Drooke
I'm watching Bellator 28 at the moment and they just announce a Ricco Rodriguez vs Dave Herman fight......Did Dave get all of his legal problems worked out with Bellator? Is it a single fight deal then can he go elsewhere? Give me the skinny Cadet130.....gracias!
cadet130
Yes, sir. It is a one fight contract with Bellator. After this he is officially released from Bellator and has no contract obligation to them whatsoever. You can bet he won't be fighting for them again, ever, unless it's one fight contracts, no strings attached, and for big money! P.S. I guess you could say that he got all of his legal issues worked out. They aren't paying him back for all of the legal stuff they've been going through which amounts in the tens of thousands of dollars. At least he can get back to work though without other promotions being scared of being sued.
Drooke
Cadet130, thanks for the info my friend...we were discussing Dave over at TOM during Bellator's fights tonight and I said....I know exactly who to contact to find out the real deal. Do you mind if I cut and paste your response over there?
cadet130
Not at all! I literally just spoke with Dave, so all of the information is correct.
Drooke
Thanks Cadet! Here is the thread if you are interested..... http://forum.theopenmat.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14767
MattM
Glad to hear he can get on with his fighting life now. Suck when some type of legal issues keeps a person out of the game like that.
cadet130
He told me today that he feels like he will honestly walk into the cage in better shape then he ever has. That is promising because you know dang well that Bellator is banking on him losing this fight. I fought on the same card as Ricco in Fort Wayne in July. His opponent wasn't worthy, but I sized him up...he is going to be in a world of hurt when he gets in the cage with Herman. Herman doesn't feel pain so Ricco's submission attempts aren't going to work, just like York's didn't!
Drooke
They interviewed Ricco in between fights tonight and he gave Dave props for beating a fighter (Mario Rinaldi) that had defeated him. Then he went on to say how he was 100% percent focused...he was in the best condition of his life...people that are in the know are excited to see him rededicated......blah blah blah... cadet130
Hahaha...he didn't just beat Rinaldi...that's the worst punishment he has dished out to date! Rinaldi is the one that deserves props for getting up so many times! It was unbelievable. His face looked like hamburger after the fight! http://mixedmartialartvideos.com/dave-herman-vs-mario-rinaldi-video-elite-xc-street-certified/
Drooke
Brutal! After the Ricco fight and he gets Bellator in his rear-view mirror I would like to interview Dave for TOM (pick his brain a bit and delve into his future in mma)....if you don't mind Cadet130 whenever you chat with him next would you see if he would be agreeable with that? Thanks!

Drooke
www.mmajunkie.com Knee surgery forces Ricco Rodriguez out of Bellator 31 fight with Dave Herman by Dann Stupp on Sep 17, 2010 at 5:00 pm ET A serious knee injury has forced Ricco Rodriguez (44-11 MMA, 0-0 BFC) out of a scheduled Bellator 31 matchup with fellow heavyweight Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (16-2 MMA, 1-0 BFC). MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the news with sources close to the Sept. 30 event, who said a search is underway for a replacement. Rodriguez initially hoped to fight through the knee injury, but he's since learned multiple surgeries may be required. Bellator 30 takes place at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, La. The night's main card airs on FOX Sports Net. Bellator officials initially announced the Rodriguez vs. Herman fight during a Bellator 28 broadcast earlier this month. Rodriguez, a former UFC champ, had bounced between the heavyweight and light-heavyweight divisions during his current nine-fight win streak. Now living in Louisiana and devoted to teaching, he had hoped to compete in front of a local crowd of fans and students. Herman, meanwhile, hasn't fought since a May loss to UFC and PRIDE vet Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at an event in the United Arab Emirates. The defeat was caused by illegal knees delivered by Herman. Prior to the loss, the Indiana native began his career with a 15-1 record (all of the wins came via strikes, and 14 of the 15 came in the first round), which included stints with the now-defunct EliteXC organization and World Victory Road's Sengoku event series. Herman had been embroiled in a contract dispute with Bellator officials until the recent fight booking.

cadet130
There is "potentially" a replacement so hopefully this still goes down so he can be finished with Bellator.
infowrestling
Who is Dave interested in signing with? Strikeforce? Any chance of the UFC?
cadet130
He has been contacted by every major promotion so once he is done with Bellator he just wants to fight, fight, and fight. I'd venture to say that whoever puts the best offer on the table is who he will sign with.
infowrestling
In that case, I would wager to say that he signs with Strikeforce.

Drooke
wut wut...spill the beans bro.... cadet130 on Sep 28, 2010 at 2:03 pm ET Herman was not scratched from the card. He is actually en route to the city right now and his replacement is there as well and has been confirmed. Dave will be fighting on Thursday for Bellator. Drooke
Hey Cadet my Bellator showing on fox sports has once again been preempted by baseball. I saw his fight was suppose to be on the undercard but they only showed 3 televised fights instead of the ususal 4. It will probably come on my tv about 10....worst case 12 tonight. Did Dave's fight get moved up and become part of the televised bouts?
cadet130
He said they were debating if they were going to show his on TV or not. So I am not sure if they ended up with that or not. He won by submission in the by a move that he says "i can't pronounce it." haha.
