue to see some of the state's best get after it! For those that weren't able to be there, think of it as a mini Conseco (or Bankers Life fieldhouse). It was truly first class.
  4. I gotta say, I'm a huge fan of what you guys do! I love the fact that you are trying to grow and get more widespread throughout the state. No one else is doing it, or bringing the attention that you do. It would be awesome to have you guys in southern and central Indiana doing what you do up north. Heck, we can't even seem to get very good newspaper coverage most of the time, lol.
  5. These are really good percentages of predictions given the thousands of wrestlers in the state. What's the overall accuracy percentage...all classes combined?
  6. Excellent work coltsfan87. Thanks for that. Good job Indianamat and OTR. Considering there is roughly 320 schools that have wrestling programs you've done real well figuring it all out. Keep it up. Thanks.
  7. I was at E'ville and saw that as well. I don't think I've ever seen it before. Hats off to you Referee Hayes! Jim Littlejohn is an excellent ref. Definitely one of the best, if not the best. Always, always glad when he's the ref on my kids' mat(s). He knows the sport and the technicalities and calls a match superbly. Also has a great "matside manner" with coaches when explaining the rules, or his calls, to those that may not understand or may not have seen what caused the call.
  8. Overall, looks like a "Good Job" is due to OnTheRise219 for bringing us the rankings this year. Just glancing over the rankings for each class it looks like they were pretty accurate as far as determining the top guys in the state, based on who made it to state. Haven't done the math to see what percentage of each class was correct with regard to advancement (it would be great if someone wants to do it and post it), but again, at a glance it looks pretty good. There are always upsets every year that obviously no one can predict. I wonder if the upsets are discounted in the calculation, how much closer are the rankings accuracy with regard to making it to state. Also curious to see how the final results of state compare to pre-state rankings. Any statistic guys up to calculating...?
  9. From a spectator's perspective, I thought it was absolutely awesome! Great looking, brand new facility. Comfortable seats. Great lighting. Plenty of space in the stands. Clean bathrooms. Good sound system. Great announcing. Timely progression of wrestling. Polite workers throughout the facility. Great experience. Hope semi state stays there.
  10. #11 Seitzinger vs #4 Underwood @160.
  11. Only link available right now is for Fort Wayne. Will others be available soon?
  12. Why wait? This way they get 2 shots at each other. Someone will obviously go down, but the rematch will be huge! That's the anticipation you would want 'under the lights'. Johnson #1 vs Harvey #2 was a great match during the season. Glad it happened, and looking forward to this #1 vs #2 as well ! Will be a great match!
  13. Correction; it's not BS Sectional. It's Northview Sectional. In addition, you have 11 of Bloomington's going through...they have 13 in it, and I think all will go through.
  14. I can see that happening. Not sure of a particular score but I certainly think Molloy can win it, even if by narrow margin.
  15. You've done a really good job! It's got to be hard as heck to keep up with the entire state and figure out who's who and what's what. I look forward to your top 20 and watch list !
  16. The team regional rankings will do basically the same thing for teams. http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,19571.0.html You're right. But a compilation of team rankings, as they've been done prior, is a lot easier to know where they all stack up. I think one more team ranking going into to post season is probably warranted. There's been a lot of wrestling since Jan 10 (lasted team update).
  17. I like that! I think that's a great idea. I'd also like to know where the teams are stacking up going into the post season. Hopefully we'll get some info before sectionals.
  18. Top 20-25 is the watch list, isn't it? Or does the watch list extend further?
  19. To the wresting community in general, with regard to rankings: Has there been a sufficient amount of wrestling, and win/loss changes, since the last rankings updates for both individual and team to warrant an update? Would a 20 or 25 place ranking for each weight class be of interest?
  20. So, as we near sectionals and the post season, are the current individual rankings set in stone; or will there be further updates/changes? Will there be a top 20 or 25 place ranking, like last year? ( I think we would all like to see that.) How about the team rankings? They've not changed since Jan 10. Are they complete for the rest of the season or will some of the past two week's wins/losses be reflected in a new ranking?
  21. Not sure of all the individual matches. Could someone please post them. I know that B-South lost three close swing matches that otherwise might have won the meet. Final was 30-21 Cathedral. Some really great matches.
  22. Broukal lost to Max Brutus. He got a little behind in points then came back but fell short by 2. Brutus is tough and has been wrestling a long time. Broukal ended up 3rd in the tourney.
  23. From what I understand, that is what is currently being decided. He's super competitive in either class. I hear he's considering his options. I hear his street weight is around 84 or 85 so it'll be easy for him to go in either direction.
  24. The Young family from Bloomington had a tremendous run. There were 5 brothers...all did extremely well and ALL wrestled Division 1 in college. I know 1 went to Harvard, 1 at IU, and 1 currently at West Point. I think 1 was at Michagan. Not sure of the other. (can you imagine the tuition bills, lol). I believe with the 3 younger ones there were at least 5 state championships between them, and many state placings. I don't know much of the older two. I'm trying to gather combined high school records for all 5 of them. Should be pretty big. Will let you know more when I get it.
