JR Freestylers leave their marks in Fargo

Much like the rest of the Indiana squads that particpated at this year's events at Fargo, the Jr FS team had some serious highs and lows. Despite only finishing with 3 AAs, there were some very impressive individual performances, including an elusive national title for the red-hot Cashe Quiroga. The Lawrence North product Quiroga beat some of Illinois' best wrestlers and used his superior conidtioning to outlast and out-tough the entire field. The other AAs for Indiana, Camden Eppert and Ryan Stahl, each had some of the biggest wins of the entire tournament. In a quirk of the scoring system, Anderson Highland's Eppert had to wrestle for 5th place despite finishing with just one loss and beating the weight class champ, Ty Mitch of OH. Newly minted Mishawaka Caveman Ryan Stahl turned in a monster tournament, highlighted by a huge pin of top national wrestler Destin McCauley. Among those who didn't place, there were some seriously impressive results as well. Carmel's Patrick Parham had a great tourney, one that saw him beat multiple-time national AA and Minnesota state champ Jacoby Bergeron, WUSA's 13th ranked senior nationally at 103. Anderson Highland's Sam Bennett won 4 matches and missed placing by an eyelash. Chatard's Anthony Bill and Lafayette Harrison's Cameron Vlahos each won 3 matches and likewise just missed capping remarkable tourneys with AA finishes.

 

Junior-105 - Patrick Parham, Carmel, 2-2 with a bye. Beat Northern Plains regional FS and GR champ, Western Plains FS champ, Fargo JR 8th place finisher '09, Double Fargo JR AA '08, '08 Asics Folkstyle Nationals champ, 2X Fargo Cadet double AA and '09 AA state champ Jacoby Bergeron of MN. Lost to 8th place finisher Kevin Malarick of IL (ranked 12th best senior by WUSA at 103) in a 3 period match.

Junior-112 - Josh Yates, Fairfield, 0-2.

Junior-112 - Jacob Boomsma, Bloomington South, 1-2. Lost to 3rd place finisher Carson Kuhn of UT. Kuhn is a true nationally elite wrestler.  Lost a close match to CA upcoming stud Josh Chua.

Junior-112 - Paul Beck, Mishawaka, 2-2 with a bye. Lost to 7th place finisher Matt Cavallaris of IL (ranked 18th best senior nationally by WUSA at 112).

Junior-119 - Alex Gregory, Penn, 2-2. Lost to 6th place finisher Joe Roth of IL.

Junior-119 - Camden Eppert's place is 5th, Anderson Highland, 8-1. Beat weight class champ Ty Mitch of OH. Beat 6th place finisher Joe Roth of IL. Beat FL state champ Rossi Bruno. Lost to 4th place finisher Ryan Mango of MO.
