  1. Who says Mish has 3 starters out, and who are they
  2. "Braggin Rights" That meet is a joke. I've seen some of the most lame matches there. I think Sean should have been asked, and he should wrestle 189 just to make it interesting.
  3. Do we really need to beat this dead "move in" horse? Dunefan dishes out an innocent compliment to a couple of well deserving kids. Can't we just leave it at that. I mean "Gosh"
  4. I think CP is already looking towards next year, if you know what I mean.
  5. Speak more about the brace. I know a wrestler that had shoulder surgery from one of the best and the doctor told him what you just said about the brace not really helping much. In fact he said it was useless. But then you see Angel Escobedo, and Nickerson from Cornell wearing the brace, and it makes you wonder what the verdict really is.
  6. How appropriate and "on the money" is this thread coming right after the season (for most). I was just telling my (sophomore son) the other day. When I was a junior in college, it got real tough to stay focused for some reason and fight through. The one thing that always motivated me to keep pushing and fighting through, was the vivid memories of my high school wrestling coaches lectures. Specifically, the talks he would have with us after a hard practice. I did'nt understand it at the time, but I sure needed to remember it in college and beyond. He would always say "Guys, this is NOT about wrestling. This is about LIFE. This is about pushing yourself when everything else is telling you to quit". That was 30 years ago. I remember sitting on the mat along the wall (only at the end of practice btw could we lean against the wall) dripping wet in my "plastics" underneath regular sweats, at just about my breaking point. That "bust ass" mentality that he instilled in all of us gets me through tough times to this day. Thanks to the late/great coach Cameron (Merrillville).
  7. Oops, I meant to reply to "duck_and_run" post, but screwed up the reply by copying his exact post (first paragraph) on to mine.
  8. If the guy does have to have surgery why was he out there for the finals? Who cleared him? The kids a sophmore he has 2 more shots at a title it may look worse on the coaches if he does have surgery. I have no real problem with the situation if he was hurt and doesn't wrestle in the finals. My problem comes from the fact that he was either to hurt to wrestle or not hurt enough to take the free ride to the finals. It can not be both ways. If our going to put the kids health on the line do it for both matches. It was a classless act by the coaches. They knew there would be boos if he continued to wrestle in the tournement, so quit blaiming hte fans. You get respect when you deserve it I see your point totally. I'm not a doctor (just play one on TV), but was there more "lengthy" testing and/ or evaluating that was needed to be done after the match to determine with more certainty whether he should compete in the finals? In otherwords, based on the "immediate" evaluation done with in the limited time during the match, it looked a lot more (potentially) serious than the later, more extensive evaluation looked. I don't know, just throwin it out there.
  9. Personally, I like what the college wrestlers do. Immediately after the match, they shake hands with each other, and then run right to the shower. No point in spreading anything you may have picked up from the other wrestler, to coaches (yours or there's) or teamates. Why sit around longer than necessary after the match letting some skin infection you may have picked up brew. I totally agree with good sportsmanship, and hate seeing cocky wrestlers display arrogance. But this hand shaking issue after the match gets to much attention in my humble opinion.
  10. He was very solid indeed. I think there were 20-30 friends and family members with his name on the back of their tshirsts. Pretty impressive performance, especially being a diabetic. Never would have guessed.
  11. Posts: 162 Base, I'm sorry, I could'nt help but laugh again. "My name is Matt Foly, I'm a motivational speaker" "I live in a van down by the river" I'm "triced" divorced. Ah yeah, one of the greats
  12. I don't feel bad for her getting up in front of all those people at all, because that's exactly the kind of attention and spot light she signed up for. That's what aspiring singers and performers live for. Having said that, I would much rather hear a kid like that try her best and make a few mistakes, than listen to some prerecorded version. I even give the tourney worker on Friday credit for gettin the job done for us.
  13. No disrespect, but pretty much any Merrillville SS 4th over any Fortwayne SS 1st. Just much better competition coming out of Merrillville.
  14. I've always known Paul Petrov as a good wrestler, but he showed great composure Sat against a tough lil brooks. He was not supposed to win. He himself told the newspaper how Jarred has beaten him every time they have wrestled in the past. Like over a dozen times, since youngsters. If that isn't having a kid planted in your head, I don't know what is. Jarred just came off a National preseason championship this fall. I know both , and think both are great kids. I know it could have gone either way, and maybe the results will be different next time. You got to give Paul credit though for stepping up to the plate. Good luck to both kids Sat.
  15. You know what, I would have to agree as well. I think the officiating at the Merr. SS was very good Sat. I think my beef has more to do with the current rules, regarding "OUT OF BOUNDS", than any thing. There is way to much "subjectivity" at play in this ruling. I saw everything from one kid touching a toe on the line and both guys brought back to center, to almost both guys completely out before the whistle was blown. It just seemed to be way to much inconsistency among the calls. Why can't we get closer to college rules in this regard? But other wise, good job guys.
  16. I believe if you're the first one to criticize a bad decision, you should be the first one to praise a positive correction. Good Job IHSAA! Good Luck Wrestlers!
  17. I realize, and am certainly not implying that any of the wrestlers, or coaches at the Richmond regional have anything to do with this situation, nor have done or plan on doing anything wrong. I'm also sure that none of them intend on throwing any matches at the rescheduled regional based on the semi state brackets posting . I'm sure these decisions happen above there authority. I know the kids just want to wrestle and the coaches just want to coach. I am probably the only one right now that is scratching his head. It does make me wonder however, whats happening and who the "real influencers" are at the higher level; Who is really in charge at the state level? 1. Richmond reg. (containing a few of the states elite wrestlers) was rescheduled because of the snow, but the Jay County regional wrestlers got screwed. 2. Richmond reg. wrestlers advancing to semi state can pick and choose (if they wanted to) what side of the bracket they would like to begin at. It does beg the question doesn't it? Why. I'm sure it is totally coincidental. Right? "Things that make you go HHMMMM"
  18. Come on Bob, where is your Bull Dog faith? haha
  19. Way to go "DOGS" ! All you guys came to battle last night, and it paid off. It was really nice to see good wrestling and character do the "talkin". Good luck down state.
  20. Gotta go with MACDADDY on this one. Bradley is very tough, but that loss weeks back was a wake up call for Hawk. There is no substitute for his speed when he opens up.
  21. Counting the minutes before the Portage team regionals. I'm really thinking the BullDogs are gonna repeat. But the "Maldonaldo" factor is always a threat. Not to worried about the Munster Mustangs, but the Portage Indians are a dangerous bunch. Can't wait, bottom line.
  22. Unauthorized as it may be, I love the sarcasm. And btw, that is my favorite Farley seen. Funny stuff!

Hey no joke dude. We all appreciate what your doing. Thanks
  24. I'm not saying they don't print the finals and consolation "scores". I'm talking about a couple of highlighted match ups, upsets, or even a recap with pics of the day. I just think we (region wrestling community) have more fans and supporters than the papers reflect. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there are more bowling and girls basketball fans and supporters in the region than I realized.
  25. I'm not a coach, but are you saying that the coach or someone on the coaching staff should be taking pictures and interviewing the wrestlers for the paper. And then sending them the pics and info to be edited and maybe printed. Huh, never thought of that but I suppose its better than nothing. I'm thinking that might be hard to do. Results I understand, but action shots and interviews comming from many different teams may be unmanageable, let alone unwanted.
