I think it is safe to say that it's okay that Mater Dei Lost their first ever classic! These are the numbers of how wrestlers of the Mater Dei Holiday Classic fared in their respective state tournament. State Champs: 7 Runner ups: 5 3rd: 4 4th: 4 5th: 2 6th: 2 7th: 3 8th: 2 Illinois 3A Belleville West took 5th/6thDavis at the classic! Spraggins 138 won an Illinois state title! Spraggins beat Jayce Carr by inj dflt in the finals. Higgins 152 (he beat Franklins Stevenson in the finals) took 3rd place Davis 220 took 6th place at state and took 4th at the classic behind Jones, Tolley, and Ottersbach! Kentucky 106 Binder took 3rd in state and took 3rd at the classic behind Red and DJ Smith. smith beat Binder 14-6 in semi finals. 106 Sheffer took 4th at mater dei and 7th place at state. 113 Dezember took 5th at state and 2nd at the classic behind Kennedy 120 Blackwell won state and won mater dei 120 Duncan placed 3rd at mater dei and placed 7th at state 120 Korfhage placed 8th at state and DNP at mater dei 126 Ervin won state and won mater dei 126 Heidorf 4th at state and 2nd at mater dei 132 Ervin placed 7th at state and 3rd at mater dei 138 Carr 2nd at state and 2nd at mater dei 138 Kahl 5th at state and 3rd at mater dei (he beat Wagner New Pal 8-5 for 3rd) 145 Lampe won state and won mater dei (he beat elsea new pal 8-7 in finals) 152 Lampe 2nd at state and 3rd at mater dei Higgins Illinois 1st and Stevenson Franklin took 2nd at this weight. 152 Gahafer 7th at state and 4th at mater dei 160 French won state and placed 4th at mater dei behind Parkinson, kriech, and Rynkiweich. 170 Bauer 2nd at state and placed 5th at mater dei at 182 behind Zoringer, Wagner, Petrole, and an IL kid. 182 Pledger 2nd at state and placed 3rd at mater dei at 170 beating Fentz for 3rd 2-0. 195 Thompson took 2nd at state and placed 3rd at mater dei 285 Bryant won state again and won mater dei. Chi Town Hustler Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 Lets not use the facts to bust on the Wildcat...if you want to argue it was not a tough collection of high school wrestlers...well you have no leg to stand on...If you want to use a down year to kick the Mater Dei program then take your shot while you have the chance. I am no rookie to this site. I was here 15 years ago when Rex started the site. Oh how the MD fans forget how they rubbed the rest of the state in their program, oh how they forget how their casual fans who had never laced up a shoe or performed one spin drill in their lives bragged and bashed the rest of the state. Word on the street is your feeder program is stocked and ready to make another run. Give the haters a break for a year....It's not like you were winning state every year until the team state was started. OH...here is one rediculious fact...The MD Wildcast were unmatched as a team in Southern Indiana this year, but you finished behind or tied with every team who compeated in this years state tournment.....Just another reason that team scoring is a joke.
