  1. Union County brings a great tradition and many ranked wrestlers. UC 120 is ranked second in the state. In KY if you ranked in top 4-6 they are usually very good. I think that 120 is a toss up....126 will be a battle......and 132 Ervin will win but Jordan makes it interesting...
  2. MD 195 Varsity was Collins......neither ralph or butler was even close to taking 195 slot. Collins was ranked very high, but a football injury kept him out the entire season.
  3. MD has injurys to their 182, 195, and 220. They are thin in those weights and they have to bump people around.
  4. North Posey is assigned to Central Sectional...No O'Risky and Elderkin
  5. MD qualified as a small class (Class A)and not a medium class (Class AA). They chose to enter the large class (Class AAA). Only team in the state that volunteered to move up any class (I believe)
  6. I have heard the same about Central's two studs, but I heard that loser goes 152 for both. Any word yet on the upper weight from Reitz. I heard one may not be coming out b/c he is wanting to focus on Football in College. Anyway, what does the other SIAC Schools bring. I would think that Memorial took a huge hit in losing Coughlin. Btw, Gibson Southern maybe making a charge in a few years with Blake and Matt running the program.
  7. Since Westfield HS is the host for the upcoming new State Dual, are they ready? I have not been there, but I hear it is a wonderful and big facality. I know that the MD will bring many Fans. With a low turnout of a min of 1000 Fans, and a max up to 2500 fans. Can anyone give some insight on the facality, and what Fans can expect. I am sure many of people want this to be a great success, so it can grow wrestling for Indiana High School Wrestling.
  8. 2003 MD Placed 9 with 4 Champs and 1 punner-up. They might had 3 more, but the mighty Griffith H.S. keep that happeing with 4 champs of their own. Over all MD points total was the highes scored. Someone else can let us know if the points spread would be with Griffin.
  9. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/feb/04/no-headline---ev_05wrestlingregional/ PARADISE, Ind. ? By the end of the Castle Regional Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, normality prevailed in the area wrestling world. No. 3 Mater Dei had survived a scare from Reitz in the "unofficial" team scoring and advanced all 13 wrestlers it brought with top three finishes. That set the Wildcats up to make even more noise next Saturday as top-four finishers advance to the Evansville Semistate at the Ford Center. But no team started faster or better than the No. 10 Panthers ? make that the "Pinners" ? on Saturday morning. All nine wrestlers Reitz brought advanced with pins in the quarterfinals to insure it a school-record number in the semistate. "We came with nine and left with nine," said Reitz coach Scott Ferguson. "Through the second round we'd won 17 of 18 with 15 of those by pin and put 89 percent of our kids in the finals. "Whether or not we came out on the short end of the score (unofficially it was Mater Dei 187.5, Reitz 162.5), it feels like we won." Reitz had led Mater Dei after the semifinals (145-140) by the "big meet" scoring system that will determine a regional champ next year as the dual-meet method ends in 2011. "We're happy to advance everybody," said Mater Dei coach Greg Schaefer. "We can see areas where we could have performed better, but that's OK when everybody is moving on. They've got next week to bounce back." The Wildcats started that trend early when the seven wrestlers who lost in the semifinals all came back to finish third. Then Mater Dei took four of its six finals that began when freshman Alex Johnson shook off an 8-0 deficit to Reitz sophomore Josh Davis to win by pin in 3:56 at 113 pounds. Other titles from the Wildcats came when both of their undefeated seniors ? Dalton Brandenstein at 182 and Dane Maurer at 195 ? stayed perfect and Nathan Wright won at 285. Reitz continued its early hot streak at the start of the finals when junior 106 Damon Kuhn topped previously undefeated Castle sophomore Jacob Brown 3-1 in overtime to win his second straight regional. "All that momentum we had early was crazy," said Kuhn. "I think it helped carry over into the finals. Brown got me the last two times we wrestled (Kuhn's only two losses), so I didn't have anything to lose this time and just went after it." At 120, in a battle between defending regional champions, Castle junior Luke Welch beat Reitz junior Blake Johns 10-6. "It's been different this year," said Welch, who remained undefeated at 40-0. "You want to win here because it sets you up for next week, but even that's still about the ultimate goal, to get to the top of the podium at state." At 126, Reitz senior Gideon Vanhook avenged his sectional finals loss to Memorial junior Logan Wedding by 6-0 decision. "It was a goal for all of us today to prove that we're doing what we're supposed to do in the (wrestling) room," said Vanhook. "We wanted to make the statement today that the guys we had left were strong." Another Reitz winner, senior 152 Blake Rueger, took his third straight regional title with a first-period technical fall. "I've never done that," he said. "But I think this was all a carry-over from our first round, which was really exciting. It definitely gave us momentum." Castle added a second champion Saturday when senior Austin Warren won at 170 and Heritage Hills had two winners when junior Jared Boehm defended a regional title at 220 and senior 160 Swade Oser moved to 51-0. Other winners were Central sophomore Brenden Kelly at 138 and Memorial senior Brian Hayhurst at 145.
  10. It is my understanding that MV and MD cannot wrestle Blue Spring because they are from Kansas City. They are located more than 300 miles away. It was a great day of wrestling for all of the teams. The last match of the day between Blue Springs and CBHS was very intense. Parents/fans were arguing and verbal fighting in the stands. The two teams fans had to be separated and escorted out of the building. Great facility and wonderful campus. For next year, the biggest improvement needed for this meet is table workers. They were horrible and unprepared.

  13. Good luck on Sand Hill and the Malone Complex. I was a Drill Sergeant there in 1996 to 1998 while on active duty. I remember those days clearly. The 0330 training meeting, and then wake-up, PT, chow, training, lunch, training, dinner, training, Soldier counseling and packet work, and off to the house at 2230. True groundhog day, just repeat it until you get it right (or your 2years is up) Train those young Warriors hard. DS is a job that will affect young men, greater than coaching did. You will be affected more by the this job than I can put in words.(Wait and see) Having been deployed over 12years of my 22 years of military service, I know the sacrifices that are made; I want to thank you for your service. Be careful and remember that those young Warriors will be fighting for us and themselves in their near future.
  14. Lets get it stared Just my opinion...... I will have to disagree about Reitz. They lost 8 seniors from last year. They do have a 6 returning wrestlers and they have 3 (Little Kuhn, Little Johns, and King) moving up to varsity this year. They will have 7-8 quality wreslters for varisty, however that will not be enough to beat MD 2 years in a row. MD returns 13 or 14 varsity wrestlers. MD roster is very deep this year. Castle will be down this year.....They will still have 6 very good wrestlers, but they will have to many holes to compete with MD and Reitz. I would not be suprise with Memorial and Harrison becoming more competitive. They could battle for 4-5 place, and possibly upsetting Castle. Central and North have new coaches....Central will be very young. They only had one Senior on Varsity last year...time will tell if Lap can turn them into competitors. North had some nice number last year, but only 1 stud. We will have to wait and see with North Bosse will continue to struggle until they get more numbers out. My SIAC Prediction 1 MD 2 Reitz 3 Memorial 4 Castle 5 Harrison 6 Central 7 North 8 Bosse Conference Trny Champs: MD
