  1. To: Anon you are correct. I am a referee that admits if he is wrong. But I know that we are not the same person my wallet reminds me every day. John
  2. Thanks to all that replied I am now down to having just 1 extra ticket. As soon as I get it sold this topic will vanish.
  3. This is for Drooke. I am somewhat a computer Neanderthal so I don'y know how to highlight. But Old 1988 is John M. Schattner. Papa John spells his name John M. Schaffner. But I have to admit I have never met a pizza that I would not take home. Best wishes to you and your wife.
  4. The N.C.A.A. Division I Wrestling Tournament is March 17-19 in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center. This year several people in our group are not able to go due to a variety of reasons. I have been waiting to make this post until I could say what section the tickets are located. I just got off the phone with the N.W.C.A. and they mailed the tickets today. I probably will not get them until next Monday or Tuesday. The tickets are in the lower level of the arena. The cost for a season ticket same seat all three days is $182. If interested call or e-mail. Phone 317-442-2481. E-mail jschattner@ioaofficials.com. I will be occupied most of the day both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I am at the Franklin Township Middle School tournament in Indianapolis, Sunday I am at the track officials clinic at New Castle High School. But will return my missed phone calls each night. I may not have access to my e-mail until Monday so phone is best. The 8 tickets are together and I would rather sell to and sit with Indiana people than deal with Philadelphia scalpers. Thanks. Old 1988- John M. Schattner
  5. As I said in another post I had to work this weekend so I missed the whole show. But the final being all Marion County is wonderful. Both teams are well respected and well coached. I have nothing but respect for both programs. They are truly in the sport for the kids. Old 1988-John M. Schattner.
  6. I had to work this weekend, so I missed the whole show. But I work the Perry wrestleoffs at the start of the season as well as their folkstyle ISWA tournaments, and the Marion County varsity tourney. Coach Tonte does an outstanding job of involving his entire staff in his entire program. Congratulations Jim to all of your staff, kids and families. Old 1988 - John M. Schattner.
  7. Mary and family: As you know I have gone through 3 totally unexpected deaths with my dad and brothers. My thoughts and prayers are with you all I can say is emphasize the good memories in your mind, it will help you get through this time. Sincerely, Old 1988 , John M. Schattner
  8. I have long been an advocate of taking stalling out of the disqualification sequence. If stalling were called as one point throughout the match after the initial warning, I feel that it would be called more often. We already have this with starting cautions. Just my thoughts.
  9. Anytime a police officer is shot we should keep them in our prayers. David Moore of the Indianapolis Police Department played football and wrestled while a student at Roncalli High School. In addition his father, Spencer Moore, served as an asset to the wrestling community for many years. Starting during the the time that he was a police officer himself and continuing until "The Spotlight" newspaper went out of business. Spencer was their photographer and sports reporter for the area they covered the southside of Indianapolis. Spencer covered all sports but spent many hours covering the wrestlers at Perry Meridian, Southport, Beech Grove, Roncalli, Manual and Franklin Central High Schools. He also spent time covering the sport at the middle school level. Let us all keep the entire Moore family in our prayers. John M. Schattner
  10. HELLO DAVE: John Schattner here hope and pray that you are doing well. What you probably need to help you along is a big bowl of ham and beans from Schneider's.I don't post very often in fact this is only my second post . I hope that everyone keeps you and your family in their thoughts and prayers. Coach T has my phone numbers if you want to call you can. Get well.
  11. It was a pleasure to coach against, referee and work with Nick. We had several good battlers in the mid-1970's when I was the coach at St.Roch. He started the C.Y.O. RESERVE city tournament during that time I worked as the tournament director at these for many years. Truly he was a great representative of our sport and a valued comrade. John M. Schattner
