hook and half Posted August 4, 2013 Share Posted August 4, 2013 After Reitz giving Mater Dei a few fits over the last 5-6 years it appears Mater Dei is on the verge of becoming the best team in the state again this year. I have watched a few of the incoming freshman wrestle over the last 10 years and they are very deserving of the hoopla they are getting on these boards. I know Reitz has 3 or 4 good kids coming back this year but overall they are going to struggle to compete in the SIAC as a team. I think they have just enough fire power to defend their Sectional Title at Castle but this years thunder will follow the Mater Dei squad of kids. I cant wait for this season to start. Posted August 4, 2013 Share Posted August 4, 2013 Reitz didn't give them a whole lot of trouble in the duals or SIAC (minus one year they won SIAC) but individually at Sectionals and Regionals Reitz did manage to keep up with them with individual champions and state qualifiers. As a team Mater Dei has always been better. I am looking forward to this year in several ways. From Mater Dei and its rise with Lee, Lehman and Pierre to Ferguson, Davis and Todrank at Reitz to Kelly and Kemper at Central. Harrison had a first year wrestler at heavy weight that I hope returns. They are number 1 until they get beat at least thats how it should be offically. I still think they are too tough on paper to not put them up there. MD 195 Varsity was Collins......neither ralph or butler was even close to taking 195 slot. Collins was ranked very high, but a football injury kept him out the entire season.
