Angel Escobedo has Zach Sanders from Minn first round then probably Danny Felix after.

Bryce Hasseman has Quenton Wright out of Penn State then Keith Gavin.

Here is a good over all Day 1 wrap up report from themat.com and from FloWrestling.  Dingo's OTT thread covers IN wrestlers results from yeaterday well.

Not a great first period for Escobedo. Sanders got one TD and nearly got another, although Angel also almost pulled one off near the end of the period. Sanders wins first period 1-0. Scoreless in 2nd. ANgel wins draw and gets the TD...wins the second period...third and deciding period.

Cejudo looks pretty good against Hall

Sorry, everyone. I lost a little of my enthusiasm when Angel went down. However, this is still a huge, cool event and I'll get back on the ball.

Kolat and Chamberlain in the 3rd period. Chamberlain was down with an injury for a long, long time. Seems like they get a ton of injury time for this type of event. Anyone know the amount off-hand?

Schlatter looked like a monster. Had his way with Meneely and could be a real threat in this bracket.

Wow, Chamberlain shakes of the injury, wins the ball drop and gets the takedown to beat former Olympian Cary Kolat.

The crowd just went nuts.....Metcalf is on his way to the mat! He gets a much smaller opponent in Jordan Oliver.

Churella ekes out a three period win against Bailey. Really wish Tsirtsis could've been part of this. I think he could've finished in the top half at least.

Metcalf in on a asingle, cranking on Oliver's leg in a gruesome way...finally gets the pushout point. Leads 1-0. Oliver putting up a good fight thus far.

Oliver blocks and counters a Metcalf shot, gets his own TD, wins the second period. Metcalf is in peril. Metcalf was deep on a single near the edge, Oliver fought him off. Metcalf finally gets another TD with less than 5 seconds. Oliver really made him work for it, but Metcalf advances

Ed Ruth wins first period against hometown boy Phil Keddy. Keddy wins period 2 to tie it at 1-1 heading into the third and deciding period. Hasseman not too far away.

This Greco match between Millard and Williams is the most exciting Greco match I've ever seen in person and one of the most exciting all weekend so far. Lots of throws, guts and drama in period 1, which went to Williams. Millard comes back with the fall in period 2. Really good stuff.

So, Indiana is officially shut out of the Olympic Team Trials, as Hasseman falls to Wright. It was close, but Hasseman couldn't mount any meaningful offense against the PSU NCAA champ in the 2nd period.

McDonough and Simmons up on mat 4. Carver-Hawkeye goes nuts for McDonough.. Simmons with a quick TD and looks for a turn.

Paulson wins a two period match over Todd.

Period 2. McDonough and Simmons tied up in a scramble and go out of bounds and they decided to give a TD and exposure to Simmons, so he leads 3-0 with a little over a minute left. McDonough is challenging, but very, very few challenges have overturned an original call this weekend. Think McDonough may be on the verge of elimination against the East Lansing Strangler

Blanc and Cejudo up now. This could decide the weight class! Scoreless thruough the first 90 seconds...ball grab time. Cejudo wins the grab, gets the TD. Leads one period to none. I have to say, for being relatively inactive since his Olympic Gold, he looks pretty darn good and in control here. Blanc just can't get anything done against him...Scoreless 2nd, back to the bag.Blanc draws a ball and it's Cejudo's. Cejudo needs just this TD to knock out the five seed. Cejudo gets it pretty easily, advances with a two period win. Very impressive.

Sions beats McDonough pretty easily. Just too much experience, as McDonough never threw in the towel.

Sanders up against McKnight. Don't really want to watch. McKnight wins first period.

McKnight gets a late 3 point move against Sanders, which Sanders promptly challenged. Don't think it's going to matter. McKnight wins

The Flying Squirrel is putting on a clinic against Thielke. Gets a big 3 point move. Wins in 2 periods. Very impressive vv

Hazewinkel wins first period against Kjar. Beats Kjar in 2 periods as expected

Teyon finally ready to wrestle against Phillip Simpson.

Top 4 seeds advance in Women's 48 KG and Greco 60 KG. 3 of 4 top seeds advance in men's FS 55 KG

Schlatter and Frayer going at it. Frayer wins first period. Scoreless in second, goes to ball draw.. Schlatter wins draw, gets the TD, although now they're saying Frayer rolled Schlatter in the scramble? Hmmm, we'll need the judges to sort it out. Apparently, Frayer did somehow get the point, wins the match against Schlatter. There will be no Schlatter brothers on either of the Olympic teams this year.

Ware and SImpson in an absolute war. Ware won the high scoring, back and forth first period and Simpson gets a late TD to win the second period 1-1. They each have won a period and it comes down to the big thir period. SImpson up big and there's a long delay as Ware is challenging the  big move that gave Simpson a current 4-0 lead...They switched the score and it's now 3-3. The top seed Ware is in big danger as Simpson is giving him a battle to the death....they finish the period tied 3-3, but Simpson scored last, giving him the victory. Very, very close to a big upset.

Chase Pami gets the first TD against Metcalf, much to the crowd's chagrin. Leads 1-0, less than 3o seconds left. Pami wins first period. Metcalf's back is against the wall. No more room for error. 2nds period, Pami gets a pushout, leads 1-0. Metcalf comes back like a bull, forces Pami out, to tie it up. Metcalf apparently had his wake up call, as he bull rushes Pami  and snags a big takedown with a lift and slam. Metcalf wins second period. Heading to the big third period, Metcalf has momentum. Metcalf secures a TD with 45 seconds left.

In Greco, Bisek and Anderson each won a period, heading to period 3.

Just an unreal match between Bradley and Trice. Scoreless in the 3rd, they went to the ball grab. Trice won the choice and attempted to get the TD. Bradley got out of the hold and looked to be in good shape, with just 20 seconds to kill. However, Trice stalked him, grabbed him and tossed him by the edge of the mat to get the TD. Clutch move and beautifully done. Trice very impressive in his win over the four seed.

SImmons fights off Cejudo's bumrush attempts and gets another TD, wins period 3-0. Very impressively done. Cejudo gets revenge, putting Simmons briefly on his back, Simmons reverses and puts Cejudo on his back too. Back and forth they reverse and expose each other. Cejudo on fire, leads 9-5 in the 2nd. Easily the most exciting match today. They appear to be very evenly matched. There's a challenge by Simmons
